Be sure to take the chocolate tour if you have the time (plan at least two hours) to get a thorough understanding of the whole process it takes to make authentic chocolate.

The tour begins outside and will take you along a road where you may have a chance to see some if the native wildlife, such as sloths, toucans, frogs, and a variety of insects. The guide is very good at spotting these and will point anything out if encountered.

It is along this path that you'll learn about optimal conditions to produce cocoa beans, as well as some of the hazards to the process.

After climbing a steep set of stairs, you'll see the process from cutting open the cocoa fruit (including a taste sample) as well as the fermenting and drying prep.

You'll next be taken to a house to see where the chocolate is made, and includes taste samples of liquid chocolate, and several types of chocolate flavors made by local producers.

Caution: this tour is not advised if you have serious mobility issues, although they will make accommodations as best as they can (I was able to get a ride back down the path).

The tour ends at the store where you can purchase merchandise or food at a discount. The chocolate flavors you will have sampled during the presentation will be available.

We went here for a Chocolate Tour. It was really cool! My kids had a blast! our tour guide Dexter was such a nice guy and knew everything about how chocolate was made. We walked up the mountain and he told us all about the chocolate farm, the property, the animals. We saw several sloths, a tucan, a garden snake, and a ton of (harmless) Golden Orb-weaver spiders which were really beautiful. Then at the top of the hill we saw how they make the chocolate. The views up there were spectacular. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour, the coffee and chocolate shop.

Food Quality: very good breakfast. Huevos rancheros were not what i was familiar with from Mexican cuisine, but they were a nice surprise and very good.

Portions: definitely was not hungry after this huge breakfast.

Drinks: some nice healthy smoothies and of course the typical breakfast options like juices, tea, coffee, etc.

Price: $$-$$$ not bad for the plate quantity and quality.

Service: very friendly and most of the service is self service. You get a beeper and pick up your food at the counter.

Atmosphere: nice and chilled. Didnt realize there was a second floor until after i was done.

Highlights: food and seem to have some interesting tours as well, as they have their own cacao production.

Payment Method: cash, cc

Caribeans Chocolate and Coffee in Limón, Costa Rica, is a true gem. From the friendly staff to the incredible atmosphere, it's a must-visit spot. We enjoyed a variety of chocolate sippings, black coffee, fresh juices, and delicious breakfast options like burritos, pancakes and the Costa Rican typical Gallo Pinto. The location, nestled in the Caribbean jungle with easy access from Cocles to Puerto Viejo, adds to the charm. Plus, the staff are fluent in both Spanish and English, and the wifi is reliable. Highly recommended for a taste of the Caribbean!

Great tour. Dexter was knowledgeable and great fun! Told us all about the cacao and its history, besides that he told us about the nature around the farm. The tasting itself exceeded all our expectations, sooo much chocolate!! The girls at the bar were also super friendly and outgoing. Would definitely recommend going here! We'll be back, but need to recover from all the chocolate we just had ;-)

I may have had the most delicious breakfast and coffee here I have ever had in my entire life! My boyfriend and I visited puerto viejo for about a week and had breakfast here three days. We also did the chocolate tour which was incredible. Our guide was Daniel, I believe and he was fantastic! I’m sure the tour is always phenomenal no matter who’s your guide. We got to try raw cacao and learned so much about the land and their traditions. We spotted the little red frogs, monkeys, sloths and tucans on our short hike up to the factory where they make their chocolate. Also incredibly delicious!
For breakfast my boyfriend and I would share the huevos rancheros and the breakfast burrito. We had to try the chocolate pancakes on our last stop which were amazing. Fluffy and light and delicious. Also came with the tastiest banana I have ever eaten. 100/10 recommend this spot💥

We spontaneously decided to do a chocolate farm tour. No reservation needed, just arrived at 9:45am to join the tour at 10am. The tour guide was super friendly, patient, passionate and we learned a lot from him while having a great time. Highly recommended!

Authentic hot chocolate from the best chocolate tour in town. Unfortunately the chocolate shop closes earlier than the restaurant does. Their smoothies were also delicious 😋

The best coffee in the area! We didn’t really find any other coffee shops in Puerto Viejo that could beat this one. We also did the chocolate tour here and would highly recommend it. We saw sloths and the guide was super friendly and informative. You’re also supporting a local farm :)

This establishment server some of the best cold chocolate with milk that I have ever tried. It was not too sweet, but yet so delicious, creamy and decadent. If you are in town, you must try this place. Their menu is extensive and they serve all kind of desserts and food. We tried the Tiramisu and chocolate banana muffin. I would go for the muffin next time as it was to die for. The staff are very friendly and very communicative as well. The ambiance is chill and very open. They even have a second floor. If I am ever in town again, I will bring my laptop and get some work done at this location.

One of my favorite places in Puerto! Paul and Jeanne are the best! I love watching them grow this business. The coffee drinks are wonderful, the food is good, and the chocolate is the best around! Grown and processed on site... Highly recommend doing the chocolate tour to learn all about it.

The chocolate flight was fun to try. The vegan banana chocolate muffin was so rich and moist. I love how all the muffins are loaded with pieces of chocolate.

Great vibe here...we all loved just hanging out and returned multiple times during our trip.

The only thing I can say bad about this place is that it's not cheap, but oh my lawd, the food, coffee, and chocolate is soo good. The Huevos Rancheros is the best I've had in Costa Rica. The vibe is chill with a sweet second level to hang out. Be sure to go into the chocolate humidor! One of a kind.

Okay so I just recently discovered this place and it's one of my new favorites. It is a chocolate and coffee shop that also serves breakfast and sandwiches up until about 3:00. It is super cute they also offer chocolate tours a couple of times a week if you're interested in that. Not everyone can make a good chai tea latte in fact a lot of places will use the flavoring instead of the real deal. This place did not they made me a cold chai tea latte that had real cardamom and cloves In it. As far as I'm concerned they're okay. The coffee is good, and the sandwiches look super yummy. So far we've only had little bakery bites. But when I was just in there on Sunday he gave my daughter a little sample of chocolate which I always appreciate when shopkeepers go out of their way for kids. I can't wait to try this place for lunch.

We just loved this place. Friendly staff, great tasting fresh food, exceptional coffee, and other drinks.
We bought quite a bit of chocolate after going on a tour with Oscar. What a great dude. He pointed out and new quite a bit about wildlife, plants, and of course his tour of the chocolate making operation was very informative, fun, and unique.
Our goal is to go back in the near future.
