Loved the work done to assist with my Son's cello. The team were able to help us, and fixed the problem sooner than expected. The team were friendly and just fantastic to work with. I am thankful for our Cello instructor who suggested this store. Thanks again!

My Blueridge guitar really needed a truss rod adjustment, action lowered, and a pickup installed. Will sure brought it back to life in a big way. It's hard to put down and it's so nice to play now. The pickup sounds awesome, too. Great work from great people - they really do care. Thanks High Strung !!!

I stopped in to rent a guitar today and the experience was just awesome. Will and the other staff I spoke to were very knowledgeable and great to talk with and the prices are very reasonable.

On top of all of that the shop is beautiful. It's worth a visit even if you're just browsing.

I got a very old violin repaired, and I am very impressed with the result. The staff did a thorough job explaining everything that needed to be done to me, what it meant, why they believed it should be done, and offering good recommendations for what would be best for me as a new player. The staff was also very kind and friendly. Clearly there is a lot of expertise! Would highly recommend.

My instructor, Craig, is a gifted teacher, who recognizes my learning styles and helps me progress.

Recently purchased a beautiful new guitar from High Strung and am very happy with everything. The shop is in a very cool old building with a ton of charm and history, the owners are fantastic knowledgeable people, and they carry a great selection. I very highly recommend them for any music needs, including lessons or rentals, in the Triangle.

Will is fantastic to deal with and does great work. I’ll try out the violin side of things shortly, but if it’s half as good of an experience, it will still be five stars.

Been renting a violin from High Strung for about 16 months and it's been a smooth experience. I've talked with both Peter and Will when needing some maintenance and they've both been great. Also purchased a new violin case from here and Lee was very helpful with that.

I went for what I thought was a total guitar bridge replacement, but Will, the repairman told me it was a much simpler job to get done. He could have charged me the full price but he was honest and fixed it up in only 20 minutes to boot. I'll definitely be going back next time I have any musical instrument related issues! I don't write many reviews, but Will was amazingly helpful. He helped me with my acoustic for a minor repair and then really came through helping me set up a new electric for my son. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Will definitely go back!

Will use a great guy and does terrific work at a very reasonable price. He stands by his repairs and I was very satisfied with the work he did on my guitar. He is extremely competent and friendly.

I had one of the most positive purchasing experiences of the year through the wonderful team of folks at High Strung Violins and Guitars. Will was excellent at teasing out just what kind of guitar to purchase as a surprise birthday gift for my wife and the owners, Lee and Gail, kept me in a meaningful conversation while Will prepped the guitar. I was in and out of there in less than 20 minutes to boot!

Excellent Service and Work! It wasn't easy to find a luthier what was doing repair and set up work. It seems like others have retreated into a building only mode due to COVID-19 restrictions. But not High Strung! The phone greeting message told me up front they were fully operational. So, I dropped off my inexpensive Fender Squire Telecaster with Will and he really set up nice! Made it feel like a much more expensive instrument! He dressed the frets, made sure they were all level, set the action and intonation. It felt so much better. Plus everyone is friendly and willing to listen. High Strung will get all of my guitar work.

This place is a hidden gem. Staff is super cool and knowledgeable. I've bought guitar strings, picks, mic cables, guitar cables, and an awesome acoustic guitar here. I found a beat up violin at a thrift store recently, and I'm taking it here soon to get it restored. Love this place!

Great GREAT set up on my guitar. Went in to have the nut and jack replaced on a guitar I’d picked up. Fantastic job. The guitar plays better than any of my other guitars. I’ll definitely be bringing more of my gear over there for modifications and adjustments.

We have been renting instruments from High Strung for about five years. We started by renting because our sons were very young and we were not yet sure about commitment. After a couple of years and steps up in size we decided to purchase. Using our rental credits put a quality instrument in financial reach. We do still rent a cello and will until our son is a bit older. Throughout the rental period, the service is always great! Even careful children still have accidents and they are all covered under the insurance policy. I love that the staff is stable and knows me when I go in. I love that High Strung is a community institution, supporting aspiring Durham musicians by hosting weekly free jams. They are also a sponsor of Kidznotes, which is a program that gives high quality music instruction to kids from high poverty areas.
Whenever possible, our music purchases come from High Strung.

Highly recommend! I have begun sending my students here for violin rentals. They rent out good quality instruments for reasonable rates and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is the best place to go in Durham for everything string instrument related. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and instruments offered are of top quality. It's the one place where we can bring in the cello and it gets the proper maintenance, tuning and such at a very fair price. We won't go anywhere else when it comes to strings!!!
