Definitely the most impressive waterfall I've seen on the south coast of Iceland. The view is breathtaking. Almost completely frozen, it's an incredible scenery. The path can be a little icy, but it's still accessible to everyone. It's a must see !

Gorgeous place and DEF worth a visit!
The parking is free, walk to the waterfall less than 10 minutes.
There are coffee shop and cloths/souvenir shop too, but I think it was a bit pricey.

Beautiful! Well worth a visit. Wheelchair friendly as you can drive to two different levels and there is a good smooth pathway. Cold and windy on our visit but the beauty of this waterfall is breathtaking and you forget about the cold! Good centre with beautiful gifts, food and toilets. Plenty of parking. No tickets required.

I highly recommend visiting this amazing place.
Especially during the winter because the frozen waterfall is looking completely different.
But be aware to wear very warm clothes because sometimes the temperature is dropping below -25 and in this place is very windy and feels like -40.

Such an amazing sight to see. There are a couple of different viewing platforms that you can walk too.

This has to be seen and admired. The water flowing is so crystal clean.

Seeing this flowing water and all around covered with snow was a great experience.

The water flowing is so crystal clean covered with snow was a great experience.

Tip: Be careful during winter, it gets extra windy ❄

Beautiful waterfall. Very touristy, but it was still amazing to see. However, there are a lot more less known waterfalls which I think are more worth visiting in Iceland.

Magical waterfalls which take your breath away... Literally. Went in November and the wind was so strong, I could barely stand up, never mind take pictures! One of the best places I've ever been, feels so special.

Would highly recommend taking something to protect your camera lenses as the spray from the falls comes at you very fast in the wind.

Gullfoss Waterfall in Iceland is nothing short of a mesmerizing natural wonder. As I stood on the viewing platform, I was captivated by the sheer power and beauty of the cascading falls. The double-tiered drop creates a breathtaking spectacle, with the glacial water plunging into the rugged canyon below.

The misty air and the roar of the falls immersed me in a sensory experience that is impossible to forget. The surrounding landscape, characterized by rocky cliffs and untouched wilderness, adds to the grandeur of Gullfoss.

Visiting in person allowed me to appreciate the scale and force of the waterfall in a way that photos can't fully capture. The ever-changing play of light on the water created stunning rainbows, adding a magical touch to the already picturesque scene.

The well-maintained pathways and viewing areas ensured a safe and enjoyable visit, allowing me to take in the awe-inspiring views from different angles. Gullfoss is a testament to Iceland's raw and untamed beauty, and it's easy to see why it's considered one of the country's iconic landmarks. My visit left me with a deep appreciation for nature's grandeur and the unique charm of Iceland's landscapes.

Beautiful river with wateralls. There is no fee. There is a shop with food and restrooms. It's definitely worth seeing. It's only 1.5 hours from reykjavik and other attractions close by. The geyser is about 10 mins.

Ot is good to have extra protection for shoes down there during the winter time .

Came here on a chilly day blessed with sun sunshine. The fall was spectacular stretching afar. The ground and stairs to the fall were slippery and frosted. Be careful.

We saw Gullfoss in the summertime a few years ago, but this winter visit was equally spectacular. Be sure to also walk down the steps for the different perspective of the falls.

Went during a route from Selfoss to Reykjavick. This was a quick walk to the falls from the parking lot without a long hike. If you bring little kids, just keep a close eye. These waterfalls look treacherous.

The view is breathtaking; you have to go and see it. Otherwise, nobody will be able to describe the unbelievable beauty of nature.

So obviously this place is going to be super touristy and crowded since it’s in the Golden Circle. Not sure why some people are surprised about that. Some travel blogs also say that you can skip this waterfall since there are more impressive falls in Iceland and due to the aforementioned touristy vibes.

I disagree. While this one would rank near the middle of the 20+ waterfalls we saw, it was definitely still impressive to see. The way it cascades into a narrow crevice is pretty unique among Icelandic waterfalls. Besides, despite the paved, wide paths and updated facilities, parking is free here. It’s a pretty sweet deal.

Impressive waterfall! The day was dark and gloomy and I was still impressed with the view. Parking and entrance are free. You can get up close and personal with the waterfall but we decided against getting drenched, however lots of people didn't seem to mind!

Spectacular place to visit. Amazing natural wonder. Only a short walk from the visitor centre. Ideal for wheelchair access due to new flat concrete pathways.
