Restaurant Matsu

Great food especially for the price! Food was out super quick and everyone was super nice! Family owned which is also awesome. I'd suggest the ramen! The sushi was also good!

Great local spot I recommend for Kama aina and also tourists. We need to keep places like this alive the food and fish is fantastic. Great vibes

Don't let outside appearances fool you ... Maybe sketchy looking on the outside, but delish on the inside. Great sushi, sashimi, soup and bento lunch boxes. Take a chance, order once and you'll be back for more. Busy at lunchtime, so be prepared for a little wait.

It's a nice, family restaurant with good, savory food. The wood interior and seating is cozy, and you can easily take food to go with you if you want, the wait isn't long at all. It's very delicious too. We have came here a few times, and never too busy either.

Stopped by shortly before our flight to pick up a bento and it didn't disappoint. For $30, you get a huge box (easily feeds 2) which contains an assortment of fried and raw delectables. The stars were 2 peppermint hello kitty macaroons and the frosting piping work was immaculate. Almost felt bad eating them!

Such great food! So filling and so good and it was so exciting not knowing what their bento box special was going to be. We just knew it was gonna be good and of course we were right

The taste of their Japanese foods is very traditional. It reminds me of the foods I used to eat in Japan many years ago. My recommendation is shoyu ramen and katsudon. Do not expect modern kotteri taste ramen, however, their shoyu ramen is really good.

We foolishly came at the weekday lunch rush but it was still worthwhile. The daily special bento was a great bargain. More a place for locals, and a few smart people who seek out such places.

Best hidden gem in Kahului! Alitlle small with limited seating. All the udons and ramen are super good and worth trying. Their fried chicken plate is another favorite. Definitely recommend here

Some of the best ramen I’ve ever had. The brother was unbelievable. We stopped here on a whim before heading to the airport, but it may have been one of my favorite meals of the trip!! Yummy town.

Some of the best food on Maui hands down. Best shrimp tempura I’ve ever had. Always consistent and amazing quality.

The restaurant looks like a small fish market, but I enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and the service was quick. Also, the food was delicious! I definitely recommend it.

best ramen I've tasted within the U.S. incredible, deep and complex flavors. kitsune upon is also on point! great, fast efficient service. loved that it is most locals and incredible prices. highly recommend!

Flew to Maui. Six hour flight. First place I came was Matsu. It’s hard to describe just how perfect this restaurant is. Absolutely without a single ounce of pretension. Putting out some of the best tempura and karaage around. Bento with tempura and simple sushi rolls was an absolute stunner. You’d be hard pressed to find better food anywhere in the world for $20.

Friendly, efficient service. Delicious food. Simple but enjoyable seating. Clean bathroom. Free chilled water. Fair, typical pricing for plate lunches in this day and age of hyper-inflation

Stopped in to order takeout food while we were on our family vacation during spring break. Matsu serves really great food that truly represents all of Hawaii. The food was well packaged, reasonably priced, and tasty as heck! It was prepared fresh, not pre packaged, and is certainly a spot we will hit up every time we are back in Maui.

Great local Japanese food on Maui... this is where the locals go. The owners are so sweet and accommodating! They have a few vegetarian options... If you let the owners know you're vegetarian - they can help you decide on an entree.

Their hours are a bit unconventional... if you take a cell camera shot of their hours... You'll have it with you for reference.

Even though the decor & ambiance isn't the finest... It's not meant to be... It's simple, maintained, and functional.

Great place for comfort food! A must try!
