Parker and Otis

I’m a sucker for cute shops and this one is at the top of the list. What a beautiful shop! First there Lavender Latte is perfection 😍 it’s smooth and creamy and if you add extra Lavender you won’t regret it. I also like to grab an Ice coffee w/ Lavender syrup when the weather is good. My son loves there Cheddar biscuits that they have everyday where you can just grab and go. I treat myself once in a while to the chocolate bar and it’s always fresh. I haven’t tried much of the food to be honest but I shop here often. They have everything you need for ANY occasion, and any person. Actually there selection of Black children’s books is one of the best in the city. My son try’s to get a new book every time we visit. I really appreciated seeing all the black faces on books because sometimes we are left out, and seeing my son’s face light up when he saw someone who looked like him was all the more reason to shop. From plushies, to candles, to wine, to cookbooks, to candy there literally is something for everybody. In addition to the store just being super cute it’s in America Tobacco campus so after you shop and grab food you can lounge on the grass or rocking chairs and take it all in. Bravo 🙌🏾 to this shop and I would definitely suggest this place for out of towers to locals.

I love the beautiful and eclectic decor, gifts, and gourmet food and treats here. The pimiento cheese was fabulous and a great price. It's nice that they have grab and go food for convenience as well as items made fresh to order. This is a special Durham destination surrounded by the beautiful Tobacco Campus. I will definitely be meeting friends here and am putting it on my list for visiting family and friends to experience the best of Durham.

I love Parker and Otis! It’s an adorable local gift store (with an impressive jellycat collection) plus coffee/sandwich bar. The sandwiches are really of substantial sizes (and exceptional quality) and can serve as real lunches. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating inside the Tobacco campus. Overall an excellent place for brunch with friends or informal dates! I’d bring my parents here when they are in town.
P&O does get a little busy with little kids, etc. so I personally wouldn’t study here for a long period of time.

I've always loved P&O for the quirky gift shop, but I recently tried their food for the first time and I was upset that it took me so long! The BLT with pimento cheese is exceptional. The sandwich was huge! They are also the only place in town with birch beer and the outdoor seating area is unbeatable on a nice day.

What a delightful mercantile and cafe right by DPAC & DBAP! Eclectic selections of snacks and drinks and grabbed a yummy couple of sandwiches plus a healthy and yummy yogurt parfait for our son before seeing Lion King matinee. Daughter found a good book to read for the trip. What a treat!

We were staying at a hotel nearby and wanted some good tea and coffee. We came across this gem near the baseball park.

It is a gift shop and a pastry/lunch/coffee shop all in one. Very cool spot.

They had great prices and even better drinks. Go here.

My wife and I love this place. We bring out of town guests here for the relaxed atmosphere. The food is easy going but done right. We ask for lightly toasted on toasted sandwiches as occasionally they get carried away with the toasting. Watch out for the birds they are waiting for you to turn your head and they are brave. Overall a wonderful place to eat and enjoy downtown Durham.

P&O in one word is delightful! The sandwiches are fresh and filling. The service team is always helpful and friendly. And the outdoor patio and indoor gift shop are the perfect spot for a lunch break. 12/10 recommend!

New Location in America Tobacco. They did a great job in making this place their own. Sandwich shop coming soon. Lots of unique books and gift items. Time to buy some stuff. And don't forget the wine. They have a decent wine section also.

I visited on a Friday afternoon for lunch. This place is super cute. We were easily able to park in their parking lot located directly in front of the restaurant. I ordered the green goddess tuna sandwich at one kiosk and by the time I ordered my soy chai at another station my sandwich was finished. Easy to find seating outside under the covered porch. The aesthetic is super cool, it’s a renovated warehouse area so it’s filled with old rustic charm. Inside there are so many cute things to look at, from stationary and cards to cool books and children’s toys. I would recommend visiting. The food was good, the service was friendly and quick.

I was around the corner on a freelance job, and I needed a pick me up as I hadn't had any coffee that day. I went in got my coffee very quick and It was very good. I don't live in Durham, but I'll have to come back soon and see what else they have.

If you enjoy sandwiches, Parker & Otis is for you.

Parker & Otis is a bit hard to find if you don't park in the nearest parking garage, but it's well-located. And if you want to sit outside, they are connected to a covered area with a number of picnic tables.

I enjoyed the tacos, but they were small! So keep that in mind as you order!

This is my favorite place ever, so cute and literally has my favorite sandwich’s . I recommend this place to everyone ,I love it and love the people.

Cleanliness 5/5. Bathroom was kept spotless which was awesome in the 2 hours we spent there. Unisex bathrooms btw with their political stance posted on the insides of the doors. It was like others have said in the reviews, a very hipster-ish environment but not in a lazy way. Staff were actively cleaning, constantly. It was nice!

Service 5/5. The guys and gals did a great job and took specific care making sure we got exactly what we ordered. My wife got the smoked salmon and capers with cream cheese bagel. It was incredible as was my BLT which by the way, they packed on the eggs I ordered as well.

Price 5/5. I'm a frugal guy, but the quality and freshness of the food are well worth the price. With two coffees, our FILLING breakfast was just under $20.

Quality 5/5. I've only been once, on a Saturday morning but the packed atmosphere was still calm enough to maintain a peaceful environment. Food isn't too expensive and is fairly priced. Cleanliness was constant and the staff displayed great attitudes. My wife and I will be moving to Durham soon and I look forward to eating here more often.

My wife and I stopped here after a vet visit with our new puppy. We ate out on the deck , the food was very good and it was a good socialization experience for our pup.

Very trendy sandwich shop/bookstore/gift shop/and more. Sandwiches are really good, prices are very reasonable. They were pretty busy when we got there, so it is a pretty popular place. They also selling other things - wine, specialty condiments, books, games, gifts, etc. Good place to get a sandwich and shop while you wait.

The whole shop is gorgeous, great for little gifts. And their deli is delicious. The pimento cheese sandwich is definitely worth the trip out!

This has been a mainstay of mine since it was called Fowler's in the 90's, so I was surprised by the location change to the American Tobacco campus! That said, they're doing a great job of settling into the space -- it still feels like Parker & Otis, which means chic gifts, friendly staff, and tasty food. A must-stop for local gift shopping.

Delightfully curated selection of edibles and durables here, and great people working hard to make everyone feel welcome and happy. We also loved the conversion of the space from early 1900s industrial to "urban now". Very "rusty chic". Whether for lunch or a gift, I highly recommend a visit, and do take the time to breathe and browse.

Sandwiches are fresh, bread is toothy, and I was full after one sandwich (it is large).
