Amazing Mexican food!! I've been to this place 7 times, getting the steak burrito 6 of those times since its so good. The chips and salsa is exceptional. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Guacamole, it's very similar to the guacamole you would find at supermarkets. I would definitely recommend getting different things on the menu each time you go. Today I tried the steak Areapas which were fantastic. It had rice and beans, a small salad, cornmeal cake topped with streak with a special sauce on top and Pico de Gallo to put on the salad. The cornmeal cake tasted homemade and also it had this small sweetness to it which added to the flavor.

First time I went here I ordered a beef burrito. It was very large- but loaded with more beans and rice. I got bloated and uncomfortable.
This time I went I asked for less beans and more beef - and that I need more protein (I’m pregnant, so baby will thank me). They did exactly that - actually no beans. And it was perfect. The gentleman who had made the burrito had what I believe to be an authentic Spanish accent- the gentlemen on my first experience did not.

I’m glad I gave this place a second chance ! On the pricier side, but so is everything now a days ..

Real taco joint. This is VERY hard to find in this area. I had chorizo tacos; authentic street taco style. It met ALL requirements for a proper taco. Kudos to these guys. They're doing it right.

Serving delicious authentic tacos and Mexican cuisine, Taqueria 5 was a pleasant surprise! Moving back to CT from Austin, TX, we’ve been in the search to find a quality Mexican spot to satisfy those craving when we don’t feel like cooking them ourselves. The quality of food, price point, and service are home run. We will absolutely be back!

I’ve been here a few times now and everything has been consistently wonderful. The people who work here are friendly and always get the order right. Great food and sauces. Definitely my favorite Mexican spot since moving out to the shoreline. Thank you for the delicious food!

It's repeatedly our go to spot for Mexican food around the area. The owner is friendly, the food delicious and inexpensive, and the wait times insanely quick for takeout. It's mostly a takeout spot, but there are a few seats and tables inside that we've used. No complaints there either!

It's difficult to find authentic Hispanic food this far north (without going to Wallingford), but Taqueria Cinco nails it. The food here is great every time. I highly recommend the menudo. This time of year, menudo is the perfect solution to keep yourself warm. If that doesn't sound good, then the pozole is equally fantastic.

Personally, my favorite meat here is the Carne Enchilada! Get that in a quesadilla, and you're in for a delicious meal. The selection of jarritos is excellent as well. Tamarind is easily my favorite, along with the mandarin.

Horchata. The usual drink of choice with Hispanic food. Most places use a simple mix packet; however, they make their horchata from scratch. It's absolutely worth trying!

Let's not forget desserts! The flan is sublime, and the tres leches cake is to die for; creamy and soft with so much flavor!

All in all, this is an easy 8.5/10. I'll definitely be returning regularly.

Absolutely delicious and authentic food. We had the street tacos (carnitas and chicken), both were very tasty/fresh. Street corn was great too. Very reasonable prices! If we lived local we would be here weekly.

Absolutely delicious and authentic! Their house made salsa is shockingly flavorful as well. It's family owned/operated and they were extremely friendly and engaging, making my wife and I feel welcome and appreciated. Other restaurants could take a lesson from these folks. We look forward to our next visit (which will be soon)!

I crave the Nachos Nopales like weekly (cactus nachos). SO GOOD. My husband loves like everything they make and he often stops in after work and brings me their takeout and the serving size is HUGE. Friendly and fast service! No complaints.

The food was amazing and staff was incredibly nice and respectful. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the shoreline that can actually be defined as authentic Mexican food. There are also a variety of options for food and drinks. The staff treated me with such kindness and respect. Im very indecisive for placing an order yet they were so patient and continued to hold a smile and gave me suggestions for what I should get. They were giving genuine and excellent service. If you want amazing tasting food and to feel welcomed definitely try this place out.

You don't expect this place to be good, because it's just a small place on the side of the road, but it's great!

We tried this restaurant for takeout on a whim and it was really great. The employees were super friendly and quick. I had the steak arepas which came with rice and beans and my boyfriend had steak tacos. Everything was delicious and the portions were nicely sized. The tres leches cake was also very yummy. Definitely worth a try!

The food is delicious and the people working are very friendly. I'm so glad there is a new Mexican restaurant in Westbrook! I highly recommend Taqueria 5 and will be going there often.

On a side note, I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers are talking about. My experience met or exceeded any expectation I might have about a new restaurant.

It appears that the low reviews you’ll see below have some association from friends/affiliates of the previous Mexican restaurant that stood in its place and should be discredited. Staff was very friendly. The store is very clean. The food is delicious. My order was ready promptly. We will be ordering again! Welcome to the community.

Always happy to see minority communities thriving. Glad to have Latinos share their recipes and culture with us. Amazing staff & food. Made the drive from New Haven & can’t wait to bring others around here as well! Best of luck in this endeavor

Food has been great every time, the torta is massive and perfect, the pozole tastes homemade and the burritos are the best around. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. No room for eat in so pretty much to go only.

Excellent food! The pricing is fair and service is great! It’s not fast food, they actually make your food as you wait. All the negative reviews from people with a vendetta against the new owners should just be ignored. Trust the people that actually go there and buy the food.

Fully updated interior and new menu items. Everything was fresh, well portioned and delicious. They have seating for parties of 2 and 3 now which is awesome, and outdoor for larger groups.

Great food. Consistently great food. Friendly staff. Needed a good burrito/ taco joint in this area. Glad they are here.
