EV Connect Charging Station

Likely the best public charger you'll find on the island. These are fast, DC chargers that will supposedly hit 150kW per unit, 4 units total. I can't verify this as my rental only went up to 57kW based on it's own limits, but I saw a Ford F-150 Lightning that appeared to be hitting the upper limit. Each unit has two plugs; once one of them is occupied, the other cannot be used. It was easy to find a spot every time, although I imagine that could easily fluctuate with the tourism season and EV adoption. As of this writing, the rate was $0.44/kWh, basically on par with fast chargers in California.

This charger stop appears to be pretty new, so for now the chargers seem to be reliable and connected properly on 3 separate occasions. No special app is required, you can just use your phone wallet app (Apple Wallet, etc.) or tap card.

Hopefully they're maintained long term. I've seen these exact units (Tritium) be very unreliable in other places, but maybe that's just EV stations in general.

Thankful for working EV chargers at an important transportation point in Central. According to the DOT website you can get a 40 to 100 miles off of ten minute charge. At the moment it's .44/ kwh from 9 am to 5 pm and then .57/kwh from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Charges fast and only supercharger available on this maui island. Glad I found atleast 1.

This charging station includes both the "fast" and "slow" chargers, but even the fast ones take more than 90 minutes to fully charge a battery (Kia Niro), which started at 20% charge.

The station is located right next to the highway, which would be great if the charge were as quick as filling a tank of gas at a gas station. But because it takes more than 90 minutes to charge an EV battery, I wish the station were located near retail, or a park, or someplace with a bit of shade from the hot sun.

Also, when I charged my car (Monday near 4 pm), all other stations were being used so there may be a need for more charging stations.

Overall, I'm grateful for the EV Station (most others on the island would require overnight charging to fully charge a battery), but I wish it were located in a more pleasant area - someplace you'd want to spend a couple hours.

Easy to access and use fast chargers - centrally located, so probably the best spot to charge whilst heading across the island. The main downside is there is nowhere to walk to nearby whilst charging so you need to wait in the car.

Good location for heading back to the airport but as a FYI our model 3 rental from Avis did not have the correct adapter to make these chargers work. Just a heads up if you’re in a similar situation trying to avoid the “low battery” fee for a rental!
