Honestly it’s was a good stay, we came for a concert that was conveniently located adjacent to the hotel at the Durham Preforming art center. I was able to the teens go alone to the concert while I enjoyed the quiet hotel room. Checkin was smooth with John up front, parking was $15 a night in the garage next door, although it was cheaper to get even parking for $10 in the same garage. The hotel is located walking distance from many good restaurants. It had cool comfy lobby area with games and a bar. The breakfast was okay, not included but reasonably priced.

My only complaint is that there is train that passes by that is really really loud.

Service here is 5 stars PLUS!!!! I honestly have never met another "front desk" associate as lively and respectful as Eli. Eli helped me out so much with the reservation, with the room, with just saying "Hello" on a daily basis. This is the epitome of what you would want as a front desk indvidual, even better, manager. Thank you Eli for everything and you truly are the reason I will be staying here again.

I recently stayed at Aloft Durham Downtown connected to DPAC for a performance of MJ The Musical, and it was a fantastic experience. The hotel's convenience, being attached to the Durham Performing Arts Center, was a major plus. The cleanliness was commendable, and the small grocery shopping area offered a great selection for meals and snacks. The full bar, well-decorated lobby with billiards and games, added to the enjoyable atmosphere. The second-floor view and pool were highlights, making it a delightful stay. I would enthusiastically choose this hotel again in the future.

Was a bit worried after reading a few recent reviews but we had a fabulous stay. No weird smells. Front desk staff were super friendly. Great location. Bed was comfy. Only complaint is no shelf in shower to hold my stuff. And if your noise sensitive there is a train that comes through frequently.

I had a great time here. Eli was a very accommodating front desk agent. I loved the hotel décor and colors. My only grievance is design related. The shower had no storage space for soaps, or bottled shower products, and was without any hooks or racks. The fridge was on the floor, under the bathroom sink, next to the trashcan. Overall, I was comfortable and had a clean room.

I'll say I came in with low expectations based on other reviews reporting an outdated property, etc. My experience was great. I found the room to be in fine condition, and the front desk staff was very polite. The bartender was wonderful as well.

My only criticisms would be that the large "savvy" king room we had was not really that large, and had a lot of wasted/empty space. The layout could have been better thought out. Also, the front desk should do a better job at checkin of informing you about breakfast, the gym, parking, etc when you check in without having to ask.

Had an iffy check in, but Martin was able to help resolve everything super quickly and with great hospitality the next morning. Overall great location and rooms.

Excellent experience. Convenient location...love the park in front of the hotel. Exercise room and pool have a wonderful view. Lobby/bar area very comfortable...most importantly the entire staff was very friendly and helpful! Special shout out to Johnny, front desk, thank you for all the local recommendations! We had a great time exploring the city.

This was one of my favorite hotel stays in a long time, and it certainly contributes to my interest in returning to Durham. The room was terrific: stylish and understated decor, high ceiling, plenty of desk space, well-designed bathroom (with door separating shower/toilet from sink area), and modern shower. The huge windows provided a sweeping view of the park and the historic brick factories. Most importantly, the hotel was immaculate.

Great location at the American Tobacco Campus (brick warehouses which are now a complex of restaurants and outdoor sitting spaces with a nice water feature running through it), and an easy walk to Main Street. Also, the morning coffee was very good.

I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Durham.

Had a wedding to attend to in the Durham Bulls Park ... hotel was within walking distance of the rehearsal dinner as well. So this was very convenient to say the least. We had hoped for a short cut into the park but the long way around was fine. The hotel is very neat and clean. Beware the sliding bathroom door ... it's heavy but moves easily - we all sent it sailing and slamming the first time. Rooms are spacious. One of the rooms our family had, had the beds on one side - a TV unit in the middle and seating near the window. Which was a nice set up. Pool and exercise areas were great, unfortunately with wedding events there was very little time for those things. People were nice. But we had no idea that all things close early in the local area, so we got to bed earlier than expected each night. Would definitely recommend staying here. All things very local are a bit pricier than going out of your way a little ... but that's the price of convenience in a touristy type area. We enjoyed everything we could in the short time we had, sad we didn't/couldn't plan to stay longer.

Very accommodating friendly and professional staff. Located next to a group of bars and restaurants. Bull Durham Stadium was next door. Pet friendly, has with a city dog style park next door. Rooms were ok, barn door style on the bath room needed a stopper so it did not crash shut

Clean and new. The front desk employee was kind and showed genuine concern about our stay and room satisfaction. He even accomodated us with a top floor and nice view. Loved the bar and the vibe downstairs. Rooms get pricey and their garage gets busy when there's shows next door, but the parking is convenient and reasonable. Great home base to explore Durham and unwind. Use Marriott points for the best value when prices are up for shows next door. Got a $380 value for just 35,000 points using that trick.

I love staying at The Aloft Durham when I am in town for a work trip at McKinney. They use DryBar shampoo and conditioner. The location is super easy to American Tobacco Campus, The Durham Bulls, loads of amazing restaurants!! and not that far from RDU. The only complaint is they need a variety of pillows because the ones I've had the last two stays were flat as heck. They have a small outdoor pool but it needs straining. Very good workout gym. Next to DPAC for Broadway tours!

We had a wonderful time here for our 25th wedding anniversary! We were greeted at the front desk by the most pleasant and caring young man named Jonathan!
Not only did he go out of his way to do everything he could to make us comfortable, but he even went above and beyond and took out a map and circled local establishments within walking distance where we could go for our Anniversary dinner.

When we got back to the hotel after dinner he further asked if there was anything more he could do for us and just knowing that he was offering such good service will make us go back again.

We spent the evening at the pool on the 2nd floor overlooking the city of Durham. It was awesome!

The modern room was very clean/neat and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom spacious with a big shower. We asked for a late checkout and we again were given that opportunity.

I highly recommend Aloft for anyone wanting to be in the downtown area and in a super accommodating hotel.

We stop by the bar while waiting for the shows at DPAC. Quiet compared to a lot of the other options.

The location was perfectly suited to experience downtown Durham and a convenient drive to explore the Duke campus. The room was quiet and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Another review mentioned the train noise, I did hear it one out of the nights in our three night stay, but it was not the event portrayed previously. The highlight of our stay was an extremely helpful young man at the welcome desk named Jonathon. He went out of his way to help us find late night dessert and other amazing spots like Pressed and M Sushi! He was a very conscientious employee and was readily available at check in, providing parking garage tidbits and additional thoughtful insight all three nights of our stay. The breakfasts were delicious and prepared to order - Gluten Free! The in house bar was very inviting and we left for our Wyoming home ready to come back for another visit!
