Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop - Chillicothe, OH

My Granddaughter had to make a Grandpa Joe's stop when she came for a visit! She enjoyed filling $5 boxes and picked a soda from the wall!
Being that my husband is Poppa Joe this was a obvious spot just for the name alone. But, it honestly was one of the highlights of their day in Chillicothe.
Next time we will slot out a little more time to be able to investigate the aisles and aisles of goodies. It was fun to have Charlie and the Chocolate Factory playing in the shop.
An enjoyable time for both Grandpa and the teen turned girl in this shop!

If you ever miss the candy you had growing up, this place is worth checking out. The drive from southern Columbus was less than an hour so we'll definitely be going back. They had a huge variety of sweets both retro and new, a lot of fun and weird gift type stuff, and snacks from around the world. The wall of beverages was cool, but our favorite part was the $5 candy bar box. A huge variety of candies from which to choose, and all you can fit into the box (I'm going with a different strategy next time and I think I'll be able to fit even more, haha). My kid and I had a blast on our little road trip there and we can't wait to visit again.

Saw some candies I hadn't for years. Bought a Blackberry Clearly Canadian water. I used to drink them when I was in highschool in the early to mid 90's. Hadn't seen them in a long time. I still really like the taste. Also bought 2 of the huge homemade peanut butter cups. Delicious and richly flavored. My wife and I both liked them, but could have gotten just one to split. Very sweet.

This was such a fun family experience on our way home from a trip. We made a special detour to visit it. We were not disappointed. My kids absolutely loved it. So did my husband and I.

I loved this place! The candy ranged from my childhood favorites to things I didn't know existed. They had giant gummy bears that would take me a year to eat. They had funny socks, weed oven mitts, funny soap, and many others. Some of these items was adult humor. I will definitely return! This place is great!

My kids (teenagers!) still love this place. We don't go very often but hop in for a $5 box they get to choose their mix and they spend so much time figuring out how much of each thing they're going to put in. Fun little shop and the staff has always been nice. Haven't really tried some of their other unique stuff but the shop is wall to wall of all kinds of treats. Glad we have this downtown.

This candy store was so charming. They have an amazing selection of traditional nostalgic candies like wax bottles and filled fruit, homemade favorites like fudge and caramels, international candies, and more. The variety of drinks was incredible they have everything Jones, yoohoo, Duff Beer soda, Butterbeer, Ale 8, the list goes on and on. There were cute little toys and toy candy dispensers, and my favorite was the $5 candy buffet. We filled the box with a wide selection of candies it was well worth the price. I also enjoyed the character sections like Marvel, Harry Potter, Hello Kitty, and others, as well as the fun candy and dessert themed games and puzzles. There is truly something here for everyone. I highly recommend this sweet stop!

Oh my God. This was an incredible experience. It's like you step off of Paint Street and straight on to Main Street USA - I'm talking Disney World folks. Just walking through the store with its elaborate displays of colorful confectionaries was a magical experience! I was giddy - giddy I say - and that was before I got a single piece of that candy in me. This ain't your daddy's industrial big box setup, but it is definitely your daddy's candy store. Worth the trip for me from Lancaster just to experience it.

Cute store! I saw the billboard and drove in, mainly to buy buckeyes while I was in Ohio. I’m not really into candy, I don’t have kids, but I love stopping at candy stores.

This one was cool, they had astronaut ice cream, which for some reason I always look for

They were great, allowing me to use their restroom as well. I was traveling and had to pee. So thank you again for that!

Oh my goodness! This NEW location is huge and completely packed with candy, games, and trinkets. Fun atmosphere, as you can see in my pics- rubber chickens dangle from lights, a toilet display, and the ever-popular Candy Buffet @ $5for everything you can fit in a box.

Amazing for novelties and for the flashback of candy from all walks of life... I enjoyed my candy buffet and it was delicious because my two doggies were very excited to get some swedish fish for a treat and I will return with my pups approval.. giggles

Can't say enough good things.
We learned about Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop from a "Discover Ohio" on-line posting. We planned our outing. Traveled from Central Ohio to Chillicothe. It was like CHRISTMAS to the children- and us adults!
$5 boxes of mixed candles of YOUR choice! Eclectic collections of candies and related items, sugar sodas....a sight to behold. WELL WORTH THE TRIP!!!
(Also check out the train cars down the street, and plan to eat "local": a few "mom n pop" eateries- we opted for Crazy Dog Grill)

They have a lot more room in this location which definitely makes it nicer. There is a wide selection and is not jammed together in a small area.. You are sure to find something to delight the kid in all of us.

Wow, what a great place we found while looking at the lights in Chillicothe. We all loved the store, us as parents and our 17 and 18 year old. We plan on going back.

Great store !! So many choices, newer and older treats for all ages. Found some cream savers ! Good prices, friendly staff, nice location.

Nice variety of older style candies. Can buy by the pound. Specialty sweets. Different style of gift also. Awesome place.

Such a fun place to visit for all ages! Bulk candy in the back, games and memorabilia in the front. Huge variety of all kinds of candy in between and a wall of soda varieties too.

I didn't realize how much this store actually offered. Especially if you have a sweet tooth....it's definitely the right place to go!
