Dr. Sheppard is a true professional. He is not only excellent as a surgeon. He’s a nice and caring person. Anyone in the North Alabama area who needs to be able to trust their general surgeon, will find Dr. Sheppard to be an excellent choice.

Dr. Sheppard has the BEST bedside manners! I trust him with my moms care, he takes time to explain, and answer questions, & go over the “if any’s”. Dr. Sheppard himself has even called her on a holiday weekend to give her results and not make her wait, and for that we are grateful. He’s a kind man. We highly recommend him.

I don't normally leave reviews, but I will make an exception for Dr. Sheppard. Dr. Sheppard met with me and my wife prior to surgery to discuss the procedure. He was patient and polite while he answered our questions. He offered to say a prayer for me prior to surgery. It's refreshing to meet someone in his position that is personable and authentic. I had no issues with the umbilical hernia repair surgery that he performed. In fact, I only had to take two Tylenol during my recovery. I highly recommend using Dr. Sheppard if the opportunity arises.

After surgery - Everything went smoothly. I didn't have much pain. No side effects. Dr Sheppard was great as well as the entire staff. Dr Sheppard ask if he could pray with me before surgery. That was the ultimate comfort. I am 3 weeks post surgery and feeling great!

Dr. Sheppard is who you want to see if you need surgery. I had umbilical hernia surgery 20 Nov 23. Dr. Sheppard explained the surgery procedure to my husband and I when we saw him in his office. The day of surgery, he prayed a beautiful prayer, listening to his voice was so very calming and comforting. He has a great bedside manner, answers any questions in a way you can understand, he just puts you at ease. The surgery I had was 5 hours. Dr. Sheppard did the surgery using the robotics so incisions were minimal in size. The nurse called my husband every hour to update him. After the surgery, Dr. Sheppard called my husband and let him know the surgery went well and I was in recovery. I had my 4 week check up today, 14 Dec 23. Dr. Sheppard was very happy with my healing progression and so am I. Dr. Sheppard is the best surgeon I have ever had. I would definitely recommend him for any surgery!

Dr Sheppard is the best surgeon ive ever had (unfortunately I’ve had plenty of surgeries). I had some serious stomach issues that no one else could figure out except Dr Sheppard. I can’t give him enough stars. I recommended him more than anyone else!!!!

Office nice and clean. Staff friendly and efficient. Not overly long waiting period. Dr. Sheppard was informative, direct, not as condescending as average doctors, has a sense of humor and put my husband and me at ease. More importantly, he suggested meds and otc supplements to help prepare for surgery and recovery. I've had many surgeries and he is the first to offer the preparation for healthier surgical outcome.

Dr. Ray Sheppard is great human and a greater doctor. He came to pre-operating area explained process and ensured my wife and I that he would take of me. He asked if it was ok we pray together and finally we prayed together, where he asked God to guide him through the surgery because is all powerful. I had three surgeries in the past from other good a surgeon, the different, Dr. Sheppard make you feel you are in good hands and he will do his best. Dr. Sheppard, I highly recommend his service.

While needing to have your gallbladder out is in of itself an unpleasant experience, Dr Sheppard is an amazing surgeon and my experience was tremendously positive. First he is very thorough to make sure all your questions or concerns are answered. The care he has for his patients is something we don’t see in today’s medical community. This man prayed with me before my surgery and that in of itself speaks volumes about his faith and care he has for his patients. Dr Sheppard has been following up with me for going on two years after my surgery. He is always very attentive and answers all my questions. Very much interested in my recovery and well being. BTW, I had hernia surgery which I understand he has pioneered a new way to perform.

I appreciated Dr. Sheppard’s care and surgical skills when I had recent gallbladder issues. He doesn’t rush you and he shows genuine concern for the patient.

I got my appointment place mixed up and Dr. Sheppard waited for me to get from Huntsville to Madison. Staff is very professional and kind. Dr. Sheppard took enough time with me to discuss my surgery, he didn't push my about having the surgery but let me decide myself. Very nice bedside manor. He was my husbands surgeon also. Dr. Sheppard was a very personable and skillful surgeon to work with. He explained how he would do the procedure I needed at our first meeting, and his office was accommodating when it came time to schedule my surgery. He was caring and compassionate the morning of surgery, and he even remembered my request for pictures and shared them with me post-op! I didn’t have any complications and healed nicely. I could not have been more pleased with the care I received from Doctor Sheppard and his office in Madison.
