Nice easy walk to this waterfall from Seljalandsfoss, thankfully no ice (End of February). To get into cave to see waterfall you walk through water / stream running out of cave so waterproof shoes a must.

You have to enter a small and wet cave to get to this place. Take water resistant shoes with you and here you go.

Amazing.

If you want to clump the small stone in front of the waterfall take your crampons with you. It’s very icy ans slippery in the winter. March 23

After visiting the famous Seljalandsfoss you really need to check out this waterfall just a short walk away.
It's a bit hidden, but the footpath leads you right to it. No need to repark your car.
It's 40m in height and hidden inside a small canyon. You need to walk through a short section of shallow water (depending on how much water the fall carries at the moment). You will stay with dry feet if you're well balanced and jump from stone to stone. But it really is just a few steps. It's popular, but we went there at around 5.30pm and there weren't many visitors anymore. The fall, the spray, the views up. It's an impressive sight.
There is also a winding trail nearby and a wooden staircase to enable sightseers to climb roughly halfway up and view the falls from another perspective.

A really fantastic fall. The south offers many amazing attractions. And this one here is one of them - and one you shouldn't miss.

One of the best experiences of my life. We visited this waterfall in winter, water was so cold, our boots was full of water (if you enter the cave, its almoust 100 % of getting wet). But beside of that, you will have no regret at all because once you are in cave this is experience like no other!

A MUST SEE! This waterfall is absolutely beautiful! You will have to walk over rocks in the water to view, but it is absolutely worth it! I would highly recommend checking it out!

Incredible experience, but expect to get wet. We had to have a change of clothes right after. Good thing we had a camper van so our clothes and shoes could dry out while we had our meal. There are a few other falls in the area which make for some good photos.

This is first experience of that kind of activity in my life !

Beautiful inside and out 😍

During the winter there is a bit slippery and also there are very wet and cold walls .

Unreal waterfall hidden inside the mountain.

Be prepared with waterproof clothing, shoes and phone case as the mist blowing from the waterfalls will completely soak you.

Only a short walk away from one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland. And likely goes unvisited because of that. It’s relatively easy to get back into the cave, just carefully walk alone the rocks in the water. You may slip in but the water usually isn’t very deep.

Really cool waterfall that is almost hidden from view by the little canyon it carved out. It almost looks like you can't get up close to it but you can if you take careful steps along the canyon wall. Just be mindful of the people who want to walk out. A lot of that short trek is one way at a time. And of course, waterproof clothing is a necessity.

What a jem! This smaller hidden waterfall is beside the larger, flashier Seljalandsfoss. We visited in October on a rainy day. The parking for this site wasn't open, but it's a short walk from the Seljalandsfoss parking lot. You'll see a small falls by a building (not it), then a little walkway that appears to go into the hillside (not it), then you'll come to a short flight of stairs (that's it!). Go down the stairs, wade across a small stream, and there it is! You can see some of it from the creek if you don't want to wade in. We visited on a rainy day, and the water level was too unusually too high for our hiking shoes, but you'd be fine in hiking boots. Such a fun, unusual place to visit!

Scenic and free.

It amazes me that sights like this remain completely free of charge to access. When you join this tour, you are greeted with 3 main waterfalls with varying levels of flows.

This one requires you to walk through the wet alcove, I would not recommend doing this if you are physically disabled and have no one to aid you as it is quite slippery during the winter.

In terms of what it is, it’s surreal. You are taken in by the loud splashing of water and the occasional wind blowing the flow directly onto you as you climb the rock.

Very much worth the visit.

Bonus after parking at Seljalandsfoss, Gljufrabui is just a 560m walk away. Little bit tricky walking over stones in the water to get into the cave though the effort is more than worth it.

It’s an excellent spot. This waterfall is enormous! There is another hidden fall next to this one, so make sure you don’t miss it before you leave the vicinity! I highly recommend doing this fall and a few more along the main highway 😊

Probably the most characteristic waterfall I've seen in Iceland, reachable in 5 minutes on foot from Seljalandsfoss, so it's a must see. It is important to have boots and waterproof clothing as it is necessary to walk on the stream and enter this ravine carved out by the waterfall. There are several paths inside the mountain but inaccessible in this period, perhaps they are passable with a head torch.

So a cave is pretty cool on its own, yeah? A waterfall is too, right? But a cave with a waterfall in it? That's freaking amazing and magic and stuff and things. And loud! And very, very wet.

You're already visiting Seljalandsfoss, so take the time to hoof it over. Seljalandsfoss is pretty impressive, but Gljufrabui is just awesome. There's a difference.

Just make sure you're dressed appropriately. You really don't want to be the one who hikes into a soaking wet grotto wearing flats and a leopard-print blouse. That's not choosing wisely.

FANTASTIC!!! Do NOT miss! Need waterproof boots and rain gear. Walk back a bit and be amazed. Best water fall here!

Such an amazing waterfall, just 10 min walk from Seljandfoss and a must see!
Waterproofs and boots are recommended as you will get wet and stand in small stream.
It does get busy with lots of people wanting to take photos.

A little tricky to get in and out of due to it being only one trail of rocks to climb across so you'll need to waiting for people coming or going in but we'll worth it ❤

This is a must see.. barely any hiking at all and you will get sprayed but just damp and not soaked. Highly recommended. Hard to take good photos because of the extreme contrast but just enjoy the stunning perspective inside the waterfall.
