Beautiful hike. Crampons definitely recommended as very slippery. Lots of beautiful falls the whole way

Beautiful waterfall! The hike is worth it. Took us around 40 minutes, but the views on the way were awesome.
In winter its smaller, but still very nice.

Worth the hike. Takes about 45 minutes to get there, and if you that the 2 trail across the valley, then take the 3 trail back down, that takes another hour or so. But I assume most people just take the same path they took in back out. If you can go at dawn, do it. It's beautiful.

A must see site in Iceland. Hike up to the waterfall from the parking lot is about 40 minutes, but not that tough. Cramps recommended as it can be quite slippery

Pay attention to weather! Hike to the waterfall can take 30-45 min depending on how you are fit. We did it in 25 min one way and spent there additional 30 min, so it was about 1,5h. Path can be steeped, so good hiking shoes would be beneficial. We totally admired the hike and the viewing point even if it was a bit rainy but luckily not foggy. There is a possibility to take another route to come back to the visitors center, but we did not take it. This waterfall was definitely a highlight.

Tip: when you park at Skaftafell- Svartifoss and Glacier lagoon both on the same day , you will save 50% of parking fee in parka app.

Incredible waterfall with basalt columns. Was a nearly 1 mile hike to get there, with some elevation. It’s worth the effort to get there. Parking area charges small fee and there are facilities, cafe, etc.

Beautiful waterfall surrounded by basalt pillars. You need to do a short hike from the Skaftafell visitor center to reach it. Trail is not long, well marked and easy to follow.

Arguably the highlight of the Skaftafell area, at least in my opinion, which is why I only did the Svartifoss Trail before moving on. A steep hike up from the car park. Loved the fact that they have used some of the loose hexagonal basalt stones as steps! You can do the trail as an out & back but I opted to walk over the bridge in front of the waterfall & make it a loop trail coming back down the other side of the river, which was a much quieter stretch than the trail proper, nice if you want a bit of peace from the tourist throng.

This is a beautiful waterfall that is part of the Skaftafell national park. The river carved its way in the basalt and columns of basalt seround the fall. The walk to the fall is quite stip - around 35 minutes of climbing in a 10% incline. On a clear day, nice views of the glaciers. Not suitable to wheelchairs.

a beautiful waterfall that is worth walking to reach it, about 2 kilometers. The landscapes are beautiful to and from the waterfall

One of the beautiful Waterfalls... Requires a trek close to 500mts to 750 mts.. During winters make sure to get crampons

One of the many natural wonders, the pillars which are all naturally formed by cooking lava makes for a stunning view which looks straight out of a fantasy movie. The pictures speak for themselves, but actually standing by the foot of the waterfall, experiencing the looming columns rise above you is something which pictures does not do justice. I would absolutely recommend going there! It is worth noting that the waterfall is located around 30-40 minutes away from the parking lot (you can probably run-ish there in 15 minutes if you are athletic and in a hurry) and it is a bit uphill, so be prepared!

Great hike to the waterfall. The beginning portion was fairly steep and we did not expect that, but once you get past that, it was fine (and downhill). Wonderful views of the Glacier along the way. There is not a lot of shade until you get closer to Svartifoss - we walked in full sun and it got hot! But that just meant the waters of the falls were so much more refreshing. It's a beauty for sure! Some people were going past the marked area and I really wouldn't recommend that as chunks of the basalt columns can fall and it's important to respect the area. You can get a great picture without having to go past the marker. Took us 45 min there and then back.

Beautiful waterfall of moderate size. Good photos. Free access, nice paths. Dress for strong winds.

Very cool. Just a little unfortunate how far apart the different sites are. You need about 1.5-3 hours each, if you want to see the falls and the glacier.

It's a bit of a walk uphill to reach svartifoss but the views along the way makes it a nice experience.

Such a cool place for people to take lots of cool photos and videos. Please don’t be afraid to take cool images. This is actually a pretty short hike but it’s deep in the beginning. Super easy once you get through the elevation at the beginning. Just bring a bottle of water.

About a 30min walk to the main waterfall with the uphill bit at the start. It's downhill all the way back.

Well worth it for the views. The waterfall looks much more impressive up close than the photos!! Must see!

The basalt structure behind the waterfall is magnificent and makes this waterfall one of a kind in the dozens of waterfalls in Iceland. There is a 45 minute walk from the parking to the waterfall and you can see several other smaller falls along the way. A small parking fee is needed (around 1000-1500 ISK for small cars and SUVs). Other than having some stupid people that cannot read the sign asking to not cross the bars, everything else is perfect here.
