Sergio’s Mexican Restaurant

Mama's Special is my favorite dish here, but everything is good. Reasonably priced with large portions. I usually get two meals out of it!

I am from Carbondale but have lived 30+ years in Los Angeles, where authentic Mexican food is everywhere.

I think Sergio’s is great. Good food, nice people, good value. Full portions are quite big, which means either I can either eat a whole day’s worth of calories in one meal, or bring home great leftovers.

I ordered the Mama’s Special. It was excellent, though quite cheesy… some people might want to ask for them to go a little lighter on the cheese, but not me… I like it the way they make it and like the old saying goes, “if it ain’t broken, don’t try to fix it.”

We dined in their outdoor patio area because we had our dogs with us, which they did not object to… at least not today when we were the only ones here.

They also seemed to appreciate my attempts to converse in my semi-fluent Spanish.

I have never had a bad experience here. It’s a great place to go with friends and family for lunch or dinner. Staff is always friendly and helpful, food is always delicious, and the vibes are always great.

Service was fast and fantastic.. The food was genuinely some of the best food I have had in a long time. The inside is themed and decorated very well.

Sergio's was fantastic, we were seated in a beautiful booth, the atmosphere was great and so was the food.
I myself never take food pictures, but the evening we went I did and it was delicious. Waitress, host, everyone there made our dining experience wonderful. Authentic Mexican food at a fair price.

I have tried this restaurant several times recently( since my bad experiences in Murphysbro)and it is amazing.

The location in Carbondale is a great place to get traditional horchata and free chips and delicious salsa! I have the same waitress every time and I love her! She is very nice and attentive I will update with her name she deserves the recognition!

The food is hot and fresh! I also like the decor I feel like I am on vacation for the short moment 🤗

The chips were crisp, the horchata was the best in town, and there are many ice cream flavor choices for fried ice cream.

We had fajitas for two, which was totally filling and came out sizzling. The kids chicken strips were a hefty portion and delicious. I tried the flan, which was standard fare, but still plenty good.

What a beautiful place to go if you want to have fun. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is great. The music they play keeps you in a happy, go lucky mood.

What a little gem in Illinois. This place is very authentic and the food is outstanding. Prices are fair and the service was great.

Did take-out while stopping in town overnight. Shared the fajita quesadilla and it was AWESOME. Large portions. Very friendly staff, too.

Yummy Mexican food seated very quickly outdoor and indoor seating. Decent prices excellent service. Food was tasty.

I love the food but it costs more for less food Now I used to put together a better presentation of the food my husband got nachos and I got Sergio's taco salad. His food barley came with any chips which were soggy .. it used to be packaged separately. Might think twice before going back to Sergio's 😓 which is sad because it was better than this

We ate outside front of the restaurant. The family that waited on us was very sweet Ladies the cook did a amazing job They absolutely made it very sad day a very great day

Food was fresh and delicious. Service was good. There was an ice cream section that I didn't try this time. I will try to get some next time.

Staff was super friendly. Ordered of the lunch menu, food was excellent and prepared quickly.

I had the launch special qasedia. One of the best I have ever had. Guacamole and sala were great with fresh chips.

Had the Mama's plate, wish I would have gotten a full serving for leftovers!! Very clean, great service
