It is a landmark of ancient city Khiva. Near to the south gate. This minaret is around 45 meter high. If you wnat to go up the tower you have to pay 150K som additionally beside the Khiva ticket which is 150k. Bery narrow steps to the top of the tower and slippery. You can see the whole Khiva city. Worth to visit but not easy to go up through steep steps. You can see the really fantastic view.

After a while we headed towards the Islam Hoja Minaret, which is the only one in the city you can climb. I paid the 100k soms (£7) and started climbing up the spiral staircase. Each step was very tall and there wasn't enough headroom to stand up straight. Also, if anyone was coming down you had to squeeze against the sides so they could pass. Once at the top though you had an amazing view over the city and it actually felt safe, after the initial shock of the height. Climbing down was more difficult than going up but there were no mishaps!

This almost a modern complex dates back to the beginning of the XX century. It includes a minaret and a mosque. The complex is called in honour of Islam Khoja, Prime Minister of Isfandiar Khan. Islam Khoja minaret called the symbol of Khiva.
It is narrowed upwards, which dates back to the earliest examples of the architecture of the XIV century. The brickwork alternates with bands of glazed patterns on the minaret. The height of the minaret 56.6 meters, diameter of the fundament is 9.5 at the base.

Islam Khoja Minaret is one of the landmarks and top attractions of Khiva 🇺🇿. It is the tallest building in the city and features lovely alternation of vibrant patterns and shapes. The entrance to climb up has been closed so the minaret can be appreciated only from the base.

One of the highlights of a beautiful city. It can be seen from almost every spot of Khiva old town. Unfortunately you can not enter it and climb up.

Beautiful place. Beautiful minaret in the middle of the city of Khiva. It is painted in its characteristic blue color of the top dome.

Great view from the top but quite hard to climb, steps are high and the celling is low.

Climbing the minaret was challenging but worth the effort. You get to have the best view from up there. It’s a bit pricey I must say though. I would recommend coming early in the morning, you might get lucky and climb it for free.

This beautifully decorated minaret from 1910 is not only a feast for the eyes, but with 57 meters it is also the highest minaret in Uzbekistan. The climb over the narrow staircase is definitely worth it, because from the top of the minare you will have an unobstructed view of the Ichan Kala.

Pay the 10,000 som and climb it. Worth the view. Stairs are steep but easily climbing. Would not attempt if you have heart or leg issues
