Located not far from the Mount Dora Lighthouse, this medium-sized park has a shelter area with picnic tables, playground facilities with climbing features including one shaped like a pirate ship, a walking trail, public restrooms and even barbecue grills. The playground was getting a pretty good workout for a weekday afternoon.

A reasonably sized parking lot where I left the van for a walk around the park.

Gilbert Park is named for the person who donated the land, Earl Gilbert.

Gilbert Park is a beautiful place for all ages. The playground is prefect for active kids and the boardwalk is a great nature walk to see wildlife. Sitting and looking out at the lake is spectacular! We love going here whenever possible and brings family here to visit as well.

I love this park. There's playground equipment for all ages. You can explore the Pirate Ship with all the climbing and slides. You can run off some excess energy or relax. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables for eating.

My family and I went after eating Thanksgiving dinner. We walked around, enjoyed the sunset off the water. Absolutely beautiful! We walked the trails there. Caution, there are alligators, so be alert! They will come right up to the bank and watch.
Definitely recommend this park as it also has two great play areas for kids.

Loved this park! Great area for kids to explore and lots to do. Gated area so kids can't run off. Clean bathrooms.

Great playground for kids between 2-12 years of age. There is a pirate ship theme to the play area. There is also a play area for smaller kids to run and play.

A wonderful park with play spaces for bigger and smaller kids with lots of shade. Covered tables and picnic areas and a short walk to the waterfront and lighthouse make this a great place to visit.

We took a school group here at the end of May. Be advised that while the park is still open, it is undergoing renovations, so not all the children's activities are still open. Clean bathrooms, lots of shade, plenty of picnic tables, fun playground equipment and open space to run. Great park near downtown Mount Dora.

Been coming to this park for at least 25 years and watched it expand and improve over the years. It's a great place and the kids always love it. The playground is plenty big enough and clean! Plenty of places for parents to sit and clean bathrooms, with picnic area under pavilions too. Great place for family outings and/or Birthday parties. Sufficient parking. There's a waterfront lighthouse just across the street, and also a fishing pier or 3, and a long wooden boardwalk along the water, as well as nature trails, and benches to sit along the way. Pets are allowed, on a leash of course.

We drove from Apopka to Mt Dora for a family birthday party today at Gilbert Park. It was very nice & well laid out. The pirate ship was adorable and the scenery is very relaxing and nice. The pavilions beef be cleaned out on your own if you rent from it. I would say the only thing they need is some kind of an outdoor cleaning treatment semi regularly and then it would be perfect. 👍

A very well kept park with a beautiful little creek. There is a playground that looked quite large and spacious to accommodate lots of little ones. We didn't venture too far into the park but it was really nice. Enjoyed the sights of the creek more than anything, as the soothing sounds of the running water was quite calming. If you have littles, would be a great spot to wear them out.

Our daughter loves this park. Lots of kids, sometimes little critters like caterpillars but all in all, fun for the kids. Has two separate play areas, one for smaller children and one for the bigger kids. Although the only complaint I have is teenagers like to hang around and sometimes act or speak inappropriately. But that’s not really the parks fault.

The playground is a good place to bring your little one. I took Mallory, my 8 year old stepdaughter there today, and it was packed with other kids to play with. Being a social creature, she was playing with another little girl within 30 seconds. I'm not kidding! The pirate ship they have was being put to good use, as well as the rope climbing setup. There are benches and picnic tables scattered about, some in nice shady locations. I like to get some reading in while she plays, but always keep her in sight, or at least within earshot. It's very safe, and there are parents everywhere keeping watch over the kids. There is a public restroom close by, and a short walk takes you to the lighthouse, or out on a nature walk.
My wife and I have spent a few quiet nights sitting out by the lighthouse looking out over the water as well. It's a great place to go for many reasons...nature hikes, picnics, the lake, the playground. If you're in Mt Dora, it should be a required stop.

Has changed so much . My kids loved it now my granddaughter gets to enjoy it as a beautiful new pirate ship loaded with slides and climbers. Fun for all and a feast for the imagination. Friendly children play here. God love them.

Very nice, big and cool park. Love the pirate ship...I've never seen one before at a playground. Beautiful setting under big Grandfather oaks. Clean, safe and family friendly. Playground has a section for smaller kids and bigger kids and is fenced. Park is on the water with boat ramps, sidewalks, playground and picnic pavilions.

Gilbert Park was a fun experience. This is a great spot for bird and gator watching. We spotted a few different varieties of fowl, and the small walk to the kids pirate ship in the park was fun as well.
