In the middle of downtown Durham, The Durham Hotel is for couples looking for modern luxury and urban sophistication, providing an exquisite backdrop for the weddings I've shot there and earning it a well-deserved five-star rating. Mid-century charm and contemporary design, set the stage for truly timeless wedding photos. The hotel's attentive and professional staff ensured that every aspect of the weddings, from planning to execution, was handled seamlessly. The rooms, styled with chic decor and offering breathtaking views of the city, provided a great photo spot for getting ready photos and the reception. The rooftop is always a hit, adding a unique view of the downtown Durham skyline. With its blend of modern aesthetics, exceptional service, and culinary excellence, this boutique hotel offers an urban oasis for creating weddings in style. Highly recommended for those couples looking to elevate their wedding experience in the heart of Durham.

I had the best stay at this hotel recently! The staff and service is unmatched, I have never felt so welcomed and comfortable at a hotel before. They went above and beyond to accommodate us in any way that they could. The food is incredible as well! I loved the coffee service in the morning. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. They provided everything you could need on a trip and more! I will definitely be recommending this hotel and rebooking a visit for myself soon.

Updated, clean, comfortable, close to everything, good bar, good coffee.
Rooftop drinks are a good time but great to get oysters too. Bryce is a top tier bartender- great cocktails and the right amount of engagement.

Stayed here recently and really love this hotel. I was originally drawn to the history and mid-century modern aesthetic and that didn't disappoint at all. But add to that great, very friendly staff, the perfect location, and the very large and lively rooftop bar and this just has a perfect combo of things for a trip to Durham (which we really enjoyed as well). There was a great breakfast in the lobby to order and we spent evenings (after dinner - also close by) hanging out on the side patio people watching as well as the top floor patio/bar. There is a lot to do in the immediate area. The rooms are comfortable and really well decorated. If you love mid century design you really need to stay here. Much more fun and unique stay than a typical hotel. There's a parking garage very close by if you don't want to valet. We didn't even need to use the car for our three day trip there was so much to do and see within walking distance.

The rooftop bar is one of my favorite places in Durham! Not only is the setting lovely and the views terrific, the cocktails are actually really good!!

The location is right in Downtown Durham but on a more quiet street right off main street with the action. The rooms were clean and nice and quiet even with a band on the rooftop. The modern 70s inspired decor is super cute. They give you drink vouchers and the bartenders are super friendly and make a mean coffee if you need it.

Only con: closest parking is valet but it's worth the convenience.

Best coffee in town. Such a surprise, went in on a spur of the moment on my way to the post office. What a wonderful place in the lobby to have a rest and sip on the best coffee in town. Seats are very comfortable and patrons low key and pleasant. A good place to do some work on your computer.

I was in a chorus who sang on the rooftop bar on December 20th 2023.
It was a great venue, and I enjoyed a huge appetizer and a nice glass of Cabernet afterwards.

February 2023: While I’ve never stayed at the Durham, I love coming here to hang out. The rooftop is always fun, and the lobby downstairs is a great meeting space or workspace. The drinks are also great in the downstairs lobby, and the employees are all friendly. I love the care Elijah gives, always a smile on his face and is pleasant to be around.

June 2023 update: Finally had a chance to stay at this charming hotel and let me tell you it is worth it! Service is stellar, Eli took care of us once again and he is such a sweetheart. Our room was gorgeous and clean, every detail felt like we were truly being taken care of, not just staying at any hotel.
Breakfast downstairs was delicious, service from Charity at the bar was unmatched. I just wish we had the time to go see the live jazz being played on the rooftop on the evening that we stayed there.

Stay at the Durham, you won't be disappointed.

Our corporate team did an offsite at The Durham Hotel.

