Residence Inn by Marriott Durham McPherson/Duke University Medical Center Area

I had a great experience for a one night stay. I believe I was in an updated studio room (4th floor) and it was beautiful. Space was clean, kitchen well stocked with utensils, plates, even a toaster. The staff was responsive and accommodating during my stay. The included breakfast was well stocked and fresh. I didn’t have a car and the area is easily accessible to walk to Duke, nearby Whole Foods and historic Bulls field.

The location and staff make this hotel unique and worth returning to. The exterior and amenities are attractive and suitable for the price. As of summer 2023, some of the rooms and furniture are feeling a little worn -- I heard a renovation is coming soon though. But it's the staff's willingness to do what is right that makes this a hotel to return to.

I had lost my keys and returned home without them. House Cleaning did not find them but engaged with the Building Engineer based on my claim that they were last on the night stand. They disassembled the nightstand and the keys had indeed fallen inside. The Front Desk Manager shipped them the same day they were found. This effort took the coordination of three willing and dedicated teams and they were quick. Their effort saved me a huge headache and I am quite grateful. I travel a lot for work and found their willingness and effort exceptional. They earned me as a repeat customer.

My husband and I just spent 5 weeks here while he received treatment at Duke Med. I can't say enough nice things about the staff. The breakfast had variety, not the same 'ole thing every day. The housekeeping staff was the friendliest I've met, and I've been in a lot of hotels in my life! Norma, Jasmine and Skylar were particularly cheerful and helpful any time we asked for something. Barry went the extra mile to help clear up issues that involved the cable TV company and come back to check on us to see if it was working after his persistent efforts. Several good restaurants are a short walk or drive away, and getting back and forth to Duke Med was a 6 minute easy drive. We'll definitely stay here again if we have to return for a lengthy stay!

I came here with a large group. Working with Jennifer, the sales director, was awesome. Her communication was great and things were really smooth. Ti’Anna who worked the front desk was amazing. She was friendly, calming, supportive, and very down to earth. The rooms were clean and spacious with a really nice setup. The location was close to lots of great places. We also got great service from the bartender Destinie. :) Would definitely come back.

Easy parking, nice people, soft beds, huge bathrooms, and the best part......check out is 12! We stayed one night and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

My kid had an appointment located in the Duke Children's Hospital and we decided to stay overnight because we live 3 hours away. Parking was easy & you pay with on your phone($12 every 24 hours). The lobby was beautiful. Rooms can have phone entry locks if you download the BonVoy app. You can also check in/out via the app. The breakfast was good. Included croissants, scrambled & boiled eggs, turkey & pork sausages, oatmeal, cereal, waffles, and the usual bagels, bread/toast, yogurts, etc. I don't drink coffee but my mom & kid both said it was good. There's also a nice big bar in the lobby that opens in the evenings. They have a nice little outdoor seating area as well, complete with a fire pit table. No rooms on the ground floor, but they do have 2 elevators. When my kid goes back for their next appointment we will be staying here again.

Room was a good size. Bathroom was big enough space for three people to share. Close walking distance to East Campus of Duke. Right across from the gas station. We were on the first floor, and there were some tiny ants on the counter when we arrived. They were harmless but we did let the front desk know so they could take care of it for the next guest. We only stayed one night. We didn't use the kitchen to cook, but it was a good size and the room was otherwise very clean. It was quiet and bed was comfortable. Breakfast food was great. Parking is 12.00 for a 24 hr period. I left my coat accidentally at this hotel. I didn't realize it until I got back home. I called the next morning and left a message with housekeeping. Someone called me back within 24 hours and informed me that they found my coat. The next thing I knew, the manager mailed it back to me. I received my coat within the week. Could not be happier!!!! Thank you to the Residence Inn staff and manager Janine for their integrity, support, and kindness.

I stay at this location a couple of times a month for work. There aren’t enough great things to say about the staff. Janine and Ti’Anna both treat guests here like family. The rooms are always clean, and the location is very centrally located in Durham.

Our visit was in February but I am just now getting to review. Our stay was amazing! My husband and I stayed here about 4 years ago and had a great experience so we decided to come back with our toddler in their one bedroom suite. We had everything we needed and plenty of space! Every single one of the staff was so friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special but Tawanda really stood out! She greeted us most of the mornings and my son loved smiling and talking to her. So grateful for a clean, comfortable, and friendly place to stay close to anything you are visiting in Durham!

Nice hotel in downtown Durham. I like they allow pets which Is a great thing and the breakfast was great as well..

Overall a great experience! The rooms were in great shape and very clean. With plenty of open space. The staff were super friendly and helpful! They also have a little history museum which was cool to look at!

Check in was easy! Loved having my room key on my phone! Room was nice! Breakfast was delicious! Close to the train station and North Carolina Central! Looking forward to our next stay here!

The staff could not be more exemplary. From room service to shuttle service to fine breakfasts (Ernestine is awesome as your breakfast overseer, and her good will and kindness is infectious), you set the bar on quality.

My son was in surgery at DMC and in post-op rehab a long time, and Residence helped us so much. Thank you.

We had an amazing time at this hotel! Our room was so affordable compared to other nearby options and it was absolutely beautiful - large suite with two big windows, a huge bathroom and shower, a full kitchen, and a modern look. We left too early for breakfast, but they offered iced lemon water and coffee, as well as a small store with essentials like eye drops, snacks, and toiletries. They also had a full fitness center (we didn't have time to use it) and an indoor pool (though it was being resurfaced when we visited). They also had a full bar downstairs. It was only a 15 minute walk to the train station and to some of the main sites of downtown Durham, and was only a block or two from Duke East. I will definitely be staying here the next time I come to Durham and will recommend it to friends/family, it was more than worth it.

Visited here for 2 days. Great staff on all shifts , friendly and welcoming environment. Hotel was super clean . Room was spacious and comfortable. First night was a bit loud outside from my room. Staff offered to change my room, which was extreemly courteous . I ended up not changing. The media room is nice, free breakfast, close enough to downtown if you're planning a night out. I've already booked my 2nd stay .

This place was great. We had never been to Durham before and came in for a wedding. Check in was easy, parking was free, and the hotel seemed to have great amenities. We were only there for a night so did not take full advantage, but saw a gym and bar, along with typical lobby amenities. The rooms were really the best part. We were thoroughly impressed when we first entered. It was spacious, clean, and the aesthetic was modern. We left the room literally researching some of the furniture and ability to purchase similar pieces. I even had to recommend the hotel to multiple people at the wedding reception for future use. Great experience.

Wonderful week in Durham. The room was spacious, well equipped, clean, and comfortable. The included breakfast was fresh and included a wide selection of fruits, cereals, waffles, eggs, and meat and potato sides. Although the eggs were a little dry and the pastry selection non-existent, I always managed to start my day off right. And, I was always greeted by a clean well prepared room when I returned after a long day. Loved it.

We were very pleased with the quality of this hotel. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a full kitchen. Breakfast was good, easy parking, nice fitness center. Nice location by Brightleaf square.
