Sun Trails Tours

We took three hiking tours through Sun Trails: Cabo Blanco, Curú Wildlife Refuge, and the Trails, Bridges & Waterfalls Tour. Each hike was guided by the great Abi! She has good knowledge of the flora & fauna for each tour; is concerned with the safety of the hikers; and has a good sense of humor. We enjoyed all of our hiking tours with her.

Plus, individually I went zip lining with Sun Trails: Such Fun! I do not recall the names of the two men who guided us through the zip lining course; but they took the safety of the six zip liners seriously. I felt safe in their hands. One zip-line guide had a good sense of humor, which brought humor to the tour.

In the lower Nicoya Peninsula Sun Trails is my recommendation for fun, knowledgeable, and safe activities.

Had a couple of great experiences - we went for the Montezuma waterfall hike and the bioluminescence tour with them…Marcos was super knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour … accommodated my fear at every step and was great to chat with along the way

If you're adventurous enough you can bring your kid in a stroller like my best friend's wife. The views and bridges are unparalleled. The walk can be easy or slightly challenging, I do recommend doing the whole thing. If you don't pay for a guide you see a lot, but they are super knowledgeable and are probably worth it.

We really enjoyed our zip line tour with Sun Trails. Our family of 5 (youngest 7yo) could all participate but if there were any spots that were more challenging or just too scary for the little one, she could zip with one of the guides.
Their facilities were well maintained.
Stopping at the waterfalls to swim was a highlight.
The scenery from the treetops was incredible with a view of the cost at one point.

We used Sun Trails for 3 different excursion days - the Canopy Tour at Montezuma, the Curu Wildlife Refuge tour and the Tortuga Island trip. For all 3, Sun Trails were brilliant. Extremely reliable, great communication, and everything ran on time. The staff were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly and made each experience really fun. We opted to use their tranportation service for all three days which was great and made everything really easy. All in all, highly recommend booking with Sun Trails.

The boys had a blast. The guides including Max were great. The swimming was refreshing with a cliff jump (12 ft). The canopies were so beautiful with monkeys and birds.

Used their taxi service and it was top notch! Customer service was very responsive and easily answered any questions I had, all the other people in my group said similar things about their customer service.

Our guides were awesome. When I told them I've never done this before, they were very happy to talk me through. I will say, if you aren't into climbing natural stairs that may have a wide stride or if you aren't able to climb very many, do not go here. That being said, I wasn't very fit to climbed the stairs and they were very patient with me. Every line was talked through. Thank you for the fun time.

Awesome Zipline experience. They upgraded the cables to carbon coated so they are nice and smooth,fast and quiet. They also have an upgraded weight limit of 250 lbs. I am 240 lbs and it wasn't an issue. Beautiful beautiful trip. You get to swim in the waterfalls and jump from one, see monkeys and have an amazing experience in the canopy of the jungle. Be prepared for climbing many vertical inclines/steps. Gets the blood flowing, you feel great. They provide water as well. Great experience!!

Ernesto was our guide to Curu Reserve. He was an outstanding guide!!! We are from Rhode Island in the USA. He was so easy to be with from the very start of our drive there…friendly and made us feel comfortable. When we arrived he was quick to show us unbelievable wildlife. 🦜 Macaws, capuchin and howler monkeys, deer and all sorts of birds and insects. His knowledge about the animals was fascinating and he had a story to tell about each. We were amazed at how important the role of a simple termite is to the survival of the reserve. He made us laugh a lot and had a beautiful “surprise” at the end of the tour. He served us refreshing watermelon and drinks. He made us understand how nature works together in a perfect way. It was not only a chance to see amazing wildlife, but it was extremely education. I highly recommend this tour!

This place is a must see adventure when in Costa Rica. The staff are very professional and courteous.

I booked the Shared Shuttle from Liberia to Santa Teresa as they were the best price and only ones able to get me to my place! Great Service and always was in reach to answer any questions! Highly recommend them!

These waterfalls and swimming holes are truly beautiful. The trails are steep and you are walking on rocks and uneven ground a lot. Sturdy footwear is a must.
Our tour guide Ernesto was wonderful. This was a tough hike for my 72 year old mother in law, and he literally helped her every step of the way. The service included van pick up/drop off, and drinks and fruit after the hike.

What a incredible experience! Being apprehensive about heights, I was hesitant to join my family but trust me when I say, this is a must do activity - no butterflies as you gradually pick up speed for those of you that are nervous about that!! Staff were unbelievably professional and very safety conscious but also great fun with the very much expected jokes - you’ll see what I mean 😂! We were lucky as it was just the four of us in a family at the 9am Monday slot and we were able to spend almost an hour at the waterfalls taking pictures and jumping off the one waterfall! At the end of the day, I would highly recommend this place! You won’t be disappointed!!

Great place to do something different in the area. Well organized and not expensive. I recommend it! You will enjoy the view, the water and the walk.

The zip line tour was awesome! Best excursion. The guides were great. The driver that picked us up at Banana Beach was amazing, too.

Amazing Experience, Friendly, professional and fun service, you'll have a great time with canopy, hike and swimming on a natural pool along the amazing views in the middle of nature above the trees! Totally worth and recommended if you are in town!

Awesome canopy Zipline tour above the Montezuma waterfalls! The staff is very fun and crack jokes also while being professional and making sure everyone follows the rules to keep everyone safe!

*Bring an bathing suit and towel in a snug fitting backpack. They let you jump off the waterfalls in the middle of the tour! 🤙🏽

My mom and I enjoyed a Sun Trails two-day overnight tour from Tambor to Monteverde and the Arenal volcano with Ernesto as our guide and driver.

Ernesto is a very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced guide with an excellent sense of humour, which made the trip even more satisfying. He is very passionate about his profession and it is obvious that Ernesto enjoys sharing his knowledge of his country and the wonders that it contains.

Ernesto continually excelled in making the trip a memorable one for both of us and we feel that we were lucky to have experienced Costa Rica through his eyes. We highly recommend him as a tour guide and Sun Trails for any adventure-not just zip-lining! It was a great experience! (He is also amazing at finding wildlife - especially birds!)
