What a wonderful hardware store.

I had help as soon as I walked in the door.

Found a cute present for my daughter,
and they even made a key for an odd lock I couldn't get done anywhere else!

They have what you can't find at the warehouse stores.

Thanks Dorn!

I have used Dorn Ace Hardware as my neighborhood hardware store for over 25 years. The personnel are knowledgeable and eager to assist. They treat me with respect and never act like my questions about 'do it yourself' projects are stupid. Their prices are fair and their business hours are convenient. This is a great place to visit to keep business local here in Madison.

Dorn hardware store well stocked like most ace, hardware, stores, and the people at Dorn are super Duper helpful!

I went in looking for brass fittings for propane hosing it was a little confusing, but Kevin stuck with me the whole time and we found the parts and I was off and anyway!

I love this, Ace Hardware store!

My favorite hardware store in Madison and most likely all of Wisconsin. I find everything I need at this store. Go downstairs to the fishing store for all my Musky fishing needs also. I'd rather buy my stuff here than a big box store. I got all my bathroom stuff here and I probably saved $1000 if not more. Best part is they are locally owned! Just the best place in town!

Dorn Ace Hardware has been in this location as far back as I can remember and although I'm not a regular customer, they still make me feel like a part of their family every time I shop there. A great teamwork of people that go way out of their way to assist me in finding items or taking as much time, (within reason) to answer many of my lengthy questions. Now that I moved back to the Westside of Madison, WI., I'll be shopping here more often👍!

Very helpful. All I had for me this time was copies of my new keys. ( they all worked just fine. : - ) )

If Dorn doesn't have it, you probably don't need it. I prefer Dorn to the Super store nearby. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I drive by Home Depot to get to this store.Help your self to a cup of coffee at the entrance and buy an ice cream on the way out. Wonderful service that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time in to a small town hardware store. You will rarely enter without a greeting and an offer to help.
You will be amazed at the variety of things for sale, pots and pans, to nuts and bolts. You won't find a better selection of bolt sizes at larger hardware stores. Home Depot recommended I go to Dorn because they didn't have what I needed.
Gavin solved my puzzling hardware problem and when he noticed loose nuts on the item I brought, tightened them all. Appreciated that, saved me another trip to the store. Never thought I would have a favorite hardware store but I do now.

I love this place. I really do. The staff are so friendly. They know so much and will give you genuine, helpful advice, even if it means you buy less - they won't up-sell you into anything unless it is truly vital for what you're trying to accomplish. Do yourself, and local businesses a favor. COME HERE FIRST to buy what you need. Go to a big box store only if they can't get it. These folks deserve your patronage. Not because they put on an act for your pennies, but because they know their stuff, they want to help, and if you ask questions you will learn from them. My woodworking projects turned out beautifully because of their advice.

Amazing inventory selection. This is my go-to place for finding replacement hardware that is compatible with the style of an older home. You could spend all day trying to find what you want (meanwhile finding amazing things that you did think any store carried anymore), so ask the staff for help. In my experience, they are always helpful. Because of the wide range of products, they may only have a few of each, but they will help you complete a rain check order if you can wait a week or so for a larger number of items.

I've always been able to find the parts I need there, but beyond that, I recently brought a PC case for a computer I was building and the floor worker there (I should have caught his name) offered to help me out for free to remove some rivets so I could expand a slot to fit the PSU I wanted. This was a huge relief as I don't personally own a drill and the fact that he did it for free (since it only took a few minutes) was the icing on the cake.

All in all, I had a great experience there that really made my day (and my PC build possible) and I will certainly be going back there again when in need of new parts or service!

This little store keeps holding on despite Home Depot across the way and a major never-ending construction project affecting their access, and now the pandemic. The reason is their huge selection of useful merchandise in a small space and their excellent customer service and knowledgable staff. The opposite of a big-box store. I make a point to shop there and hope they continue to survive!

Yet another reason why your local hardware store is infinitely better than the Big Box stores. Extremely helpful staff just spent ~30 minutes with me, first 15 minutes searching for a very specific machine screw, then another 15 minutes custom cutting (using their band saw) the tiny screw to length --- all for two $0.89 screws! Just goes to show that the true quality establishments still see "profit" in the long term, beyond the single transaction.

I have been coming to this hardware store for 20 years, since I was a kid and would bike there and pester them for advice on how to fix things. They have everything, including the small obscure screws and parts no other store stocks. The staff is knowledgeable and can advise you on most or all projects. They can do some small repairs in store. The prices are not outrageous, many items are actually cheaper than the big box stores. This is what you want a locally owned hardware store to be.

As always, helpful staff with a complete set of DIY materials for plumbing, electrical, and home improvement. Also a large collection of useful gadgets you wouldn't know you couldn't live without without visiting an perusing the well-organized aisles.

I lost a screw from my hand lens this summer, and the screws for it are ridiculously tiny. I went to Dorn and they were extremely helpful, going as far as to personally find screws that would fit and patch it together. Though I spent only $1.15 on that, and an additional ~$3.50 on some krazy glue, I still had the full attention and attentiveness of two employees for about 30 minutes helping me with my problem. I'll definitely be returning for all future hardware needs.

Needed a a dead bolt re-keyed today for a project I was working on. "Dave" was able to do this in a manner of minutes while I waited. He was also very helpful with my questions. They were also significantly less expensive than any local locksmith for this service. Dorn True Value also carries many of my favorite brands for other projects and are my go to store when I'm in a pinch. Great asset to Madison and surrounding communities.
