Very beautiful scenery! Visited in a snow storm yet it was still amazing. The waterfalls was completely frozen, and the path quite icy, but would definitely recommend a stop to see the mountains around too, and the fjord. Must be amazing with a blue sky!

Geysir, a geyser or a hot spring is part of the Golden Circle. Not to be confused Geysir is the old spring and now the most frequent erupting hot spring is strokkur.

One needs patience to record a hot spring. It takes around 10 minutes between each eruption of Strokkur.

Geysers of Iceland website.
The most visited of the others.
There are 3 big geysers here.
A very short circular route, most of it arranged with a wooden path.
The largest of which has been inactive for several years - Geysir Hot Springs
The one that is quite a bit higher is Strokkur, every 8 to 10 minutes it erupts to a height,
Everyone around is waiting for the eruption, it's not always nice to be in your frame.
A number of blessings that can be seen in the content of the currents through the steam and the transparent water, produce around them a land with a spectacular diversity of colors.

We stopped off to see the Geysirs on our Golden Circle Tour. Dramatic landscapes & very interesting to witness the Geysirs eruption, blasting hot water into the very cold air. We also had lunch at the Geysir
Bistro. Good food & plenty of seating. The fish & chips were yummy.

This was a nice little area to walk around and explore. There is a main parking lot but we parked at another lot across the road that was less crowded with buses and the like. It was a short walk from there to see the geysers. There is also a path that goes up the hill and the view from the top was awesome. The hike wasn't too difficult. We did not go into the visitor center.

Strokkur is supposed to shoot 30m up every 3-5 minutes. On the day of my visit it was probably sleeping.

Such a phenomenon! Bubbling, boiling, withdrawing and making small waves. Then a breath in and a breath out. Like you witness the heartbeat of the Earth herself. The steam is all over through several small ponds and cooking holes. The largest one bursts out in a fountain every ten or twelve minutes. Always unexpected and in a different shape and strength. The waiting, building up of expectations is a pleasant feeling and then the blue bubble comes up and the large fountain erupts. Exciting and very special. Only minus is the sulfur smell at some places

Great little reliable geyser ... the word geyser is Islanders' gift to the world :) Wish Strokkur restarted its show.

It was a beautiful stop! We got there and it went off right away. Then it took about 10-15 min for the next. Then immediately two more. Be patient and you will see it :)

World famous geothermal area, although the Great Geysir itself is almost totally dormant these days so the slightly smaller Strokkur takes the limelight. I did read however that Strokkur itself was in danger of becoming dormant so has been artificially manipulated by drilling so it continues erupting. Cos tourists are money, right? Climb up the hill to get a better overview of the area!

Definitely a place to visit. It does draw a lot of people but as its a large site it is very manageable. Entrance is free as is the parking. The geyser is just amazing and it erupts very regularly every few minutes. Their is a very large adjacent restaurant with a large tourist outlet centre.

Wonderful experience. A must visit place in Iceland. Part of the famous Golden Circle. A geothermal area where one of the geysir erupts to a great height every few minutes. Worth watching it. Parking is free. There are restaurants close by.

If you have not witnessed a geyser eruption, definitely add this to your itinerary! Multiple geothermal points of interest. Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes at varying degrees of power. A few times it went off every 3 minutes. Two parking lots provide plenty of space and parking is free. Lot of tourists but not overwhelming.

Geysir, located in the Haukadalur Valley of southwest Iceland, is a renowned geothermal area famous for its spectacular hot springs, including the eponymous Great Geysir. This area is a geothermal wonderland that offers visitors a captivating glimpse into the Earth's natural forces.

The Great Geysir, after which all other geysers are named, is the star attraction. While it doesn't erupt as frequently as it once did, when it does, it shoots scalding water and steam high into the air, creating a mesmerizing display of nature's power.

Strokkur, another geyser in the area, is equally impressive and is known for its regular eruptions, sending jets of boiling water up to 30 meters into the sky every few minutes. This predictability makes it a favorite among visitors and photographers.

In addition to the geysers, the Geysir Hot Springs area is adorned with bubbling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, and colorful mineral deposits. The geothermal landscape is both eerie and enchanting, showcasing the otherworldly beauty of Iceland's volcanic terrain.

Visiting the Geysir Hot Springs area allows you to witness the Earth's geothermal activity up close. It's a captivating reminder of the geological forces at work beneath the surface of our planet and provides a unique opportunity to connect with the raw power of nature.

Exploring this geothermal wonderland is not only educational but also a memorable and surreal experience, as you stand in awe of the natural wonders that have shaped Iceland's striking landscapes for centuries.
