El Cerro Grande Mexican Restaurant

Spent Cinco De Mayo at this wonderful place! It was packed, and no wonder why!!! The food was absolutely wonderful! You definitely get what you pay for and then some!!! Drinks were on point!! Service was excellent!!! So good we had shots to celebrate 🍾!!! Prices are just right that I will definitely be going back!!! I highly recommend it!!!

Fantastic! Sit down Mexican food. Highly recommend the burrito grande. White staff was very pleasant and attentive. Place. Could use a good scrub though.

***Third Visit*** When you visit Wilmington and you want authentic Great Mexican food with an AWESOME VIBE come visit El Cerro Grande! I’ve completed a couple reviews on this awesome place but the 3rd time might have been even better than the previous two! El Cerro Grande which comes with two enchiladas, chili relleno, taco, tostada + rice & beans! I also tried their Fish Taco’s, Chicken Fajitas, and you can’t go wrong with a cold Michalada or Beer of your choice! Super chill and the wait staff was excellent!

Went with a work group, we all had something different and everything was amazing. Service was friendly and on point. They were also good with a large group

I couldn't stop dancing to the music while eating this fantastic food! My favorites are the enchiladas and pollo a la crema. My son ordered the chimichangas with steak, my daughter enjoyed the chicken tenders and smiley fries, and my husband ordered the chori-pollo. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is great, the food never disappoints! It's the perfect family place and quite affordable.

I just moved to the area and found El Cerro via a Google search. It's going to be my go-to for Mexican food! I got the 2-item combo 2 nights in a row: 1 cheese enchilada and a chili rellano. Yum yum yum!!

Service was great! We enjoyed our food. Nothing to complain about. I hope they never change & continue to provide exceptional service and delicious food. Bathrooms were clean, my husband said men Bathroom was also clean, toilet paper dispenser was broken but he fixed it while he was there lol... Hope to visit again soon.

Great atmosphere, food was delicious, food presentation was phenomenal, music was very pleasant and you could actually speak to one another. Highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely will be back!

Worst restaurant to eat at. We only had the food for 2 minutes and the server (Patricia V) was already asking how we will settle the bill and then a minute after put the tab on our table. We didn’t even had time to enjoy our food. And my sister was still drinking her margarita and they were already getting the glass. The server looks bored and ready to go when it was only 8 pm by then. The weird thing was they did not treat the other costumers that way. Such a shame.

One of our favorites in wilmy! There’s usually no wait even when they are busy, staff is so friendly, and the menu is huge. I used to get quesadillas or fajitas but tried the chicken and rice with cheese sauce and I can’t go back. It’s sooo good! We start with queso and chips because yum. My bf drinks horchata which is really tasty. His dish was on a specials menu and let me tell you the creamy habanero sauce is so good I got extra for mine. It has a kick so if spicy isn’t for you steer clear. It was a seafood mix on rice topped with the sauce. Portions are huge and prices are reasonable.

We used to eat at the one on Carolina Beach Road and loved it, so when we moved we tried this one out today. Waited a few to be seated, even though it wasn't that busy. Once seated, we got our drinks and chips/salsa right away. The chips were warm and the salsa was just spicy enough. Our dishes were brought quickly. I had the burrito Pardo and it was delicious! Portions are huge and enough for me to have leftovers later. Will definitely be back!

The food is delicious! Their customer service is always great! We had a big order and they were very kind and careful to make sure our order was taken correctly. Highly recommend!

This place has great food and friendly service. Their recent renovation has really improved the process of getting a table when it’s busy! Decent prices as well and the margaritas are great! It can be a bit loud inside, but not unbearable.

I've been to Mexico multiple times and grew up mostly in the southwest US. This place is easily the best, most authentic Mexican food I've had in North Carolina. Caesar was an excellent server and took great care of us. Portions are huge and everything was so tasty. My husband loves extremely hot food and the hot salsa they served with chips made him sweat. We are so happy to have found such a good Mexican restaurant in Wilmington. We will be back.

Though my wife and I went on graduation night, service was great. We didn't have to wait for a table, which was a win. The food was incredible!

Went to El Cerro after work with a friend.

Atmosphere:
Everyone who worked there was super nice. The music was very nice as a background sound. Not too loud either. It was someone's birthday, so they got sung to and it was warm and lively.

Service:
The hostesses and the waitstaff were super nice and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend on friendliness alone.

Our order:
Freebie chips and salsa - all you could eat and the salsa was wonderful!

Steak Fajita Quesadilla - Soooo flavorful.

Veggies and steak were cooked perfectly. Nice and cheesy queso in the quesadilla :D

Chicken chimichanga - My friend said they loved how it was deep friend with the right amount of crunch but wonderfully soft on the inside.

2 small Frozen Strawberry Margaritas - delicious

Overall Thoughts:
Delicious and reasonably priced food served by nice awesome people!

Fast seat time and always have parking availability as it's in a strip mall corner.

Quick seating time once arrived.

The food is always great here and that staff are very nice!

Always start with the Horchata and make our way to the nachos with queso, which are fantastic.

I am a huge fan of their Enchiladas personally but tried the special this time, which was great! I loved the hebanero sauce they had !
