Unfussy homely cooking. Sashimi was the highlight and I enjoyed the fish and steak. The tempura was good at first, but as the batter is a little thick, got heavy towards the end. Good value for money

Anything tempura is amazing here unique and one of a kind. Sashimi was also delicious. I didn't care much for the pork teriyaki but 5 stars because that's how amazing the tempura was!!!

Authentic Japanese feel. Don't be scared to actually eat the miso by bringing the bowl to your mouth, and use the bowl provided on top for your rice. The guests are friendly and so is the staff.

Tokyo Tei has been and always is a good place to eat. Food is ample n delicious, service is friendly and fast.
Its clean and cozy. It's a favorite for over 40 years !

Tokyo Tei has some good Japanese food, good atmosphere and for a good price. Would recommend. I always had a nice friendly experience here.

LOVE this restaurant. Grew up on Maui eating here. Moved away recently but been back time and time again and it's always delicious.
Ate some of the sahimi in the picture, got excited, forgot to take a photo before I dug in.

Easy going restaurant that has a nice atmosphere. My daughter and I enjoyed it, will definitely come back just for the miso!

My favorite restaurant for tempura and steak combo for $22!! You can’t beat the price and the quaint atmosphere. Dependable flavors since I’ve been stopping by for ten years. Hidden gem in Lower Main Street Wailuku, Maui.

Tempura is incredible- light and crunchy, most importantly not greasy either. Not sure what they cook it in but very tasty. The bento box lunch things are large and filling, I’ll definitely come back!

Amazing comfy Japanese food! I definitely enjoyed this as my last meal for the year and got the teishoku E! Fried fish shrimp tempura and sashimi! A little bit of everything and exactly what I was craving on a light rainy day! Imagine spirited away vibes with the rain the food and the feel! An amazing dinner meal! Definitely give it a try if your looking for authentic Japanese eats!

Best Japanese food around great hidden gem.

Always love a great bento. The tempura of course, short ribs and sashimi, miso soup. Quick service, pleasant. Couldn't pass up the chance to eat here again, I've been a patron since the 80s.

This is one of our family's favorite restaurants. The teriyaki steak, salmon, tempura, and teishoku trays are our favorites. Love the miso soup, hot tea, and koko that come with the meals. Service is always excellent.

Always had great service. The service from the waitresses very friendly & prompt, there's a Filipino lady that is very friendly (I think her name is Rose)? She remember's my family & I . There's several team players also great cooks and everyone in the kitchen (back of the house) that puts everything together & the cashiers that greets and end's with the night by asking, how was everything?

We love that you have the option to order individually or family style. Just a heads up though, when ordering the Teriyaki Steak always order it under cooked.. For example, I usually prefer my steak medium, so I always order my steak medium rare. I ordered it medium once and by the time I ate it, the steaks temperature became closer to medium well/well done. Because the steak cooks more as it sits, it became very hard and tough.

My favorite entree is Teishoku B, it includes Teriyaki Steak, Shrimp and Veggie Tempura, Ahi Sashimi, 1 scoop of white rice, miso soup, and pickled cabbage.

Amazing food. Always love eating here. Traditional food and very delicious. Hospitality is always very sweet and caring. This is one of my family's favorite places to eat.
