Durham Salt Cave

This is a must do! If you are looking for a restorative experience in the heart of Durham, this is the place. I booked a session for my oldest daughters 28th birthday. We were greeted by a lovely young woman named Kelsey who set us up with a fresh brewed cup of peppermint tea, while we waited for our session. The overall vibe in the space is gentle, relaxing as soon as you enter off of the street. The immediate impression was cared for. We were then taken in to the dressing area to change. We were asked to leave our baggage and electronics at the entrance. On entering the cave, the light is dim and space is beautiful. The temperature is comfortable. On your zero g custom made chairs are a lovely blanket to further promote comfort.We were offered eye pillows and hot stones. Kelsey explained not only the process but origins of salt caves. She helped us settle in and connect with ourselves. The session began and all I can say is I was oddly in and out of conscieness during the 45 min process. I awoke to a gentle bell and then directive to fully come back to the present. I felt refreshed and renewed. We dressed had another cup of tea and were ready to face the day with a clearer mind then what we came in with. The booking process was easy and the price was worth it. Don't Miss it!

Deep Relaxation at Durham's Salt Cave

My husband and I sought stress relief and found it! A 45-minute session in the salt cave left us feeling relaxed and tranquil. The unique atmosphere – salt floor, walls, and air – helped us reach a deeper state of inner peace. The guided meditation at the beginning bridged the gap between the external world and inner healing.

Everything about this experience, from the moment you walk in to exiting, is intentional and designed to promote relaxation.

My wife and I had an extraordinary experience at the Durham Salt Cave. Upon entering, we were greeted by a calming and welcoming atmosphere. We booked the two-person suite, which was truly amazing. I’ve never experienced anything like it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although it can be challenging to quiet our minds, my wife and I left feeling incredibly relaxed. The atmosphere and the assistance we received from the young woman at the front desk, whose name escapes me, were exceptional. She was very sweet, explained everything thoroughly, and ensured we had a wonderful visit. We definitely plan to return.

I took my husband here for his birthday to have a unique experience. We did the 45 min salt cave/sound therapy and we had a lovely, relaxing time. We booked the salt suite, but since there were no other parties at our appointment time we were “upgraded” to the cave.

I wore a tank and thick leggings because it was a cold day, but next time I’ll probably wear shorts to be able to expose as much of myself as possible while in the cave. You are given a comfy blanket and hot stones, but I found it pretty warm in there that day and didn’t need the blanket.

My only extremely slight negative is we were sat in the loungers closest to the fan(?) that pumps out the medical grade salt during the experience, and with my ADHD I found the whirring of the fan louder than the sound therapy in the beginning (which is quiet in the beginning) and it was distracting and prevented me from falling into total relaxation. My husband didn’t even notice it though, and he was transfixed before our guide even left the room. Next time I’ll prefer to sit further from the fan.

My husband tends to not be into “woo woo” but he said his experience was amazing - he was so relaxed he could barely lift his arms. He fell asleep and said it was a hypnotic state. The owner is extremely kind and soothing. It’s incredible he built the place himself too, everything is just beautiful and so carefully considered. We will definitely be back, we would love to try having a massage before entering the salt room. This business is an amazing addition to Durham. Definitely try it! Thank you!

An amazing experience! I always have a tough time relaxing or being able to meditate peacefully. I was the most relaxed I’ve ever felt in a long time after our session. Will definitely being coming back more often!

The Durham Salt Cave is a delightful escape. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The Cave experience with the zero gravity chairs, relaxing music, hot stones and of course salt air were very relaxing. We will be back

Amazing experience. I went in hopes of getting rid of the upper respiratory crud I’ve had for the last month after being sick. It absolutely worked. Beyond that it was a super relaxing experience.

First, you are met with a calm lobby space, with plants and soft lighting and music that soothes the soul. A friendly face greets you with a genuine smile and soothing voice. The rest of the experience is one of unique tranquility, as the walls of salt hold you and receive what you are releasing, whether it be in the salt cave sound healing or via massage by a skilled practitioner. Every time at the salt cave feels like a unique, healing experience, and I am so grateful to have this service to our community.

If I could rate my experience 10’s across the board I would. From the time I walked in until I left. The atmosphere, the hostess and Julie were absolutely amazing! I will definitely book again.

We had an amazing time at the salt cave in Durham.at first it doesn't seem like it would be as relaxing as it was. The zero gravity recliners were amazing with soothing sounds. All this comes together for a peaceful 45 minutes. Thank you we will be back. Especially when our guests come to town.😊

The room is a bit chilly but they provided a blanket and hot pink Himalayan salt stones.

By far one of the best experiences that I have ever had!! We reserved the Salt Cave for our team's Wellness Retreat and were highly pleased with the experience. We were promptly greeted by Alicia who guided us through the entire process. I definitely will be back to experience the salt cave again!!

Visiting Cave & Spa was a deliciously novel experience; it felt like a healing temple. The translucent salt walls provided a warm glow and the bed of pink salt underfoot was both grounding and exotic. I was immediately comfortable in the soft leather, adjustable recliner and chose to listen to the soothing, trance-like music using headphones while my wife relaxed in silence. We felt surprisingly refreshed and enlivened by the experience and will definitely do it again when we visit Durham in the fall. Portsmouth, NH

We had a wonderful experience at Durham Salt Cave! The staff was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to give us the best experience possible for our unique needs. It was a rejuvenating session that left us feeling at peace and clear minded. We had never been to a salt cave before and now we want to return again and again!

It was such a relaxing and amazing experience. Alesia and Bruce were so understanding and provided a refund when two of our friends couldn't attend due to being sick. Bruce did an amazing job of walking us through the process and making sure we were comfortable. The chairs were amazing and unique and allowed for total relaxation. The hot stones we were given was my favorite part and the warm tea at the end was the cherry on top. I would absolutely go again!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Durham's Salt Cave and sound bath for an experience that I can only describe as truly relaxing and rejuvenating. From the moment you step into the cave, the atmosphere is peaceful, calming, and inviting. The combination of soothing music, warm lighting, and comforting temperature creates a space that is conducive to deep relaxation.

The sound bath portion of the experience was particularly wonderful. The combination of gentle sounds and vibrations creates a feeling of complete tranquility. I felt so relaxed after the session that it was hard to believe how quickly time had passed!

I had a lovely experience at the Durham Salt Cave. I just left a toxic workplace and I have a break before starting my new job. I went to the Salt Cave with the intention of purging! Kelsey was a great guide and totally got my goal. I was able to relax and let go! I’m returning to take my friend for her birthday next month.

My visit to the salt cave was pleasant. The attendant was professional and polite. She thoroughly explained everything to my friends and I. The adjustable recliner chairs were comfortable. We we also offered a blanket each, which made the experience cozier. It was a relaxing experience!
