These burgers are fantastic - much better than I expected. I saw the reviews weren’t all that great so I was skeptical, but it was definitely worth giving it a shot. Their Beyond Burger was delicious, and tasted like meat. It was also a very thick, juicy patty. The burger came with an “onion and tomato jam”, which i had never heard of. I got it on the side. It tastes sweet (think actual jam), and I think the onions are caramelized so it doesn’t taste as strange as it sounds (also tastes good to dip your fries in). The buns are tasty brioche buns, and they add substantial texture to the burger, without taking away from the taste. It is definitely enough to fill you. The price is kinda steep ($15), but I would say I’m glad I did - you can taste the difference in quality. The Route 29 burger is also good ($15) - the sauce is a little spicy but not so spicy that it distracts from the taste of the burger.

Not to mention, the burgers come with fries and their fries are good. Would recommend coming here. Nice vibe too if you dine in!

Because of the reviews I went in with average expectations however our food was amazing! I got the pan seared salmon with brussel sprouts. I was extremely surprised at how great the flavor was and the crust was perfect. We also got the loaded bbq cheese fries as an appetizer and they also were extremely flavorful. I would recommend to anyone!

we got to the hotel fairly late and the restaurant was about to close in 20 minutes or so and the waitress was very attentive and courteous and brought us refill drinks and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was breathtaking; very modern and cozy.The blue fireplace on the wall added to the comfortable ambience. The bartender was very friendly and very easy to talk to, he was very welcoming. My whole experience with the restaurant/ bar was excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Charlottesville area.

Excellent food, great service, definitely a cut above the run of the mill hotel kitchen and bar!

I've gotten breakfast multiple times while visiting the area and it's been a consistent good breakfast. Quick, but not rushed. Decent value and relaxing before a days work .

The food and service was great. The environment was clean and well organized. My only criticism would be to introduce more grilled options and steak to the menu. I enjoy my fried fish and shrimp but would have preferred grilled. Still a good experience.

Was a great coffee spot on our way to Chapman's Peak. The staff was friendly and the porch was so cute and inviting.

Our family (20) had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at Root 29. The room was perfect and felt like our own dining area. The food was absolutely delicious! Even the kids were happy! There wasn’t anything that you could have asked for that wasn’t represented. The staff was friendly and helpful. Even though they were working on a holiday they seemed happy to be there with our family. Highly recommended!

This is a really great restaurant in the DoubleTree hotel. I am always wary of hotel restaurants, being a frequent flier I’ve experienced sub par food at even the best hotels, but this exceeded my expectations.

The prices were a bit high for the portion sizes, but everything tasted amazing- kudos to the chefs! And this is the main difference from other hotel restaurants, the food tastes chef prepared and not previously frozen/thawed by cooks.

They are vegan and vegetarian friendly which was also a plus. I was able to get a delicious MEAL and not just a salad. I also appreciate they use eco friendly carry out down to the paper bags (with handles) and compostable cutlery.

Even though the hotel is surrounded by a ton of restaurants, I would gladly choose to eat here daily during my next visit.

Root29 and staff did an amazing job with my Mom's surprise birthday celebration!! The
restaurant is gorgeous, service was excellent and the food was hot and fresh. Salma and Tiphony were very patient and tentative in serving all 30 of us with ease. This was truly a moment to remember...thank you Liz, Olivia and Charles. Fantastic job Root29!!

Really great place to hang!

Ate here during Restaurant Week. $3 happy hour for selected beer and wine (2pm-7pm Mon-Sat). Nice bar set up and beautiful dining area. Friendly service and delicious food. A great restaurant and a must try!

OMG-The best fettuccini I’ve ever had!!! The mushroom fettuccini has flavor extraordinaire/ a bite and flavor that does not match any other! Can’t wait to come back! Yum! You have to give this place a try!!!

Service and food were amazing. Very friendly staff that gave me excellent dinner recommendation! I stay at this hotel often and will always eat here.
