Got there about 7:30 am and the place was empty. I was looking for a easy loop, something a out of shape 69 year old could do. This trail was perfect. My dog liked it to.

Saturday morning 10am -12 noon, very few hikers.
Trail from parking lot is handicapped accessible and cleared of poison oak. All along this trail small toys have been deposited on rocks, in tree branches, secreted among branches. It was fun to look for and find them and then replace them further along the trail!
About half a mile to the river where there is a nice area along the water with sand, water access, and lots of big rocks to climb on.
There were many butterflies along the water line.
The return hike along the river is not accessible and was pretty well lined with poison oak. We only went a couple of hundred yards before turning back to exit on the better path.
Nice way to spend a couple hours with young children.
Very nice sites with picnic tables along the trail, but not at the water
Dogs welcome on leash..

Great young family trail that is easy to walk. Just be aware of the dinosaurs on the trail! Short loop walk with many variety of scenery, including the American River. Not advisable for bikes, but if you do, go clockwise on the trail to avoid a couple steeper uphill parts of the trail. Trail is within the trees to provide some shade during hot summer days.

Thoroughly enjoyed the sights sounds. I can't wait to go again! The trail with the toys hidden was absolutely astounding to me when I witnessed it in person. The wonder of it filled me with such joy. The ease of the trail is also commendable. We had a cooler chairs and backpacks. Everyone made it there and back safely and soundly. Everyone we met was also super kind hellos all around and good days to all. Thank you for this experience.

We were there for a new adventure, nothing really but a walk. I found out this area of trails; people like to hide painted rocks and dinosaurs. We didn't bring ours this visit, but we have a box full of our old ones we'd like to pass on to the next. It was a lesson for my kids, and they enjoyed re hiding all the ones they found.

There is little beach spots, the main beach we found was bigger than the others. Someone placed a rock wave barrier to help with the littles. Many small beach coves.
Our family will be going many more times

This is a nice little nature trail, about a mile long, with a defined trail and lots of bridges, perfect for any skill level! A lot of people call this the "Dino Trail" due to the little dinos and toys people will leave for little ones to move around and re hide. This trail goes along the river in a few spots as well so the changes in scenery make it more enjoyable as well.
I want to add, this trail is dog friendly, and off leash dog friendly in the beach spots where they can go swim in! Please keep dogs on leash on the trail though, as this trail is used by many people with pets and small children!

Nice short hike, mostly shaded trail. Do able with a jogging Stroller, but a few rough spots. Keep a eye out for little plastic dinosaurs along the path. Made a fun eye spy for the kids.

Loved this park!!! Absolutely beautiful and peaceful nature area! The trail is kept up, no debris, low lying branches or garbage. It's an easy loop that anyone can do and is also handicap accessible to a point. Theres a part of the trail that opens up to the river with a small beach for relaxing, taking in the sun or enjoying a picnic (bring a blanket!) It was amazing to see the rock wall knowing how long it's been there and how well its put together. The mushroom rock was cool and mysterious (we call it a giant clam!) The whole trail was just so peaceful! There were actually a few groups of kids (very young up to high school age) but we only ran into them once and didnt hear them on the rest of the trail. At the end of the trail there are two separated picnic tables to enjoy lunch. All in all it was a beautiful day and we will definitely be back and will be bringing friends!!

Must visit hike on the American River. Easy and short, very peaceful with hardly any visitors. If you wish you get to wade in the river after the short hike. N.B. No boat Access to American from here.

The trail is well maintained and while it isn't the most gorgeous trail I've ever walked, it had a huge madrone tree and an interesting rock formation to look at, plus some nice picnic spots with tables. I visited for the river access though, which was a short and easy walk and allowed me to get in the river after carefully stepping over some river rocks. What a great spot to come and relax! Right at sunset it wasn't too busy - only saw two other people. I would definitely suggest this as a nice spot to visit!

Very peaceful hike. So much fun hunting for all the little figures. Just a few places where you have to climb over down trees.

Great little hike outside town. Toys everywhere to spot while walking. It's about 45min walk around with lots of shade and a small water spot midway.

My favorite spot for a quick and easy walk with the kids and doggo. There is a nice sandy "beach" that is handicap accessible from the west trail entrance (to the right side of the parking lot when you are pulling in, by the bathroom).

Such a magical place. Be sure to bring dinosaurs with you to hide and be on the lookout for dinosaurs while you hike that you can re hide. The trail is easy and safe for all ages. Just please remember the pack in pack out rule and pick up after your dog. I had seen scraps of trash and a bag of dog poo along the trail but it was not filthy or unpleasant. I just want to make sure to keep this place amazing. Oh and the madrones are lovely to see, clean picnic areas with tables and mushroom rock is also a fav.
