Hamilton Township Coastal Plain Marsh

The best hidden secret! Although it is incredibly well marked with blue, lavender, and yellow tags every couple of feet, there are fallen trees all over this preserve. Not skimpy trees either. Big trees! These trees fell right on the trail and can be quite difficult to maneuver around. It often felt like an obstacle course for American Ninja Warrior tryouts! For this reason, I would not recommend this trail for beginners. But this trail is simply too beautiful to pass up. There is literally no one else here except for the critters! We saw deer, groundhogs, chipmunks, woodpeckers, and several snakes! We also had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to get around the obstacles and back on the trail. It can be difficult, but have fun with the obstacles.

Very nice, clean nature preserve. It's in a nice, quiet location. You're just driving down a country road and then all of the sudden you see a Michigan Nature Association sign and a dirt horseshoe shaped parking lot. It's a truly unique preserve, as a coastal plain habitat is very rare in Michigan.

I enjoy the town hall actually but it was amazing had just gotten repainted and cleaned, a bit chilly outside, warmer inside. Love the little gatherings they do every month. Classic faces, free mic up to a certain time and a raffle at the end. The square dancing is amazing and welcome to new people. People bring in free food down stairs. Local faces. Nice hiking trails, well marked and very scenic.

These are some good trails. I walked through in about 20-25 minutes.

Peaceful and never super busy, which could be good or bad depending on what you want.

Take a picture of the map before you set out so you don't get too confused about where you are! It's not that complicated, but better to be safe than to walk in a circle on accident.

Pack a lunch and have plenty of gas, beautiful area but nothing out there but woods.

Great little trail , and nice little pavilion area.
