We visited this site towards the end of the day, it was a step back in time. It was hard to imagine living like this, it's no wonder that there was a lot of illness and death. Anyway the Fort was very interesting and also there are some pretty views of the river. It would be an awesome place to see the sunset. Although it closes at 5pm.

An excellent adventure! I learned so much about the history of this strategic post protecting the U.S. against the Spanish in the Colonial period. All of the staff were warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They answered so many questions from our group. Highly recommend visiting!!

Awesome place to experience history and nature! Before heading back to Florida, I stopped here because I saw it on Google maps. The woman working at the front desk had so much knowledge of the fort and she was so friendly and funny! The trees here are old and huge! The views from the fort of the river is amazing! There's a short trai that menders along the river. You can see ruins of a old sawmill here along the trail and a cottage. Great place to experience colonial history and georgia nature! PS there is a huge ancient oak near the cemetery towards back of property definitely check it out.

Loved the Halloween scavenger hunt! Laid back and friendly with great staff. Wonderful way to let kids explore history with a bit of excitement. It is an interesting site and everyone enjoyed it – ages 8 to 78! One concern – electrical wheelchairs, or scooters may do well but we had trouble with a manual wheelchair. Some of the gravel paths turn to sand for a few feet and the wheelchair would get stuck. Luckily, our family member was able to stand up and walk a few feet so that we could get the wheelchair back on a firm path when this happened. But someone who is completely disabled may have trouble getting to the fort and other areas outdoors. I’m also not certain a scooter would be able to navigate one of the turns to get to the fort. It’s a bit tight.

A great fort with a very interesting and informative museum and a nice video. The fort itself was much more impressive and larger than some others in the area. The views of the river and Live Oaks with Spanish Moss were gorgeous. The rangers were knowledgeable and friendly. The entry fee was very reasonable and the place was quite clean. My husband, doggies and I, thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend visiting.

We have visited different forts in different places, and this one is, without a doubt, completely different from all of them, being made of wood.
A good explanatory video, in the room next to the museum, will explain the history of this interesting fort. There is a walking path, picnic tables, restrooms, and the park ranger is very friendly.
Very important to keep in mind, mosquitoes, which are not mosquitoes, are horseflies and their bite can be really annoying, so if you go with your youngest children, better put clothes on them, because not even the repellent works with those flies.

Visiting Fort King George was a rewarding experience that provided a tangible connection to Georgia's early colonial past. The fort, meticulously reconstructed, offers a glimpse into life during the 18th century.

The guided tour was rich in historical insights, shedding light on the struggles and daily lives of the soldiers stationed there. The museum's artifacts were well-curated and added depth to the understanding of the era.

Walking around the barracks, blockhouse, and palisades, I could almost hear the echoes of history. The nearby nature trails and river view added to the scenic beauty of the location.

Fort King George is not just a destination but a journey into a crucial time in Georgia's history. It's a must-visit for history enthusiasts seeking to understand the roots of the state. I left with a newfound appreciation for the complexities and resilience of those who shaped our early history.

Get ready to fight mosquitoes! It increases your sympathy for those forced to serve here in the 1700s. Interesting stop off I-95.

This place is great! Very interesting to see from the British side. The museum is great for kids, as I couldn't get mine out of there! The fort and park area are clean. Bathroom and snack opportunities as well as a shaded picnic area. Very affordable, no parking fee and low cost for all. Very nice gift shop with very friendly staff. Definitely recommend and we will be going back!

We were able to visit during winter encampment.
Went on a Friday so very few people.
The staff and volunteers did a great job.
This is well worth the time.
The kids got to complete the Jr. Ranger program and got swore in by the Ranger.
This made for a special day as well.
Thank you for a great visit.

Really nice place with a lot of history and is very well preserved, showing all the artifacts, utensils and daily life objects from the era, you can check all of the buildings and there is a lot to learn, specially liked the forging area with the equipment to make all the needed objects... beautiful view from the top floor and the deck, you can walk the trail on your way back to the visitors center and museum and admire all the old structures.
The Visitors Center is really nice and sells refreshments and bug spray.
The museum has a very interesting collection and depicts the life of the people from old days...
Enjoy this nice piece of history and like someone else said.... bring bug spray because those bugs are relentless but don't let them ruin your experience

I love stopping here to get out and stretch and take a nice walk while traveling from home in Florida to family in NC. It’s a great way to spend a couple of hours and get a nice peek into what life was like for those who settled here. The staff is always so welcoming and friendly and the grounds are well kept and informative. Well worth the detour off 95 to visit.

The staff and manager were all extremely polite and kind and knowledgeable. The AC in the museum was a welcome reprieve while we learned about the local history. There was an ammunition demonstration in the fort that taught us about the customs in the first half of the 1700s. The fort is a good replica and has amazing views at sun set.

We visited here Thanksgiving week. This was a fun excursion. It was cool to actually walk around and through the recreated fort. There is a lot of educational info to learn. Please expect that there will be biting flying bugs. Be sure to check into the state park geocache program. This is a fun activity to do for all ages.

My husband and I were visiting and it happened to be veterans day. They were doing a reenactment and everyone put in so much effort. All staff were great and friendly.

Quick stop from Brunswick to Charleston. I am a history buff, so this place was right up my alley. Not to mention the beautiful scenery! * beware of mosquitoes! They want all your blood!

Amazing English Fort, the first English fort in the State of Georgia. The site so has a museum, gift shop and shows a short 10 minute about the site.. Pro tip if you go bring plenty of bug spray, or even bug protective clothing. The bugs here are simply awful and being prepared will definitely help you enjoy your visit more. The gift shop is nice with a bug selection of items and sells bug spray if needed.
