21c Museum Hotel Durham

All staff members were fantastically friendly and accommodating.Our server at the restaurant was superb and the food was delicious. The hotel itself was probably one of the most unique I've ever seen. Absolutely loved exploring all of the artwork and touring the old bank vault was delightful!
The only constructive criticism I would offer is I think the servers in the restaurant should be better dressed. The restaurant is somewhat
high-end and rather elegant. As wonderful as they were, seeing the servers dressed in sweatshirts and jeans and tennis shoes did not do the restaurant justice.

**Front desk is on the 2nd floor. Once you get off the elevator, make a left to front desk.**
Really great hotel. Fun and creative art. Front desk staff is really kind and helpful. Good gym. Walls are thin, but rooms are spacious. Hotel in the middle of great eateries within walking distance. Will definitely stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic Hotel! Stayed in Durham for a week for work and they were able to get me checked in a little early! Chantel and Christie at the front desk were incredibly kind and helpful!

The nightly Bourbon at the Hotel bar was such a nice treat! And the Museum and vault are really cool!

Relaxing, fashionable & Luxurious

Not my first stay with 21C, I choose to come back for the unique experience that it offers at every location. Quality is present on every floor and amenity from the amazing bar & restaurant to your room.

Christina & Cali are the architect's of my most recent stay and the reason I feel compelled to write a review. Service is always excellent but never had a pair of employees made me feel so special and are the main reason I will be returning for my next "Staycation".

Loved this stay so much. From when you arrive at the valet to check in and check out. It’s a magical experience. To be inside of a museum/old bank is one of the coolest things we have ever done for ourselves. We already have booked for Christmas.

Short stay in interesting hotel in Durham. Enjoyed exploring the art gallery and artwork in the room. No mini bar or room service, which I missed because I arrived late Friday night. Didn't try the adjacent restaurant. Good place to stay for a weekend.

We went here for my wife's birthday weekend and it was amazing:

1) phenomenal service: the staff were aware it was her birthday, with multiple members wishing her a happy birthday, and a personal card from the manager with a bottle of Rose they left for us in our room that had a marvelous view of downtown.
2) the food: awesome pasta dish with mussels in it, a must have. Seasonal cocktails were a welcome bonus
3) the art: very cool modern exhibit, and a fascinating old bank vault downstairs as well, which makes this not just a place to stay at, but also one to explore.

If you are coming for a short or long stay, put this place at the top of your list. We love this place, and will be back in the future :)

Absolutely enamored with my stay at 21C! Arrived about an hour before check-in, and they were able to accommodate me. I opened the door to my double room and was amazed by the bathroom--yes, I took selfies, and it was so worthy of that and more! The room was super open and had a cute little seating area. Next to that was an ample TV with tons of channels!

I dropped my stuff and eased into the bed, which was so comfortable. The pillows had different levels of thickness, so I loved playing with them and figuring out what I liked!

After chilling out for a few hours, I finally made my way downstairs to check out the museum and the bank. They still have the vault and the deposit boxes. Wow! It was so cool to be able to walk through and take in history and the uniqueness of this hotel.

To end the night I got to enjoy the beautiful and deep soaking tub-it is a must! I had such a wonderful stay, and I will be back!

A couple of suggestions would be to change the toilet paper to two ply and upgrade the tissues. I think for the amount of money to stay here for a night, the toilet paper should at least me two ply!

We enjoyed our short stay. The staff throughout was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a problem with our first room and was accommodated with another room without hassle. Lovely place to stay and would recommend to anyone.

I stay here for a work trip and it was well worth it! The museum part was amazing and the room was even better! The view I had of downtown Durham was super nice and everything fell into place perfectly! The shower was the absolute best!

Amiri and Stacey served me at the conference event today and he went above and beyond. I’m from Spain and wanted wine with Coke. Weird request for being in the US, but he had such a great friendly attitude. They didn’t have Coke at his bar but they ordered someone to go get some from the kitchen so they could fulfill my request. They both went above and beyond, and was extremely nice.

My husband and I had a lovely weekend stay at 21c Museum Hotel in Durham, which is within walking distance of many fantastic restaurants, bars, galleries and only a longer brisk walk from the Nasher Art Gallery at Duke University. It's well located and a comfortable stay. The staff did their best to make us welcome and satisfied.

If you have an event at the DPAC, this is the perfect place to stay. We loved the room. The bathroom is super modern with an all glass walk-in shower. We will be returning for sure!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel last weekend. Despite 3 weddings in the hotel, the staff, to a one, was always friendly, smiling, and accommodating. Requests were all handled smoothly -- with hand-offs happening seamlessly, when required. I rarely experience that in the US and never in the last several years. The building was great too. The room furnishings, public spaces/museum exhibits, bar were a refreshing change from the usual cookie-cutter chains. Well done!

We stayed at the 21C Durham for our wedding anniversary. We were very impressed with the art exhibit at the hotel, which occupied multiple floors and had themes of repurposing maps and books running throughout. In-room dining was outstanding, and the location was great – a short drive from RDU airport and the area around the hotel was very walkable. We found off-site parking for our rental car, but on a future trip I would be inclined not to book a car at all.

This is a beautiful hotel. After recently photographing an event here, I look forward to coming back to stay.

I can only speak to the quality of the museum, I have never spent the night at the hotel. The museum however is just wonderful. There's all kinds of Art and it's all very very interesting. The old bank vault in the cellar is open for you to explore. Don't miss out on the gallery on the second floor. The place is very handicapped friendly. There are elevators as well as stairs. The bathrooms are kind of exciting as they are of the opaque glass variety.

I was staying in town for business and was referred to the hotel. The room was much larger than I expected given some of the other reviews, with all the amenities I could want - coffee maker, iron/ironing board, room safe, bathrobes, and extra blankets. I loved that the "desk" was actually a table and comfy love seat - much more comfortable and relaxing with my morning coffee than a desk facing the wall. The bathroom was good for an older building - large rain shower and the toiletries were fantastic. The location can't be beat - walking distance to everything downtown. My critiques are minor - the towels felt cheap (thin, scratchy) compared to the rest of the room. And the hallways were very loud given they are tiled and not carpeted - not a problem once I turned on my white noise app.

The staff were amazing. I arrived in the early afternoon and my room was not quite ready - the front desk staff gave me access to the business center so I could work while I waited. A small but appreciated gesture! Every person I saw in the hotel (housekeeping, front desk staff, managers, valet service) was welcoming and made me feel like I was at a home away from home.

I will definitely stay here the next time I am in Durham and will be telling everyone the same!
