Akira Ramen Sushi & Izakaya

We decided to go for an early dinner and give it a whirl. We were greeted promptly and sat in a booth.
Dan was our server. Very polite. Attentive.
We started with hot tea & water. Then an order of edamame & brussel sprouts. It is marked as spicy but we did not find it to be spicy. It was very flavorful.

Would order both again.

We ordered the I-270 roll which we found to be refreshing. It was fresh in flavor and taste overall. Would order again.
We ordered a spicy tuna crunch roll which was good as expected. Nothing plus or minus here but overall good. Would order again.
We also had the coco roll. 10/10. Would order again all day.

We then jumped into ramen.
I had the tantanmen which I added corn & mushroom to. Flavor was good. Spice was appropriate for flavor and taste not just to be “spicy”. Would recommend.
Wife had the shrimp tempura ramen and she normally gets karaage chicken bowls. She liked it. I tasted her broth which I thought was very good too. Seriously though, get an order of the mushrooms (if you like mushrooms, they were packed with flavor in whatever sauce they are marinating).

Total was around a bill pre tip. Would go back. Would recommend.

First time going to this restaurant and I loved it. When you first arrive, they greet you by saying “welcome” in Japanese. The atmosphere was awesome, loved the decoration. The service was also amazing. Best sushi I had, hands down. The seafood is fresh. Only downside, my wife and her brother got the food before me. They were almost done when I got my food. However, we loved this place. Highly recommended.

The starters were all superb. Cozy interiors with nice staff. We had a great experience. The Robot server adds to the vibe.

I am allergic to shell fish. They were able to accommodate and make my sushi safe.

My kids had Ramen they loved it. This one is going on our repeat list.

Claudia was our server and she is one of the friendliest servers I have ever met. She is fantastic. Our group tried different dishes. Takoyaki was good. I liked Ramen the most. Mochi dessert was good as well. However this restaurant needs better kids menu. They have fried rice and Ramen for kids. I ordered fried rice but it was too salty and garlicky even for me, and my kid did not eat. I also ordered chicken tender for my child but it was chicken yakitori with wasabi sauce on top. I was quite surprised. Kids are usually picky about food. It would have been great if they had tonkazu, real chicken tender (not yakitori), or French fries for kids.

I had the wagyu beef cooked in front of me on the hot stone. For one, it was nice to see it prepared in front of me. For two, the server was extremely pleasant. Additionaly I had the sushi appetizer and several yakitori skewers. The chicken thigh was incredibly juicy and the beef and corn were flavorful as well. I will most definitely be coming back again!

A very nice izakaya. Glad there is one in the area. Theres a good selection of shared plates. The main dishes are mostly ramen. We had the combo skewers, the pepper, and the octopus balls. The prices were reasonable. The only setback was the strange lack of beer choices :(

I stopped through on the way back from DC and I was blown away. I got the vegetarian ramen with 2 eggs and every part of this meal was delightful. Not only was it delicious, but also prompt—they got me in and out in a cool 30 minutes. Quick, fresh, delicious, and nourishing. Couldn’t recommend it enough. I’ll be back on my next trip into DC!

My friends and I went to this place for a lunch.Our server Evalina was very nice. Akira was a samll restaurant located in Frederick. The restaurant interior is decorated so pretty and clean giving off wonderful vibe. We ordered couple dishes,Everything tasted very good, Higher quality sushi and super fresh, And I especially liked the broth of my volcano Ramen, very rich,creamy and flavorful. Also I would like recommend my favorite—Takoyaki ( Octopus balls) It’s AMAZING!!!This is a must try restaurant with great ambience ,kind services ,and affordable price. We will be back definitely 🥰🥰🥰

We visited Akira Ramen Sushi & Izakaya for the first time tonight and WOW...we were very impressed!The vibe is relaxing and the atmosphere is amazing. The staff was great. Bryce took care of us and was super friendly and very knowledgable. We tried the Volcano Ramen and Japanese Wagyu-both were absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back soon! Big shout to Bryce again for all the information and laughs throughout the evening!

By far the best tasting ramen I have tasted in DMV area. Generous servings with free noodle. Ramen broth is very tasty. You might also want to try the spicy ramen challenge where its free if you finish it in 15min.

Had dinner at the new Akira Ramen & Izakaya restaurant in Urbana tonight. The entrees and sides were all super delicious. I had the Akira Ramen noodles and my wife had the Uni Wagyu Donburi. The Shishito Peppers and the Brussel Sprouts were really awesome too! The manager and servers were great too. Even a robot to bring your dishes to you 😁

It was a very pleasant experience for me and my family! The food is great, service great, ambiance great! I wish I would have taken photos. One complaint. I ordered the short ribs and was disappointed in portion size. The portion for the short ribs was too little. Please reconsider this. Other than that all the flavors were popping! We will be back soon!

Delicious ramen, and good house sake. Staff were friendly and busy and let us know before we were seated it was busy and there would be a wait, we were not in a rush and it was fine. The robots only move the dishes around not actually deliver!

Excellent Japanese cuisine! Sushi was fresh and there were great variety of options to choose from. The fried calamari was served with a perfect balance of moisture and crunchiness. The service was very well on top of that. We were given recommendations and there were many other staff members that helped clean up our tables and offer refills. Definitely a worthy visit!

We had a lovely first time experience. From Josh our server , to appetizers, ramen and sushi, we tried out a bit of everything
The ramen broth was delish, my daughter got plain broth and noodles accompanied by fried chicken bites. Friend tried Japanese curry and I ate sushi.

First time eating here today with my husband. The whole experience was great. Our waiter Simon was amazing in explaining the whole menu to us as well as giving us recommendations. The Brussels sprouts on the appetizer menu are to die for! They are deep fired and topped with Japanese 7 spice. We will be coming back again.

The tonkatsu broth is exquisite and all the toppings for the ramen 🍜 is tasty. Fresh sushi, beautiful interior decor, great staff. The plates and utensils are also tastefully selected. The only thing needing improvement is the dessert since mochi came out frozen and not thawed or ready to eat

Firstly, I'd like to leave a review on our waitress Skylarr she was absolutely incredible and gave some of the best service I've ever expirienced.
I had the volcano ramen and while it wasn't as spicy as I'd hoped for it was delicious. The Jpop alcohol cans were phenomenal.
Lastly the atmosphere was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Josh took care of us during a our first time here. He was very attentive and professional. We have three kids and they we very accommodating. The ramen was outstanding and full of flavor.
