Stopped by based on reviews. Bill (owner) was there to help and talk trout. He was very helpful and recommended some fishing spots and flies. Took them out the next day and landed a trout in a few casts based on his recommendations. Would definitely recommend his business.

We stop by here every year to buy the Sno-Park Permit. It's only $5, and very convenient. It's valid for all the Snow-Park on the way up .

My family and I have stopped by a few times. They are very kind and easy to work with. Bill goes out of his way to help you. I planned on learning fly fishing and decided to drive from Tracy to Arnold just to purchase it from him. Way worth the drive. Ended up with two sets of fly kits and he set it all up for us and showed us how to use them. Amazing customer service. Highly recommend going.

One of the BEST fishing shops in the central Sierra. Also a great value on quality rental ski gear if you head up in winter. Bill (the owner) is a great guy - good with the kids and super knowledgeable about where to drop in a line. On his bait recommendation I landed 4 solid trout at Lake Alpine. Literally had a bite in less than 10 mins. Kids loved it!

Bill is very knowledgeable about all things outdoors, especially fishing. He knows what's working and where to go. "How you doing? Give me a hug." is a common Bill greeting. I often stop by just to say hello and chat. Bill is one of a kind! Five stars is not enough.

Mr. Bill is the owner (and a character) and knows everything to know about fishing in the area. He has an excellent inventory of fishing, camping and snow sports equipment to go along with his knowledge. The prices are very competitive. Call ahead during peak season for rental availability.

Privately owned and operated business for forty years. Have bought boots here twice in the last 15 years. Best quality and reasonable prices. Would recommend visiting if you're serious about outdoor gear. Great shopping environment and service. Owner is musician and of highest integrity.

Bill the owner is amazing. He took his time to pick out a rod and reel to meet my budget and then showed me how to put together the rig for lake fishing. Genuine guy who didn't make me feel embarrassed to ask rookie questions.
Stores like this hardly exist anymore, but when you find one it is a joy.

The best hand wax around! The owner waxed my skis himself and spent a good 15 minutes cleaning and waxing. Very friendly and helpful, highly recommend this outdoors store. Will be coming back here in the future!

Great, old fashioned friendly service. Good supply of equipment for a group of half a dozen for beginner ski rentals, including jackets and pants.

One thing to mention is that while the woman behind the counter is helpful, as other reviewers have written she can come across a bit condescending. I was fine, especially since I tended to agree with her useful advice for managing a group of first time skiers and ensuring they were well protected and warm, but if you have thin skin you may not find it tolerable. She should work on her communication style. Making the customer feel stupid, especially tourists likely to write a 1 star review after having their egos bruised, is generally not a good thing for your business.

That said, thank you to all the owners and staff for taking care of us all on our Christmas vacation. A warm Merry Christmas to you all.

Honestly this best is great, has lots of fishing supplies, but, rods, and suggestions on were to fish. You can also buy fishing license here too.
