What a cute little restaurant... atmosphere was awesome, wait staff friendly and the food was probably the best Chesapeake Eggs Benedict I've had in a long time. Also great price for the quality.

I've only been to The Derby once with my wife while we were riding through New Market. The bar was small but the staff was very nice and attentive. We had a little snack and it was pretty good. We will be back to try it again.

It’s been a busy year and I’ve spent more time watching wonderful food on TV than I have spent eating at great restaurants. It’s been so long since I’ve eaten out and experienced so much thought put into a plate. I could almost hear the voice of Anthony Bourdaine (RIP) describing every bite over the chaotic background noise of Sunday morning breakfast.
The sausage gravy had tons of smaller than usual bits of sausage and with the seasoning turned out to be the best I’ve had.
The perfectly poached eggs and the hollandaise with I’m sure some nutmeg (?) may also be the best I’ve had.
The rye toast was an after thought to clean up my plate, and I nearly cried when I saw that Chef buttered my toast. Can’t remember the last time I didn’t have to drag cold butter across my dry toast, spreading the chunks the best I can whilst my food gets cold.
This place exudes world class service, and the next time life forces me thru an ihop, I’ll be shaking my proverbial fist at the Derby for not serving breakfast during the week!
Well done y’all.

Truly by far the best experience! Finding a place to eat while visiting family in hospice house and THIS was the highlight of my day! Such a beautiful and cozy place. The owner, server and all staff were amazing. And the food was absolutely phenomenal!! Highly recommend the fried chicken with cajun sauce meal, and the homemade peach cobbler! Go try them! Don’t walk, run!! ❤

My wife and I went there on Friday evening. We only wanted something light to eat. They took a shrimp salad order and a house salad order and split in in half for us both. It was very good and exactly what we wanted. They were very accommodating. I would highly recommend the Derby and we will be definitely going back. They also had a guy play acoustic guitar and his playing was also perfect for our mood.

The Derby is a favored place of mine! The staff are always friendly and the owner frequents and interacts with people. The seating inside is good and the outdoor seating is great! They being live music to entertain too,(not sure when). The food is always great, and very satisfying. The scallops dinner is priced well and you get so much. The crabby pizza is the best I’ve had around. The drinks are good and they have a full bar. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

My significant other and I went there for lunch today and sat on the patio. It’s a beautiful restaurant, we were sat immediately and the food came out quick. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Portions were huge! You really get what you paid for and they did not disappoint. The server Lexi was adorable and super sweet. She wasn’t overbearing and checked on us between entrees to make sure everything was good. She was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place and Lexi! 👍

The service was a bit slow. But the food was well worth the wait. They don't have any Islay Scotch to go with their seafood dishes, but I'll let that slide. Lol the staff was more then friendly.

What a unique and awesome experience this place is! The food is killer! And so are the drinks, especially from the outdoor crush bar! And the kids love getting ice cream and playing the games. And all the other kids were playing in the field on the side of the restaurant. The music playing. Good vibes.

Wonderful venue, with several different atmospheres for dining or hanging out. A regular restaurant area, a family-friendly outdoor patio with picnic type seating, and a traditional bar side. We were on a kid-free date, so no outdoor patio for us--and the indoor restaurant was a bit too structured plus we were looking to watch some football, so we quickly opted to pop back over to the bar side. Super happy they served the full restaurant/dinner menu in the bar where we chose to sit to enjoy some Sunday night football. Yet we still started with a huge portion of bar-food staple cheese fries (an app we probably didn't need!) which ended up almost being a meal in itself. For entrees, the husband had the sesame crusted tuna, with fire roasted asparagus and jasmine rice, and I had the short rib. HUGE portion of short rib chunks served with root vegetables and a tomato based ragu/gravy/sauce over mashed potatoes. Good, convincing slow-cooked (and very much homemade) flavor profile that absolutely fit the "comfort food" description the bartender gave. And I ate leftovers for 2 meals! Overall great atmosphere, with friendly patrons, and friendly bar staff, football on TV, and decent drink prices.

We just moved even closer to New Market from Frederick and this is sure to become one of our regular places.

I was home alone and didn't want to cook. So, where to go? One of my favorites placed of course ❣ "The Derby" 😊 They just changed over the menu, so I decided to try a couple new things. I got the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing and one of their NEW dinner entrees - Korean BBQ Salmon with rice and spinach. Oh my! It was PERFECT in every way. It all paired just right together. The funny thing was - after I got home - went to the kitchen for a napkin and came out with s glass of wine 🤣 Just going with the glow. Thank You Derby for a wonderful meal and friendly conversation!

I only have positive things to say about The Derby! We went to The Derby to check out their Rochester Platter (Garbage Plate, as Western New York natives will know it as). However, they have a good variety of bar food and traditional entrees. Our waitress was extremely nice and personable, the food came out fast and fresh. Parking was easy. Ambiance was extremely pleasant. Most importantly, everything was absolutely tasty! We will definitely be back again!

Omg. Monday burger night people! 1/2lb burger with unlimited toppings and amazing fries. The patty has to be an inch thick! You can not beat the price. Or the Firehouse shrimp or crabby burger...Spinach salad (new favorite!) or anything. And don't get me started on their breakfast (B-shift platter...just saying). Owners are super friendly and always seem to be in house. Waiters and waitresses are attentive even when busy. The Derby is the place to be. Were lucky enough to live in New Market but well worth the drive from anywhere.

Our new favorite place. The service is terrific and the food is wonderful. Plus you can get snowballs for dessert. Parking is easy. All around a good experience, for the second time.

Fantastic breakfast/brunch, especially the Chesapeake Benedict and the country-fried steak (B-Shift Platter). They also have an extensive dinner menu that doesn't disappoint.

The interior dining area is cozy, with a good mix of tables and booths. They also have a fun outdoor area with an ice cream shack and a fire pit. Seating on the deck area is a little tight.
