Before coming to Black Diamond, my wife and I thought we knew what there was to know about ciders. After an hour of one-on-one conversations with the owner, we left with an expanded understanding of different types of cider, the contents and acidity levels, and what makes craft cider unique. Ian, thank you for your treatment, we appreciate your hospitality so very much!! Our pup, Pilot, loved his time too.

Our tour and tasting at Black Diamond was a fantastic experience! The ciders are delicious; we purchased several bottles to go. The family that owns the orchard is very kind and knowledgeable.

We spent an afternoon hanging out at the cider shack, which is a very peaceful experience. I look forward to returning when in the FLX region again!

First of all- they have delicious and varied types of Cider! This place is a real authentic Cidery, where the cider is made from the beautiful Orchards that you drive by on your way to the Tasting Room. Not your typical commercialized experience. Family owned with an interesting backstory, and the people couldn’t be nicer!

Crossing Canada I felt a calling from as far away as Lake Superior, a voice kept nagging "go east boy" to the land with long skinny lakes. Like a lost dog finding its way home over hill and dale arriving home all knappy and emaciated, I found my way to the arms of welcome, wonder and wisdom. Imagine your idea of a cultivation/fermentation wizard, give him a baritone voice and an encyclopedic mind and you'll not be disappointed. Plan an afternoon of cider and take notes.. there will be a test.

Such a lovely experience. A quaint hidden gem of the finger lakes, Black Diamond Farm and Cider delivered not only lush scenery, but also a warm welcome from the owners, and an incredible array of cider options. I couldn’t recommend them enough and will make it a point to visit them again!

Ian and his wife are incredible people and were kind enough to share the history of their farm and ciders with us. The tasting we had were well crafted and unique. This is a staple in the finger lakes region and must stop for those seeking an idea cidery experience.

The atmosphere and staff/owner were great, as were the labradoodles (Rosie and Olive)! They will take you out into the orchard if they aren't too busy. Rosie really likes it if you try to steal her stick! I really appreciate that they offered the designated driver some (unfermented) cider (first time I have encountered ANY provision for the designated driver on the winery/cidery circuit). Our group sampled flights of both the dry and the sweet. My GF favored the Ashmead Kernel and another dry whose name escapes her.

In a stroke of luck we decided to come here after a day of exploring around town, and it was such a wonderful experience. Erica was so knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and kind. The grounds were beautiful, we got to buy their farm grown apples, and try a bunch of different ciders. All of the ciders were so good, I had lower expectations because I can have relatively narrow tastes when it comes to alcohol (unfortunately) but all were so approachable, refreshing, and tasty, so we settled on a bottle to leave with and enjoy during the rest of our short stay. Learning about the process of growing the apples and making the and history of the family farm, and Erica’s dad Ian who created the ciders was such a treat. I highly recommend making an appointment and visiting if you have the time.

This was hands down our favorite cider stop. The ciders were the best we tried -more like wine than beer, but the people were the cherry on top. Dominic and Vida were so kind and welcoming to both us and our toddler. We’re already planning a return trip.

The tasting was a fantastic experience. We were the only couple present for the hour and got to know Ian, a retired Cornell University pomologist, as he led us through several ciders to taste. Along for the tasting was Rosie, Ian's sweet and loving goldendoodle. We had such a phenomenal time talking to Ian and tasting the various ciders. I'm so glad we stopped in while in the area. Definitely make time to stop by and chat with Ian. He has a wealth of knowledge and tons of stories to tell, and truthfully, he alone made the entire experience worth it! Thank you, Ian!

Ian and the Black Diamond Cider family are a wealth of knowledge and great hosts. We called ahead to ask if they could accommodate our large group (10 people) and Ian reserved us a time no issues with only 24 hours notice. We booked a 3pm tasting when they closed at 4 which first was a nice convenience to accommodate our schedule but then they stayed with us well past 5pm due to the extensive conversation we had about cider! Ian’s experience with horticulture is something you’d expect to see at a convention center or a college lecture hall but instead you get it for a simple tasting fee while enjoying delicious cider! Strongly recommend Black Diamond Cider if your in town and want a fulfilling experience down the path of cider.

This farm is a don't miss it place. Great Star varieties of 1hard cider.over 100 different types of apples. Ian and Jackie Merwin are great hosts and the view across the lake is beautiful. Fully solar powered, a great system of gravity irrigation and great bird watching. It is truly an orchard for a sustainable 21st century. Rachel Carson would be proud! Thanks Ian.

This is a great spot with great product! Family run, we met everyone involved while we were there. We shared flights so we could try all of their offerings and we came home with a few bottles. These guys know what they are doing!
