When it’s icy, the walk takes about an hour both ways. Amazing glacier and nature overall.

Recommend this glacier walk over Skaftafell, but if you have time, I would do both because they're both unique. It's a shorter walk to the glacier and there's no river or sand blocking it at the end, so you can get up close. There are also small icebergs floating in the lake which is cool. The water is murky though. Highly recommended.

Amazing place with beautiful close-up views of the glacier and pieces of it floating in the lagoon. Free toilets available and restaurants nearby. Parking can be very crowded.

Awesome view point. The road to reach it is not in good conditions (I think it is officially off-road), but we drove slowly and we eventually reached the parking. The view is magnificent, and we even saw a chunk of ice fall down from the glacier.

One of the highlights from Iceland, you can hike over and touch the glacier if you are adventurous enough, although it is difficult for most. If you stay long enough you are likely to hear and see parts of the massive glacier falling into the lagoon.

The closest experience to the glacier by yourself and without the crowds. No drone restrictions so it was amazing for video and photography. Just be mindful of the hiking risk.

Amazing ice tongue at the end of a beautiful and easy walking of around 10 minutes that starts from a big and free parking area

One of the best places we stopped on the Ring Road. Shots for the movie Interstellar were filmed here. One negative was the road out to the parking lot.

The most amazing experience. Hike up where your not supposed to and get a great view. It's super windy so bring face coverage.

Amazing view! Worth to come take a look but be careful , don’t get too close to the edge, after all, it’s a glacier !

Great location to watch the glacier
The road is bumpy so drive slowly

If you continue to walk on the edge of the cliff you can reach the glacier, but I wouldn't say it's easy and it can take a looong time !

Amazing view point of glacier. From highway, It is 2 km driving on a gravel road. But it totally worth to visit.

Neat spot where you can get up close to the end of the retreating glacier, risking life and limb if you’re not careful. ;-) Amazing views of the glacier.
