In 2022 I started traveling/work camping up and down the Eastern part of the US. Dr. Burkett has been a blessing to me and my 28 yo African Grey. His office always accommodates our crazy schedule. The method he uses to contain him while doing trims is like nothing I have ever seen. Izzy is a TOUCH ME NOT and usually screams his head off, but not at Dr. Burkett's office. Note: We were not moving when my funny guy decided he was gonna drive the bus.

I am a first-time bird owner and honestly have no clue what I'm doing with my Archie and Edith (parkeet). I don't touch my birds and am so happy I found Dr. Burkett to keep my Archie and Edith happy and healthy! It is fairly easy to set up appointments, and when we arrive, they operate on schedule. Pictured below/above is Edith's first appointment!

I woke up to find that my 15 year old Macaw had completely plucked all the feathers off her back. In a bit of a panic, I called my normal avian vet, who told me this wasn’t really an emergency and I’d have to wait two weeks for an appointment. I was speechless, as I have been a customer for over 15 years.
I called Dr Burkett and he understood my concerns, and even as a completely new patient he fit me in on a Saturday! A full workup later and my very aroused Macaw is now on a hormone therapy, and more importantly I have the peace of mind to know there isn’t an underlying medical condition.
I have three large parrots, and they are all now patients of Dr. Burkett. I’m very happy to have found him, and to know that my parrots are under his excellent care.

Just completed another check-up for my Conures and Budgies. We are blessed to have Dr Burkett DVM, DABVP as our Avian Vet. Its not easy to find a vet with decades of avian specific experience.

This Dr is the absolute best. He helped us learn to take care of our African Grey parrot after she lost her top beak. He's very knowledgeable in Aviary care. I will never take my birds to another vet.

We love Dr B! He is probably the only vet who would see our Triton cockatoo since he is so aggressive, and he still treats our devil with love and care (and a healthy dose of precaution). When we got a second cockatoo we brought her for her new bird checkup and were pleased once again with his knowledge and professionalism. Both birds were rescues and in rough shape and he has helped us to bring them back into excellent health through educating us on their needs. Also as others have mentioned he answers his own emergency calls and always reminds us if there’s a problem in his after hours to not hesitate to call because birds go downhill so fast.

Dr. Burkett really cares about the best interests of his feathered patients. He took the time to explain avian care to me without me even asking, even though my bird was only in for a wing trim. Also, the receptionist lady at the front was everything a customer hopes for. She was very polite, helpful, and nice. I will be back for an avian check up as soon as I have the funds.

Dr. Burkett called me back twice on a Sunday. He was correct, an emergency visit wasn’t needed.

My chicken, Sheryl, had a limp that was so bad, she couldn’t walk on Sunday. Thankfully, the Dr. and his assistant fixed her right up, and she’s once again a happy free-ranging bird.

The clinic followed up yesterday, and Dr. Burkett followed up today.

I’m very pleased to have found this business.

Dr. Burkett and his staff are exactly what I needed. You are welcomed with sincere kindness and patiently guided through all of your concerns during the visit. Dr. Burkett is a "bird whisperer" with a kind hand. My African Grey was relaxed during her visit and did very well with Dr. Burkett and his assistant. Thank you!!

Great Doctor and Staff. We took our birds in for an annual checkup, and got them sexed. You could tell the staff are bird lovers. Then, our conure had a run-in with our cat, and we brought her in unannounced, and they had her patched up within hours. Dr. Burkett also gave me his personal number and told me to call with any concerns I had. He answers all his own emergency calls....not an out-sourced call service. You don't see that anymore!

Wow one of the best vets I have ever seen. He takes the time to insure you are knowledgeable about your exotic bird. I learned so much. This guy honestly Cares and you can tell this is more than just a job for him. My hat's off to Dr. Burkett one of the finest I could never do him the justice he deserves in words.
