Vecchitto's Italian Ice

Excellent product for a very cheap price. I saw owner giving gelato to homeless man who could not pay. It was very kind of him. The place is somewhat run down but good and people are great. Highly recommend!

Vecchitto's Italian Ice is a wonderful old country traditional ice and gelato shop. The ices are always perfectly flavored, not overly sweet and the gelato is soooo creamy and smooth. My personal favorite is the Affogato which is gelato "drowned" in hot Expresso. If you've never tried this delicious concoction you are missing out big time. I do have to caution you, once you try an Affogato you'll return as often as possible! Enjoy!

Margaret and Cal were my pals from sound view. I would keave her rocks all winter lined up on her window. Such fond memories. I stop for an ice everytime I'm in Middletown. Still delicious. Rootbeer and watermelon are the best !!!

OMG!!! Honestly, I'm from Florida and my husband has been going here since he was a child. Hands down best dessert ever!!! We come up for vacation often and I have my hubby bring me here as much as we can while we are there. Affogato is my absolute favorite!!! Love love love this place!!!

I never would have found this place if I didn't put it into maps. So worth it. I got the affogato with cappuccino and Italian chocolate gelato and my kid got the pineapple coconut Italian ice. Both were amazing and very reasonably priced. Parking was ok but there is nowhere to sit. The service was excellent and the gelato and Italian ice were amazing, definitely going back

I've been going to Vecchitto's since I was a baby, which is pretty much the deal if you're from this area. The italian ice here is second to none, and I say that as someone who has tried literally every version of it I've seen, because I love the stuff.

I don't know how they do it, but the texture, the flavor, the temperature, all of it is perfect. The place hasn't changed one inch, ever, and that goes for the recipes - which in this case, is a really good thing.

Try the lemon or the watermelon, at least once.

Vecchitto's has been around longer than I have, even longer than my father has for a reason. Their Italian ice is amazing. They have the best flavors and rotate the flavors often. My wife's family has have been going there for as long as she can remember, it's a tradition every summer. The watermelon is our family favorite for good reason. If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking them out. Not sure what to get? They will let you sample the flavors.

I love this place! I've been here since 2000 when they came to my school for senior year celebration! Coming here after any picnic, beach day or just a family stroll is our tradition. The flavors are great (root bear, lemon lime, lemon, strawberry, grape and blue raspberry) are among some of the flavors you get to chose from. You get to try a free sample of the ones you're not familiar with and not only that the staff is very friendly. I recommend this place to anyone who will listen. 😀

Such a small and wonderfull mom and pop shop. It's worth the half hour drive. They are always friendly and have a wonderful smile when you wall in. The flavors are always great to try and with the changing flavors you could never get board of them. The ice itself is so smooth. I do with they had just a little larger of an area so there is more setting options. Or open more (in Enfield maybe)

Middletown's treasure. All other Italian ice will be ruined for you after you eat here. Vecchitto's texture is unlike anything you've had before -- smooth and creamy, even though there's no dairy in it. Super affordable ($2.25 for a 2 scoop cup at the time of this review.) Take a bunch of friends, all get different flavors, and pass them around. Be adventurous with your flavor choices, too -- there are no weak ones! Parking can be a little hairy when it's packed. Minimal seating. 3 steep-ish steps at the door might be difficult for those with mobility impairments. No bathroom. Cool historical photos on the wall. Family owned and run. Been a town fixture since woolly mammoths were around.

I usually don’t give out 5 stars ⭐ but this place deserves every star! Italian ice is to die for!!! I love it! They also have a bunch of different flavors to choose from. My favorite is the classic lemon 🍋

This unassuming little shop just off the highway has been serving up genuine Italian ice for 90 years! Far and away the best ice cream to be had in the region, this simple store with an old tiled floor and counter, ancient freezers lining the walls, has been a must-visit spot for our family for years whenever we’re passing through Middletown. Don’t miss the chance to step back in time a little and savor a cup (or cone) of The Real Thing.

Used to live in Connecticut as a kid and Ive gotta say this is the one place that I will never forget. I make a trip here every time I drive down to Connecticut. The Italian Ice is like no other. Best place to visit to cool down for a refreshing treat. Thanks to the workers for being so friendly and keeping the place in great shape.

Classic! Dark chocolate gelato and lemon ice. So good.

This delicious is not exciting, but you can not stop until you finish.
