The Smokehouse of Laurel

Absolutely slaps! The ribs were so tender and effortlessly dissolved from the bone. The potato salad and potato casserole were jammin as well. I had 2 ribs and a smoked sausage and it was perfect. If I'm ever in Laurel again, I will certainly be back for seconds. 10/10

Stopped here while visiting family in the area. Most of us got the ribs and they were smoked perfectly. Great flavor with just the slightest pull off the bone. The loaded potato salad and bbq sauce were also highlights. The one thing I thought was kind of strange were the baked beans made with pineapple. They weren’t bad, just odd in my opinion and not my style. Would definitely recommend this place if in the area.

Legit Smokehouse Barbeque
This is one gem of a smokehouse! We were road tripping and wanted some good southern que and found this place on the internet. We got there around 11:30 am on a Monday and there were a few diners inside. The drive-up window was already doing a brisk business. Within an hour every table was full - clearly a local favorite and the drive-up window had a long line. The scent of smokehouse hits you as soon as you enter, subtle and inviting. You order and pay at the counter at the back of the dining room where you'll see a couple guys in the kitchen scrambling to put to orders together. The menu board has everything you would want at a smokehouse. We both chose brisket sandwiches. When we asked the staff about the difference between the small ($6.99) and large sandwich ($8.99) they assured us large is what we wanted. My wife had just the sandwich, I had the Large Sandwich Plate ($12.50) which included 2 sides. I chose cole slaw and green beans. They have cans of soda for $1.00. The staff brings your order to the table when ready. The brisket has just enough smoke and is perfectly tender with just a little sauce. The bun is soft, yet sturdy enough to not fall apart from the juiciness. Total brisket heaven!! The cole slaw was tastier than most and I suspect the green beans were from a can and they always taste good to me. I wandered around back and there was the smoker that gets the job done. Not one of those converted propane tanks, but a higher tech stainless thing of beauty! The service is quick, the taste is sensational and we love to support small businesses like this one.

Great little place to get some BBQ. I had the Ribs, Pork & Beef plate with coleslaw and potato salad. The wife had the Chicken & Beef with baked beans and coleslaw. The food was well prepared and seasoned fine. The bbq sauce on table was good.

The staff was very pleasant and the atmosphere was that of a hunting camp.

We will definitely come back in the future.

This place has the kind of good inexpensive southern cooking that this northerner always looks for when traveling in the south. The ribs were very meaty and the fried okra very fresh. If I come through Laurel again I know where I'll eat.

On Sawmill Road just outside of historic downtown Laurel, MS is a small, red building sitting in the middle of a gravel parking lot offering some of the tastiest wood- smoked chicken and homemade coleslaw we have ever tasted. Service inside and out is terrific, friendly, efficient. Not a lot of inside seating (7 tables for about 30-35 people), but a lot of the business appears to be carry out. The ladies' restroom was clean and cute. The piece de resistance of our meal was a true Southern pound cake - the best of eggs, butter, sugar and a hint of lemon in a dense slice with a gently browned top crust. Laurel is nice, but the Smokehouse of Laurel is the destination.

Good little barbecue joint. Good portions and fairly tasty.

Found on Google search & so glad we did!!! Sausage was so good, the BBQ sauce adds such flavor to all the meat we tried (chicken, brisket, ribs, & sausage). The staff are so friendly!!! Definitely recommend & will be back.

Driving through the area on a road trip and stopped by for lunch. We had a rib plate with Mac and cheese and slaw and a pork and coleslaw sandwich with fries. Everything was really good. If you can't decide, I'd rate the ribs slightly above the pulled pork, they were super tender. Staff was friendly and the interior was clean.

This place puts out some great tasting BBQ. We really enjoyed the food and price wasn’t bad either.

Amazing food, amazingly nice staff. Had the pulled pork plate today with house bbq sauce for lunch. All of it was absolutely great but oddly enough I must point out the coleslaw. I have eat’n at bbq joints all over the country, made slaw myself to be proud of… but this glorious southern salad was unexpectedly the star

We were undecided as to what we wanted for dinner. So glad we chose this place. The meat was so tender. Potato casserole was delicious and so were the beans. The only thing that would have made the meal better was if the bread they give you was toasted. Everything was piping hot.

Really glad we saw the restaurant early today & came bk. The owner was extremely nice, as was everyone we interacted with. Food was good & we are stuffed. Would highly recommend, & stop by again if we are ever bk. in the area.

Doug and his team have produced quality BBQ for years. I’ve made the Smokehouse a weekly part of my diet for probably 5 years now, and I have not once regretted stopping by. In particular, their wings are never talked about but incredibly underrated and their smoked chicken is easily the best in town. Trying to find good BBQ, especially in the South where standards are so high, can sometimes be hard to do, but Laurel’s answer is simple: just look for the pig.
