Kobe' Japanese Steak House

OH GOODNESS! I googled for days trying to find the best hibachi grill for my Asian boyfriend (picky about good food) and it kept popping up Kobe’s in Independence. I just kept saying, “NO! I want to be in downtown KC or crossroads.” But all the reviews and suggestions pointed here. I live down the street so I just wanted to go somewhere different.

Lo-and-behold THIS PLACE WAS EPIC! The environment is absolutely way better branded and decorated than anywhere else in kc. All the other hibachis looked so uninviting. This place had all sorts of good vibes. From the entry bar where you can sit for drinks while you wait, to the quieter sitting room and bar to its left, to the open seating area like a whole dining room in itself for those guests waiting also, and then of course, the hibachi dinner areas where everyone is sitting around a cozy table in comfy chairs or wall bench seating. The servers were all incredible. There was such a huge team we interacted with: the host upon arrival, the first bartender super kind and helped make great suggestions, the other host who took us to our seat, the women who brought everything to our tables and took orders, the chef full of fun energy! It’s a whole operation but doesn’t feel chaotic at all.

Totally family friendly too! I’d bring anyone here. The food was excellent, the environment and decor was enjoyable, and everyone was having such a good time.

It is a little pricey however. Probably a one time experience for a family bc that can get expensive. But worth it.

Also, cocktails were only $8! Whaaaat? And so delicious. I’d go back just for that weekly.

And apparently people do. We saw friends here and they are literally regulars.

We got the hibachi grill . Everything was excellent. The steak and shrimp were perfect. The chicken was not dry. The onion volcano was great.

The food, the festive atmosphere made it all worthwhile. The food was very delicious and our hibachi chef was incredible!! I would highly recommend 👌

Wonderful experience. Our chef interacted with us tons. Making jokes, doing the volcano. He had a gag bottle that shot out a string that made my daughter jump. The server was great, always making sure out finished plates were removed immediately, without being seen!! The food was wonderful. Plain and simple, a great meal.

Went Sunday after church. We had a large group. They accommodated us. It's sad that they don't have sushi on Sunday's or Mondays.

Amazing! But this has been my favorite spot for a long time and the service never disappoints! The food is amazing our service provider was very sensitive about the guest we had in our party who was allergic to shrimp. He took all necessary precautions cleaning his tools and the grill! Thank you guys so much will be back soon!

Update: the sushi is back open and it's wonderful. Love that their sushi isn't drowning in sauce.

I have been coming here since this place opened and they have fantastic sushi. There is no other sushi around who I think compares. There are many regulars who I think would agree. The hibachi is good, as good as other hibachi restaurants but I come here for the sushi. Godfather roll, rainbow roll, tuna pieces then the Michael roll for dessert. Finish with radish roll.

We had Kobe cater for our baby shower that had about 75 guests. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful! Guests raved about the steak and shrimp, and many went back for more. The portions were generous and the owners Shane and Lisa were great to work with. Don’t think twice-have Kobe cater your next event.

Food here is so delicious 😋 . Place is always packed regardless of what day it is. The cooks are funny and make sure you have a pleasant and enjoyable time. Highly recommend making a reservation if you ever get through their phone. And please be patient with all the waitress and staff, they are always super busy. Give them a break!

This place is awesome for Sushi or the grill. The staff are wonderful, helpful, and professional. The food is very good and prepared well and right in front of you. The chefs entertain with skill and personality the whole meal. This is a good place for a group or a couple, even someone eating alone.

Kobe’s will forever be one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always fresh and delicious. The chefs are always on point with the show. I always come home with 1 or 2 meals after I eat what I can. The yellow sauce is my favorite! I couldn’t wait to dig into my plate before a picture as you can tell!

I ordered the chicken and shrimp with the fried rice and it was really good! The wait was not long at all but I did go on a weekday...I loved everything except the soup was not my favorite but other than that I have no complaints...it was even good the next day when I warmed up my leftovers

We had our entire family there for my wife's birthday - 6 adults and 5 grandkids. It was Great!! Special shout out to our chef for the night - VJ was wonderful!! Great food (and lots of it). Good service.

We have been here twice the past two months for birthdays and we have had the best time! “BJ” the chef was by far the most fun and he cooks the food to perfection! We will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

As always, Kobe's Japanese Steakhouse was an awesome experience. Of course, I had the sushi and fried rice. It was truly edible art. Sorry I didn't get pictures. The teppanyaki chef grilled up great treats for the entire table. Definitely a go-to dining destination.

I always forget about this hidden gem in Independence. The sushi is fresh, the chefs are fun, and the service is quick! Will definitely be coming here more often.

Food was good but the staff made it awesome. The waitress was super funny and the cook was funny himself. Great time
