The Provincial

I know whenever my partner chooses a restaurant, we are going to try something new and it is usually a good experience. For starters we waited for a seat outside which as a gamble because of smokers, loud motor vehicles and bugs, but this late afternoon was perfect because all conditions were just right and the humidity was low. We started our meal with hot spinach roasted garlic and flour cheese dip, and the dry rub wings. I opted for the burger. There was also a sweet potato French fry oil coated dish, it was unique but pretty good.

The good: the location, quaintness, good menus of varied items, service and vibeness, yes vibeness and a very walkable area.

The other: my partner opted for the dry-rub wings, again, a risk, she normally goes for a sweet teriyaki. The wings were beautiful, large, well prepared but the dry coating contained too much spice. I ate one wing and my lips and mouth began tingle and the flavor maybe cardamom, or cumin maybe both just overtook both my senses and my partners. We waived a flag after that. That was disappointing because they presented so well on the plate. This was an outlier, everything else was delicious. Even our service was stellar. We shall return and eventually try the other style of wings, and walk up the street and get ice cream. Overall a good experience and a place to add to your list.

We are only in the area for a week. The restaurant was recommended to us by locals. That was the best recommendation! We ate here twice in one week with our young daughter. We received a very warm and friendly welcome. The food was simply first class, super tasty! The dessert was also very tasty. We can only recommend it to everyone and highly recommend eating here.

I ate at The Provincial on a Thursday evening with friends. We enjoyed craft cocktails & wine. The food was delicious and well-presented. We ate calamari, pork chop, red drum, steak, and tuna tacos. Our server was attentive and clearly addressed the menu options for those that had dietary restrIctions. The restaurant filled up between 6:15-6:45. There is bar seating and limited outdoor tables. I would go there again. The menu changes daily, so keep that in mind so you don’t expect the same items every visit.

Nothing bad to say about The Provincial. It is quite loud but that's easily overlooked when you consider the delicious food and wonderful service. Great place for a date but too loud for a first date haha. We will definitely be returning.

This is my second time dining at The Provincial, both times with a large group of friends and both times very impressed. The menu is always changing from day to day so best to check online if you’re looking for a specific dish. Our group had a great server she was attentive without being intrusive.

I really liked the array of appetizers all made fresh and tasty. The drinks were well balanced and delicious. My main dish was the hanger steak with whipped potatoes and roasted carrots. All cooked to perfection and seasoned expertly.

I can’t wait for my third visit.

Great food for a good Date Nite Tuesday vibe. We sat outside and enjoyed the downtown vibe. Food was delicious. We had half shell oysters, salmon, veggie plate.

I wish we had discovered this gem earlier! We dined outside. They have about 8 outdoor tables, maybe more. Everything was delicious, but we found the lamb chops and the carrot cake to be particular standouts. They made their own caramel for the carrot cake garnish--the waitress told me they even make their own ice cream. Menu changes daily, so you have to check Facebook or Instagram for up-to-date selections. Service was friendly. We were able to dine without reservations, but I would call to make sure there is a table before going. There is a public parking lot behind the plaza where the restaurant is located, bit it was full by 7pm on a Wednesday when we left the restaurant. We look forward to returning!

Had a wonderful meal of appetizers and desserts while sitting outside on a beautiful afternoon. Food was outstanding as was the service. We will definitely be coming back!

We simply love this place. The menu changes regularly but the quality of food remains high. The staff is super friendly and their cocktails and desserts are amazing. It's also very family friendly.

Always a wonderful meal in the charming neighborhood of Downtown Apex. While the menu has a simple, limited selection and doesn't change much, it is always wonderfully executed using top notch locally sourced ingredients! Perfect for a date night.

Farm to fork healthy restaurant, great atmosphere conducive to quiet conversations (no loud music thankfully) and great ambience. local fish, salads, chicken. Sushi grade tuna tacos fresh and beautifully presented. blackened catfish was spicy and good with local greens salad.

The food is always amazing. During this last visit, we felt rushed. They also have very close seating for their two tops, so that's a little awkward from time to time. Lastly, our ticket didn't get split accurately.

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN APEX,NC. Also, my favorite restaurant ever! Amazing cuisine, friendly service and delicious cocktails! Chef Wayne, Kristyna and Jarrett are simply the best, they really make you feel like family. 🙂

We truly enjoyed our dinner here. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the wine recommendations worked well. My salmon was excellent and the Brussell's Sprouts were there best I've had. The rum cake desert was lovely. I probably should have passed on the Pomegranate Martini which was just ok and focused on the wine. Nice atmosphere, easy to have a conversation. A wonderful evening out.

I’d like to start off by saying that i don't usually write reviews, but i felt i had to write one for this restaurant, it was originally recommended to me by a friend. The food, the desserts and the service is outstanding, the staff is very polite and the restaurant is a hidden gem in apex. For those that haven't had the time to check this place out i strongly recommend you do so, and try out the hanger steak when they have it on their menu along with the carrot cake and espresso martini.

Small, quaint farm to table restaurant.
The server was very pleasant and attentive without being burdensome.
Must say everything was prepared very well and tasty.
The carrot cake was absolutely perfect.
Recommend reservations if getting there much past opening.

Had hanger steak and carrots, which were excellent! Cocktails were also pretty good. It's definitely a high-quality dining experience, and I have no problem recommending.

Fifteen visits = five stars as it was 4:35 pm when I arrived.
Huge piece of fresh swordfish was prepared perfect. The salad greens were amazingly fresh and wonderful. If there are fried oysters, order them. Service is Convivial with alacrity.
The salmon and the greens again were outstanding. If they have " Carrot Cake " get it.
I'll be back asap.

Food is awesome. Wine selection is great. Adult beverages are great. Staff is great.
It's always crowded and noisy .

This place is a treasure! Met with a large group (around 12) and they had no problem accommodating us upstairs. This restaurant is in an old building & the charm is lovely.
Our waiter was fun, friendly & got things right. I only gave 4 stars as I think he was overworked & drinks & refills were slow. I'm sure this is due to staffing difficulties.
I had their locally farm-raised hamburger & it was perfect. Others had the pork chop, salmon, steak & everyone said it was delicious.
I highly recommend this restaurant & would go back in a minute.