Pros:
- Amazing staff, friendly and genuine people
- Location, many great food and bar options nearby
- Easy, Cheap valet parking ($20/night), the neighboring garage was more expensive
- AWESOME coffee bar downstairs in the lobby
- Corporate event space was perfect for our group of 15; food was delicious and we even were able to book lunch on the rooftop. Technology was easy to use, modern projector and setup
- ONLY negative was the rooftop bar closes a little early and was booked for a corporate event one night, so if you are booking an event or the hotel wanting to get on the rooftop make sure it will be available. The staff was awesome and let us book our lunch on the rooftop as the space was not available our main evening
Room was clean with a nice little mini bar. Beds were SUPER comfortable. Everyone on our team commented how the denim, weighted comforter made for a great night sleep. Only suggestion for the hotel is to put outlet plugs more accessible next to the beds.

This is probably my favorite hotel in the entire United States of America. The presence of the Lord is here. The people are kind, sweet, and forever patient. Highly recommend you stay here.

Everything about this hotel is a step back in time, in the coolest way. You can easily imagine the mid century bankers happily doing their work here and it feels like a Mad Men era vibe. Bold, beautiful colors throughout, a spacious rooftop bar, and detailed rooms make this a great stay. In-room Cuisinart coffee maker… yes, please! The valet staff were all so efficient and kind in their work which made our stay even better!

Unique combination of colors used throughout the hotel, some may like it, some may not. I considered it looking pretty good! Very helpful and kind personnel. Super clean rooms, nice materials used around. I would stay again!

I recently stayed here for a conference and loved this hotel! The room was quiet and clean. But the staff were the real stars. Check in was so busy and Shiree was extremely patient and informative. And Mark, let me tell you about this gem, he got me some early morning coffee and some toiletries I left behind. He was incredibly helpful in my moments of need. Great experience overall!

I haven't stayed at this hotel since 2018, but I honestly think about how much I love it almost on a monthly basis. I'm a commercial interior designer and an HSP (highly sensitive person) and this hotel delights all of my senses. It's beautifully designed with so much attention to details; the cushioned carpeting in the lobby and the rooms feels so good and makes the space cozy acoustically. I legit couldn't wait to wake up in the mornings when I stayed here because of the coffee that would be waiting for me at my door and the breakfast down in the lobby.
I don't have a reason to come back to Durham at the moment, but I wouldn't probably consider it just to stay at this hotel again.
Love you guys!

Excellent stay at The Durham! The lobby is comfortable and open for work, a quick meeting, coffee, breakfast or lunch.

The rooms were spacious with ample pillows and comfortable linens on the bed. Lots of hanging hooks around in addition to closet space which I loved. The bathroom, also spacious, had a wonderful shower. Big ups on the robes and slippers for lounging and enjoying the fresh ground coffee (delivered to your room each morning for in-room brewing.) There was also a selection of local snacks for purchase in the room and a couple complimentary small bottles of water. You could choose to have daily housekeeping or not, just request via the door placard.

While I didn't stop by the rooftop as it was closed for a private party, I look forward to a cocktail the next time I return!

I've had the opportunity to work at The Durham Hotel a few times through the years, and it's such a great venue for intimate weddings! Not only are the rooms beautiful for guests to stay, but the rooftop is fantastic for outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hours with a view of Downtown Durham. The first floor restaurant is great for hosting a wedding reception, and the first floor outdoor patio is a lovely way to get fresh air without leaving the hotel. We love recommending The Durham Hotel for intimate weddings.

Manager was extremely nice and welcoming. For anniversary, husband and I had staycation. Location made it easy to walk to plenty of restaurants. We had breakfast at hotel; worth it. Will definitely return and recommend.

I didn't stay at this hotel but attended a wedding here. The rooftop bar is really nice with a beautiful view. The staff that served cocktails and dinner to the guest were extremely nice and helpful. The man who I assumed is the restaurant manager was extremely helpful and I was quite impressed. The wedding i attended had a vegan menu, the only vegetable my 7 year old eats is French fries. He was coming around to the tables asking if everything was okay when he observed my family and I trying to get my daughter to eat something. He asked what would she like to eat but being a vegan menu obviously chicken nuggets weren't on the menu so he brought her a big basket of french fries. Which she happily ate. And I was super thankful.
