Amazing waterfall few hours away from Reykjavik. It is around 65m tall, has a free parking and toilets nearby. There are some stairs on the side that you can climb for amazing views. Totally recommend. It is part of the south shore adventure tour.

Parking is free.
There are toilets available.
There is a restaurant nearby.

This waterfall you can not only see from the bottom, but you can climb up the side of it to see the top.
There are stairs, its not an easy climb, but do-able.
It's truly stunning, in both the summer and the winter.
Currently there are lots of large icicles hanging down, and its amazing to look at.
Crampons are advised for footwear in the winter as the path is not cleared.

Amazing waterfall. The water underneath was almost completely frozen, which made it so you could come very close to the water as well. The stairs are about 10 minutes walking (for our group at least, ~20 years old) and from there you can enjoy the waterfall from above and have an amazing view. There's also a walking path to the other waterfalls. Unfortunately it was already getting dark when we were here, but I would definitely recommend going and maybe also taking the walk, because it looked amazing!

Great big water fall with close to main road and large space for parking. Also there is stars so you can explore waterfall from up and follow the river.

Breathtaking. Unbelievable powerful waterfall visible from the main road so it’s hard to miss. Parking is free, and there are toilets nearby so it is definitely a stop worth making. Don’t miss out on some of the upper falls too, just take the intimidating staircase on the right.

Absolutely beautiful. There is always a good sized crowd but it is well worth going. We went when it was raining and also when it was sunny outside a few days later and both times were incredible.

Definitely take the stairs if you are able to and check out the top and all of the other waterfalls of the headwaters

Great place to visit. Of course very touristy. Many tour buses. Many tourists. Can get quiet times.

Great for nice photos but you do need to wait for the perfect moment and it isn't always going to come.

Nice walk to the top too. Great views.

Big and beautiful waterfall! Definitely worth the stop! Plenty of free parking. Camping available. Animals nearby to see. Falls are very misty so wear waterproof clothing. Didn't feel too crowded while I was there, but decent amount of people.

I was amazed by the power of this massive waterfall and you can get really close at the base of the falls. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can climb the never ending stairs all the way to the top. Beware it is a limited view over the falls from the top but it’s really about being able to say you did it, right? Have good waterproof pants and rain gear on. You will get soaked here but it’s totally worth it.

Winter visit and even in dull weather the waterfall was spectacular. Icelandic weather very changeable and we also had a sunny patch. Very high staircase (400 + steps) to a viewing platform, compacted ice made climbing them a bit difficult. Crampons recommended for snowy weather.

This is my second time to visit it and I am in love. The frozen ice around the fall is magnificent. I say you need 1-2 hours by the fall. The tour company allowed only 30 minutes to see the fall and it’s too short. (This is part of a golden circle experience)

Used as a backdrop for scenes in both Game of Thrones and Vikings this certainly did not disappoint. You can walk right up to it (although be prepared to get wet) for unobstructed views and pictures.

Skogafoss is widely admired for its breathtaking beauty and is considered one of Iceland’s most impressive natural attractions. The sheer power of the waterfall, the surrounding scenic landscapes, and the opportunity to witness rainbows on sunny days make it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers exploring the stunning wonders of Iceland. Visit here with plenty of mental preparation and stamina, as you will climb a long staircase to the top of the mountain to see the waterfall.

What an amazing place! It's well known and so we found there were more people here than other parts of Iceland but still well with the visit. There is a large, free car park and we had no trouble parking. The waterfall itself is magnificent and a great photo opportunity. The stairs to the top are also good to do. At the top there is a trail you can walk too. From the information you can follow it for many miles but we just went about 5km along and back. It's mostly straight forward but some tricky bits, but anyone with good mobility and moderate fitness will be ok as far as we could tell. Along the trail the are numerous other waterfalls, some small and some other bigger ones, at regular intervals (at least for the part we walked). The trail itself wasn't too busy and did thin out the further we walked. Overall definitely worth a visit, even if just to see the waterfall itself.

This waterfall, despite all the people, was worth it. The way it falls is almost ethereal. I love nature for the awe-factor of beauty, peacefulness, and power. You get all of that here. This is not one to skip.

This was my favorite place we visited in Iceland, and that is saying A LOT. The scale of this waterfall is really difficult to communicate with photos and words. It is gigantic! Quick walk from the parking area, beautiful view. Just know that you will get wet, so plan accordingly :)

The waterfall is beautiful. However, take a short hike up the stairs and along the trail above the falls. It goes on seemingly forever and just a short walk from the top of the stairs brings you to some incredible views! There’s usually little critters hanging around up there too that are extremely photogenic!

This is one of the major attractions here in Iceland. It's along the ring road and attracts lots of visitors. There's a huge parking lot right on site. Free of charge. And some shops and a public toilet.

The fall is 60m high. A big drop carrying a lot of water. At least when we visited. You can get really close to the fall. So close that you will need some waterproof gear, except you like getting fully soaked. The spray is strong. Unlike Seljalandsfoss you can't walk behing the fall here. Seljalandsfoss for me was a bit more impressive even. But that doesn't make this a bad attraction. It IS an amazing sight. No wonder the fall and location was also used in the 8th season of Game of Thrones.

But don't stop here at the fall and at the bottom. Follow the path and the stairs up. Ok, when it's windy (and it was), the stairs will swing slightly. But it's worth to get up there. Not just to see the fall from the top. That's fine and most visitors actually do just that and stop at the platform on top.

But the path continues following the river upstream. You can hike for miles and miles. There are more waterfalls up here. It's unbelievable beautiful to walk along the valley up there. For us the prettiest spot we've seen in Iceland. And only a handful of visitors.

Amazing falls, steps to the top if you're up for it ! Make sure you have waterproof clothing as the fall is 25mtrs wide so gives off alot if spray !
