Bayou City Angler

The folks at this shop helped me get all set to fish freshwater waterways in the bayou city when I moved here. Helped me learn a lot and catch some fish as a beginner fly angler. Tons of local know-how, great advice on fish activity, spots, and what fish may be eating. Nice fly selection, top of the line gear. They always offer something to drink and are super welcoming too.

Any place that offers you a beer when you walk in the door gets 4 stars right off the bat.
For knowledge, products and customer service gets another 5 stars making 9 total. I guess they’ll have to settle with 5 stars.

This shop is my go to for all fly fishing gear and attire. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and kind. Whether you need flies from local tyers and guides or quality name brands, this is the place to go. I have been a regular customer for about 2 years now but every time I walk in I'm given the same top tier service as I was the first time I walked in. They almost always have sales on clothing and rods, plus their flies are price fairly for their quality. They also provide you with guiding service advice and assistance. I would recommend no other fly shop in Houston, Texas than Bayou City Angler.

Bayou City Angler is awesome. It was a breath of fresh air speaking to employees that actually know what they are selling really well. Benjamin and all the guys were super cool and really helpful. This is a top of the line fly fishing store with all the best brands. I was happy to make a purchase, and will continue to shop here.

I love this place! Everyone here is super friendly and very knowledgeable. They even offered me water or soda while I looked around. I have been to some fly shops where the employees are very pretentious. The people at Bayou City Anglers are nothing like that. You can tell they love fly fishing and they want to share it with their customers. I will definitely be a regular customer for all my fly fishing needs.

Awesome fly shop with a super knowledgeable staff. They have every piece of gear, clothing, and fishing tackle you could ever need to fly fish in the salt, bayou, or freshwater. Huge selection of flies, rods, and reels, and they seemingly always have some sort of 25-50% off sale going on (lots of Patagonia, Simms, and Howler Bros up for grabs). They're always doing some sort of get together at the shop where they host a fly tier, guide, or speaker and provide free beer and drinks to all who come. Really top notch fly shop with a solid guiding business, too. I caught a grass carp and a mirror koi in Brays Bayou on one of their guided trips and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in urban fly fishing within Houston. The staff can also tell you where to fish and what flies to throw depending on what you want to catch. Overall - 10/10 operation hands down.

In a world of big box stores, Bayou City Angler shows that business can be done the "old-fashioned" way. Walking into BCA, you are greeted by smiles, hello's, and the offer of a beer. Selection of flies are great, with hatches ranging from the mountains of Colorado to the saltwater flats of Texas. Gear, clothing, and knowledge are in no short supply. What started as a quick trip to pick up a half dozen woolly buggers, turned into a 30 minute conversation over beer, on carp, a newfound determination to go out and fish at that exact moment, and another $40 gone from my wallet (excellent sales skills). This is a great place for experienced anglers and novices alike; there is no discrimination shown based on ability.

No shop circles itself around providing knowledge for the customer about EVERYTHING fly fishing and delivers the exact same level of customer service after the sale. These guys are the best at what they do because this is what they do. BCA has no bar to reach because they have set the bar and constantly find ways to continually raise it even higher. I’m a very proud
and regular customer of this shop even though I’m no longer in
HOU anymore. I’ve worked in the business from Island Park, Id to Swan Valley, Id, Durango, Co, to the Tx Coast. I’ve fished everything between key west and the Madison river. These guys are where I go to outfit everything I need or am out of. I also still ask their opinions because they are valuable and should be treated as such. No place on earth to cast a fly catches them by surprise. It’s always been a pleasure doing business at BCA, always.

Houston has needed a shop solely dedicated to fly fishing, and Bayou City Angler has definitely filled that void. The shop is centrally located with frontage on Westheimer Road, has easy access, and with ample parking.

The fishing equipment, supplies, and apparel departments carry only quality, name brand merchandise, so don't expect this shop to be a bargain store. They also have a full service rigging department and will rig or service almost any brand of reel.

Great service & great prices!

Really enjoy going here. One of the few spots I can get fly fishing gear. The staff is great and you can count on some helpful pointers and good local spots to get a line wet.
