This was an awesome experience. Our instructor was patient and knowledgeable, and great with the kids. This was our first time surfing and we felt comfortable and at ease the entire time. The prices were affordable, the staff was kind, we had the time of our lives. We definitely recommend Surf Shack in Kihei.

Stopped here to grab a kayak. Nice spot, fairly quick to get what you need and good prices for rentals. Went out no problem, the kayak was in great order and since you are right next to the beach, makes it easy to just head out.

Had a great time with beginner lessons at Surf Shack. Mike was a great instructor and we loved riding the waves! Highly recommend!

My 10 yr old and myself had an amazing time learning to surf. Thanks to Segundo, our super friendly coach, we were surfing in no time. It was one of the best parts of our trip to Maui. I recommend getting the photo package, their photographer captures all the action!

Two adults and two children 10 and 12. Awesome time. All surfed upright on first attempt. 5 in our group so it felt very private. Waves were mild and easy to ride. Highly recommended. No pressure. Just a whole lot of fun for a beginners class. Caught maybe 15 waves a piece. And the photo package is very reasonable with multiple great action photos of each of our group.

Omg this was a incredible exsperince for me! I will remember this for the rest of my life. This was my 1st ever experience of surfing. My teacher was Lucas he was a wonderful man and teacher
Hes very patient,kind and walks you through all the steps. Hes very knowledgeable of a good wave and teaches you how to detect a good wave and a not so good wave. He educates you of safety and how to handle your board. I did the 2 hour private lesson and i would highly recommend Lucas he does a one on one private lesson with you. I was up on my board handeling the waves right away. We even went to 4 foot waves when i was ready. This will be a experience you cherish for all the years to come. ALSO ask them about the private photographer in the water that gets amazing photo shots of you while out there. Their price is very affordable we got like 80 photos for $60.00 and high quality for large blow up pics! You wont be disappointed at the SURF SHACK and make sure you ask for LUCAS -DEZI PEZI 🌈🌈🌈🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊

We rented the kayak from Surf Shack for 2.5 hours and had a great experience. The waters in Kihei are beautiful with perfect location to kayak. They were very responsive and guided us through when it was safe to kayak as initially the day was windy with advisory to not go out in the ocean. The next day was bright and sunny with less winds and we were able to go kayak for 2.5 hours and had a lot of fun. They are very courteous, professional and helpful and probably one of the cheapest and easiest kayak rental available on the island! Highly recommend!!

An amazing morning out with Mike and the team from Surf Shack! Mike did a wonderful job with our 7 year old and 5 year old teaching them how to ride their first waves, and ensuring they first and foremost, had FUN!!

Segundo’s name may mean second, but he was #1 to us. He gave great instruction and our family of 4 all got up surfing in just one or two attempts. We were lucky enough to get him all to ourselves! Our family was smiling the entire 2 hours. Because we caught on quickly, the photographer captured a ton of photos of us. They charge $25 per person in the party and then give you all of the photos taken. Choose Surf Shack for your surfing lessons. You won’t be disappointed. And if you book online, there’s a discount.

We are so glad we booked with the surf shack! James was a great instructor, he managed to make surfing fun & easy to do. We weren't sure if we would even be able to stay on the board, but ended up being decent at it.
James's dog loves to surf & actually rode on my surfboard with me! That made the experience even more perfect.
When we come back, we will definetly come to the surf shack!

Our B&B host recommended this shop for renting a paddle board. Nice staff, good prices and the location is great for beginners. They don‘t take time limit exactly so if forget about time, don’t worry. (Guess if there are still boards available). Two thumbs up for this shop!

Friendly customer service! The folks at Surf Shack Maui were informative, patient, and safe! I highly recommend you book them as they kept the groups small and stayed with the learners. The instructors were patient and upbeat. The location was perfect for us to view our kids and also allowed us to get a snack and coffee, and some last minute items at the friendly convenient store around the corner from them. Highly recommend!

Take your lesson with Mike. He was super chill and an amazing instructor. You will be surfing within 5 minutes of getting in the water. The whole experience from check in to clean up was very easy. Kudos to everyone at the Surf Shack for making our day special. My two 16 year old boys said this was the highlight of the whole trip. An absolute must when on Maui.

When I signed my daughter up for her first surf lesson I had no idea what to expect so we went in pretty blind to the experience and two hours later left with an amazing experience and memory we will treasure forever. Everyone at the shop was very kind. They bring their dogs out to surf with you and you’ll get a chance to surf with the dogs and get photos taken in the water. Well worth buying the photos! The water wasn’t too deep so I felt safe with my daughter out there and the instructors were great! Mike was patient and encouraging and had her up and surfing the very first time she tried! She left her lesson with a life long love of surfing and memories she will always treasure. I can’t say enough about this experience. Great for kids and adults and surfing with turtles and dogs? You can’t beat that!

My kids loved it! They had Matt as a instructor and couldn’t have been a better experience. They loved it so much that they want to surf every day we’re here!! Thanks so much for opening a sport that I never thought they would enjoy!! Very professional and the pics they get of them in the water was the icing on the cake!!

We had a great time this morning for our first ever surf lesson! The waves were the perfect size, spent little time on land and tons of time in the water with great instruction! Each member of our party (4 in total) all were up within the first two waves! We also had the pleasure of surfing with Church the surfer dog! We loved our time with Surf Shack Maui and would definitely recommend it and the instructors to anyone visiting the island!!

I took the 2-hour beginner surf lessons with James and his awesome surfing dog Church. James was very relaxed and friendly and had us in the water in no time. His instructions were clear and I was able to stand immediately on the first wave. For the second, he put Church on the board and I was able to surf with him. So cool! Throughout the lesson, James provided pointers to allow me to improve. I had a great time and would highly recommend lessons with James (and Church). Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Took a group lesson with Max yesterday and had an absolute blast! Surf shack is the cheapest option in the area right now, but because the group was bigger I was a little nervous we wouldn’t get the one-on-one attention needed to learn. But Max kept his eyes on everyone and gave specific corrections to make sure we kept getting better. Everyone was all smiles by the end of the lesson and had awesome photos to show for it.
