Rescued Boone (Bronco). Staff was very friendly and amazing at helping us through the adoption process. We're very happy with Boone and have been giving him plenty of treats, toys, play time, and enforced naps.

We brought Maverick in to get neutered and he got scared when I tried to get him inside. He ran away as he broke loose from his carrier and Dylan set up a cage with food in it to trap him. After 4 days we got the wonderful phone call that he was at the shelter. I had been so upset and worried the whole week. Mav is home and we are forever grateful to the entire MCAS staff for checking to see if he had returned. Thank you so much for returning our little boy… he was feral and it took 1.5 years to establish trust with him. We were out there every day looking for him but they returned him to us. Thank you to the dedicated staff for being so kind.

I traveled 2hrs out to pick up my sweet kitty from this shelter, and have absolutely no regrets about it! They were very kind and worked with me so that I could come in even though my work schedule didn't line up with their hours, and so many things were included in with the adoption that helped me get my (then KitKat, now) Pocky all set up and acclimated! When I got there he was a little sick, but they had already had him all checked out and gave me medicine for him 😊

Now he's a healthy, happy, and spoiled kitty ☺🥰

The truly love and cherish their animals here. They provide a bag of food to help you Integrate the animal to what you want to feed them. Then they give you a leash and collar as well. I would whole heartedly support this facility!

I was blessed enough to adopt my wonderful puppy from Mitchell County Animal Rescue. Before leaving with my puppy they provided me with food, pee pads, dog collar, blankets and more. The adoption fee was extremely reasonable considering it included spaying, microchip and vaccinations. My wife and I could not be happier to have adopted such a wonderful pup from such a great organization.

They help so many animals. They make homes happier by helping people find the perfect pet for them. They use Facebook and social media to help more people see their adoptable animals to be sure they get adopted by loving homes.
We adopted our newest furbaby, Mo, from them. Mitchell County Animal Rescue saves lives and helps the community so much. With spay and neuter assistance for those in need. Rabies clinics and cheaper shots available to keep your animals up to date and safe.

These wonderful people truly care about animals, and about finding them good "forever homes." We drove 3 hours each way to see them and could not be happier. They knew what sort of dog we were looking for, and found the perfect match! MCAR is truly amazing, and they will have my affection and respect for all my life.

Great place, folks were keeping busy not sitting around, just doing their jobs. We adopted three new kittens who are as sweet as can be!
Also, @Bill Horniak, you left a review a couple of years ago. We just went to the Mitchell County Animal Rescue and found thee wonderful cats to adopt. Did you plan on adopting more than one animal? Did you ever consider the fact that the people working there on the phone WERE helping people over the phone? Your review was very self centered. It's a small shelter because it's a smaller place than say a shelter you'd find in Asheville or Charlotte or anywhere else. It's their fault you didnt get what you wanted? THINK before leaving reviews. Consider life from other's point of view before you whine and complain. Your review is very sad and unfortunate.

I brought two cats to get rabies shots and the staff was very courteous and helpful. I didn't even have to go inside. They came out, took one cat in, gave the shot, brought it back out and then repeated the process. I really appreciate the animal shelter and all that they do for the community.

The ladies here were extremely helpful! Lil Petey came home with us and we couldn't be happier! Having worked at an animal rescue before, I can say that our interaction with staff was top notch. They definitely have the best interest of the animals in mind!

It takes a massive heart to work in the rescue industry and the staff here has proven time and time again that their hearts never close to the needs of animals. They deeply LOVE and PROTECT the staggering number of neglected animals in our community.

MCAR is a pillar in our community!

Did you know?
-If you find an injured or dying animal after hours, you can call 911 and they will have a staff member meet you at MCAR. If the animal can be saved they will take them to the nearest emergency vet and pay for all their needs! If they cannot be saved they will compassionately assist with their transition.
-If an animal of your own needs emergency medical care and you cannot afford it, they will assist with veterinary bills and/or euthanasia. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to leave your animal in crisis due to the fear of cost.
-If you know of an animal being neglected, they can facilitate an investigation to check on that animal.

MCAR does so much more than rescue animals and find their loving fur-ever homes. They are the protectors and providers for our animal community, all while maintaining the LOVE and COMPASSION in their hearts.

As a community we are lucky to have MCAR to turn to in our time of need.

Thank you MCAR for the profound support you provide for our community. I am GRATEFUL for all of you and I hold a special LOVE in my heart for your team of WARRIORS.

And a Special Gratitude to Aimee for all the times you offered us your guiding, deeply empathetic, hand when we were lost.

*If you have the means, please donate to them! It goes to support all those in need!
