I went yesterday to do an online pick up

They assured me over the phone that it would be done in less than 45 minutes and they completed my order within 10 minutes for my four items.

I also had a return and it went smoothly, great customer service :)

Had to ring the bell at fishing department for assistance and John went above and beyond helping me get some fishing gear. Even helped me and rigged it up. He exceeeed my expectations of what true customer service is and I was very happy leaving the store.

Large selection of sports and equipment. Went here for a fishing license and they were able to help me out no problem. Highly recommend this place for any sports related needs.

One of the best academy's I have been to. Appeared it was well managed. Loved the fast & organized check out line. Astros gear, what a selection. We were happy we went here, compared to Astros merchandise at ballpark this is a good discount. Also picked up my hunting license. Nice big store, friendly staff.

Great store, always very well stocked, amazing variety of sports equipment for ALL sports. I really like their own clothing line and have really good deals on private labels. Im a big fan of Academy in general!

Ammunition was organized but they got slammed. No .38, low on .45ACP. No magpul magazines over 20 rounds or any other brand.

Everything you need for your trip to the beach or fishing. Camping supplies, tents, these stores have it all for outdoor fun.

There's a special kind of sock that my husband loves, and Academy is the only place we can buy them.

Generally speaking, they are the all-round leader in the Sports & Outdoor market. IF you're looking for very specific things for a very specific sport/outdoor activity then perhaps a "specialty" store is the way to go.

Academy Sports + Outdoors is a great place to find sporting goods. They have a wide selection of items, including apparel, footwear, equipment, and more.

I recently went to the Academy Sports + Outdoors on Southwest Freeway, and I was impressed with the selection of items on sale. There were slightly more items on sale here than the I-10 and Bunkerhill location, which I appreciated.

I was able to find a great deal on a new water bottle, and I also picked up some new workout gear. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they were happy to answer my questions.

Overall, I had a great experience at Academy Sports + Outdoors. The selection of items was great, the prices were good, and the staff was helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for sporting goods.

I needed boots for a trip to Chicago and headed to Academy. Lucked up and scored these cuties for $29! I also bought Thermals (Long Johns) and they work great in Chicago's winter weather.
Store in always clean and in order. Checkout cashier was friendly and efficient.

Clean store, helpful employees. I went looking for sausage casings and was offered assistance while looking and conveniently found in the area where spices, pots and these kind of items are located. I was feeling adventurous and wanted to try to make boudin. Cashier was helpful even offered percentage on fat to meat ratio. Didn't know this!! It held the boudin and did it's job. My boudin was tasty, texture was off! Keep on trying!! Cheers!

Update: **As of March 2021Academy continues to give excellent service. I was able to replenish some emergency and camping gear that I used during the SUPER COLD spell we had in February. Useful camp gear such as Nebo Flip It lights, Sterno camp fuel, fleece blankets, and the like came in very handy during that cold snap, and I was glad to see that Academy had supplies on hand for replenishment, even with all the people who came in to replenish their supplies. They also did not try to price gouge their customers, when everyone was buying batteries, blankets, camp fuel, jackets, and the like. Way to go Academy.**

I've bought from Academy over many decades but the Academy off of the SW Freeway has been the one I've gone to most often. At first I went largely for the exercise and fitness equipment. They have a wide selection for weight training, boxing, martial arts, baseball, golf, biking, swimming, etc. However I soon noticed their excellent selection of optical, hunting, camping, sporting, and boating gear, and an expanding category of clothes and footwear as well. Additionally, consumer electronics such as wristwatches, Bluetooth speakers, and USB power banks are present as well. The quality is very good, and if for some reason you are not satisfied the return policy is very generous. The staff have always seemed to be friendly and professional, and there are enough Academy personnel around that you can get help very quickly if needed. They keep up with the latest trends so the gear and products are usually top notch and includes many high end name brands. Customer satisfaction seems to be very good too, as their stores always seem to have lots of people. Overall it's a very nice one stop shop for a large number of outdoor related activities such as hunting, fishing and bird watching, sports, family events,,and obtaining your hunting license.

Academy is the Swiss Army knife of all stores. They have everything you need and stuff you don’t even know you need but you definitely also need. I get in trouble for spending too much money here but it’s just the best place in Houston to buy things. They usually have ammo in stock but also always have running shoes in stock. If you need a grill, they have it. If you don’t need a grill but kind of want a grill, they have it. I bought a lighter here 5 years ago, and even through a decent amount of use (candles) it is still full of lighter fluid. My dog loves to walk around in here so I use that as an excuse to go to academy.

Best Academy you can shop at in Houston. Their selection is amazing. They have the best fan gear you can find. I could spend thousands of dollars here.
