Sherman's Dairy Bar

I got the Sherman's Flight of Minto Chocolate Chip No Sugar Added, Strawberry, Cappuccino, Mack Fudge, and Sherman Tracks for a party of 3. It was enough for all after a dinner, and worth the $11. I could taste the homemade process.

This place is delicious! I stopped by on the way home from our vacation in Michigan by recommendation of my sister-in-law. It definitely didn't disappoint. The ice cream is rich and creamy. Good variety of flavors and options. If you are in the area, I would definitely stop by at some point. I would imagine it gets quite busy at certain times, so may have to plan accordingly to avoid crowds.

It wasn't the nicest day to stand outside waiting for ice cream, but it's a must when we make it to South Haven. The ice cream here is simply the best. The flavors are just right, no matter what is ordered. The portions are very generous and the people are very friendly. I had a double strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone. It was perfect.

One of our favorite stops when we are in the area. This time we chose the Butter Pecan and the Mackinac Fudge. Both were delicious goodness.

This is the best place for ice cream in South Haven, and in my opinion in almost the entire southwest of Michigan! It's been around since ice cream carts and ice cream first became popular in the US, and you can taste the experience. They revamped and got new owners recently, but everything is still tasty. The service is also fast and friendly. And if you get a double waffle, warning: you will most definitely get your money's worth!! It is huge and amazing!
The only thing I miss is the indoor seating in the main building. It was classic and lovely, and great to come into after a long day at the beach. But now they have a lot of outdoor seating at least, which mostly makes up for it 👍🏼.

Peanut Allergy Family review: loved this place!!! We called ahead before heading there. Everything was great! They got new gloves, a fresh cleaned scoop and a fresh tub of ice cream to scoop from (to avoid cross contamination) and all with a smile & serious understanding. And even had all of their flavors to choose from bc they had an extra tub of every flavor in the back. That was a first! Recommend! Descriptions of flavors are on their website. Thank you & we'll be back!!!

We saw this place on our way to Three Blondes Brewery and figured we would stop here for dessert afterwards. From the reviews it appears to be a must-stop while you’re in SoHa for premium ice cream.

They take your name and order and you pick up at a different window. I had the 14% butterfat chocolate peanut butter waffle cone that was excellent. It had large chunks of what tasted like a peanut butter cup.

Cash or card. Lines can be long at prime times but a shaded canopy is provided. Ample lot parking. Limited outdoor seating only. Service was a bit slow with the kids horsing around and laughing more than scooping ice cream but it was only about 10 minutes. Expensive but as I always say to keep things in perspective “It’s still cheaper than Vegas.” I would return when I’m back in the area.

I'll start by saying that where I live, we have a similar local chain that makes small batch wonderful Ice cream, so I had a comparison. Sherman's easily gives you 2 to 3x the amount of ice cream for what you think you'll get. I'm diabetic, so usually I'm disappointed at the selections available but to my delight, they had a no sugar added mint chocolate chip ice cream, something my local place at home stopped making (a low glycemic version made with monk fruit that I miss sooo much). I thought I'd be conservative and get the "single", thinking I could handle more than the "baby" serving they listed. Wow! The single was huge! I still ate the whole thing, knowing I'd look at my blood sugar and cringe over the next few hours. To my surprise, I barely treaded in "high" blood sugar territory for more than 30 minutes that evening. I did walk about a mile immediately after the ice cream though. My kids each got the single scoop of cotton candy and loved it as much as (or, dare I say more than) our local small batch french pot ice cream place. I do wish that Sherman's had an option to ship their ice cream on their website like my local place. I'd love to order a few pints of that no sugar added mint chocolate chip.

If you’re in the area and want ice cream, don’t even second guess yourself. It’s worth it. Single scoop is bigger than you think.

The line was huge and that was for a reason. Despite the large line we were in and out surprisingly fast and we were not disappointed. The portions were humongous and beyond delicious. It was such a hot day and the sun beating down this was the oasis we needed at the end of the day!!

Anytime we're in the area (a few times per season), we have to go here. The service and the ice cream are top notch. The portions are incredible.

There was even a time we got there near closing, and we witnessed the owner greeting people at their cars, politely letting them know they were closed, and giving them all free ice cream cups. THAT was impressive.

The line looked long but moved fast! I had the cotton candy flavor & it was great. Only suggestion is a dairy free ice cream alternative for those who can't eat dairy and don't like sorbet :)

The staff is extremely friendly, and now I see why the line is so long at this place, the ice cream is phenomenal and the quality and creations are waaaay better than places like Dairy queen. We were in and out pretty quick. Highly recommend this place!!!!

Great location, and really tasty ice cream! They've got loads of outdoor seating, and a surprising amount of covered seating too. There's a very good reason why this place is so popular!

These folks are unbelievable. We were here with friends during the busiest time of the day on a Sunday and they still handled everyone gracefully and efficiently. Every single one of the ice cream flavors was just amazing. Loved toasted coconut (when though I don’t even like coconut ice cream that much), butternut pecan(salty creamy), chocolate (super soft, creamy, and not overly sweet), and the mix of blackberry+French silk. We stayed in line twice to get “Pig’s dinner” twice! I noticed they’ve turned around nearly 100 customers in less than half an hour and you could barely notice it. Staff were so friendly and helpful and restrooms were super clean. The whole place has a lovely vibe to it.

Excellent ice cream. Large servings. Since they no longer have much indoor seating they need to expand their outdoor seating. Some more picnic tables with umbrellas is a must.

Visited family out in Michigan for the first time. Sherman’s ice cream is a MUST stop it was a hot day before the end of summer and it was so worth it. The line looks so long but didn’t even feel that way at all. I got a single scoop and I couldn’t believe the size of it. My son was in ice cream heaven. Best prices around, I wish there was one in my state.
