Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary

Small but beautiful. Stay on the path and you can sit down at the seating area. The time I went I got to see endangered birds. The native plant project had native plants on the thin strip of land going to the seating area.
It's nice and quiet. There is plenty of parking for the size of the park. It is quite small but it has signage explaining the birds that call the marsh home.

Beautiful spot for birding, nature is the best.. saw some different species.

Parking, easy access and some amazing wildlife easily seen from the blind. A bird watchers must. No restrooms.

Nice, quiet place to get away from the crowds. Nice half mile board walk along the beach and thru wetlands. Lots of birds. And it's free.

Maui was very nice a once in a lifetime trip or to come again would not hurt!

Great venue for observing water birds--usually in greater numbers and in great variety than at Kealia Ponds. Small roofed observation hut helpful here to cope with always passing Maui rain showers. Go Already!

Love this place to visit before we go back to mainland. Near airport. A pair of nenes were in the small parking lot with a gosling. We carefully without stressing them shepherded them back through the gate and into the Refuge. Saw Hawaiian stilts, about a dozen northern shovelers!, And a single shorebird: Pacific plover? Have to look later at the photos we took. Simply a lovely short walk and virtually no one is usually there. Relaxing

A favorite of ours to visit on the day we leave. Near the airport. Peaceful, never many people. Always see birds. Small parking lot. Short walk to covered shelter that juts out into pond. An oasis of calm amid busy streets and shops.

Underrated place in Maui. We stumbled upon this place as our toddler got hungry and needed a place to offer him lunch. Great spot to watch birds, watch planes takeoff from OGG.

Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to see birds. It is an easy place to walk with no hills and nicely maintained trails/dirt roads. Birds I have sighted include: Nene, Ae'o (Hawaiian Stilt), Hawaiian Coot, Hawaiian Duck, Snow Goose, Common Myna, Zebra Dove, Night Heron, Kolea (Pacific Golden Plover)... I have seen deer tracks but no deer.

windy place great for sail boarding ,swimming ,fishing,biking,picnic,parties,its full of trees too ,lucky we love here.

You can see some incredible indigenous birds here, like the Hawaiian Stilt for example. If you are lucky, you may see them flying around. Just look for those crazy pink legs of theirs.

Very small place yet worth visiting. These birds are protected and I hope to see there numbers increase.

We found a little pull out parking area and had the whole beach to ourselves. Wonderful!

Wonderful little bird sanctuary in the middle of downtown Kahului Maui. A nice tranquil spot to sit and read a good book.
