I did not climb the steps to the top of the falls, but I understand it is worth it. Bring your spikes for your shoes during the off season. We had a beautiful day to enjoy the falls.

If you want to visit the Skogafoss, then this is as close as you can get by car. And make sure you don't just stop at the waterfall. Take the long way up the stairs. Not because of the waterfall view, but for the amazingly beautiful valley behind it with stunning walks and hikes. A magical area not to be missed.

The parking lot is huge, suitable for cars of any size, RVs and busses. There's no fee. Shops, a visitors center and public toilets are also on site.

A very convenient place to drop you car. Just be aware of many - some quite deep - potholes on the parking lot. Especially if you have a regular car or a lower vehicle.

One of many amazing waterfalls in Iceland. You can try to walk up to the top but it is challenging during the winter when there is so much ice.

If you walk towards the falls, on the right side there is a small cave one can sit in solitude and listen to the rumble of the water falling from this great falls. Our photo was in wide angle so it looks a bit away, but it’s quite close. Close enough to feel the slight spray

There is plenty of parking space just off the main road. The view of the waterfall just as you drive into the car park is breathtaking!
There are some newly built hotels etc just before the waterfall.
The cafe looks like a great spot to have a drink while looking at the beautiful waterfall.
The traffic is quite constant with people driving in all the time as the waterfall can be easily spotted from the main road. Signs are well posted and the car park is free.
Don’t miss visiting this great spot.
There is also a long flight of stairs to get to the top to see the view but I didn’t go and the fit ones who did were saying it was not easy! Lol! But that will definitely be your workout for the day!

Beautiful waterfall. We were there in January and was quiet so we managed to get all the photos we wanted. I'd imagine in the height of summer it would be very busy so probably best to get there early.

Incredible waterfall. More falls if you follow the trail. We only saw three more then the trail got icy and we hit a literally ice wall we weren't willing to climb.

Gorgeous park year round. No maintenance on the stairs in winter months so be prepared with your gloves, crampons, etc to climb the stairs. Views are priceless.

Lovely waterfall that you can experience from as far or as close as you want. There is a nice climb of 461 steps up to the viewing platform to see the water before it falls.

Free parking and spacious for a lot a véhicules. Once you park, you can see the fall from 2 different view points. From the top, walking some steers ( the steps are high at the beginning) if you are not in good shape you can do it, but you will need to rest time to time. At the top you can see the waterfall and also walk up to the river with nice views. From the bottom of the cascade you can see it, from a black sand beach. You cannot walk behind. to take pictures close to the fall, you need to wear proper clothing. We recommend to take a break afterwards at the fish and chips food truck that you can find before getting to the fall. It's delicious!! ( red and white dots flag)

The parking was very close to the waterfall. Only a 3 minute walk, or even less. It’s also very big, so we had absolutely no trouble finding a parking spot for our big campervan.

This is one of the most beautiful places that Iceland has to offer, it takes about 1-2 hours to see it all. And if you are in the south of Iceland, you will have to stop by here, it is easily accessable by car and there are lots of parking spaces. If you don't have time to walk through this beautiful canyon, then you can atleast stop by to use the restroom which is open 24 hours a day. But I should warn you, the restroom is not very sanitary!
I would definitely take a walk through this canyon again next time I visit this very beautiful country.

Another great waterfall to visit in Iceland. No parking fee, and you can go up to the top of the waterfall. This is also one of the places where Game of Thrones filmed a scene when Daenerys and Jon fly on the dragons to a frozen waterfall.

Great waterfall, close to parking. You can walk up for about 10 mins to see it from above, although it probably looks better from below.
There is a possible hike further, but it's not recommended to go from mid september to mid may. However, I recommend to at least walk about a minute further, where you'll see another waterfall Hestavadfoss.
