Such a magical place. This campsite was 20 minutes out of the way for us on our Ring Road voyage, but we decided it was a good option based on reviews. And wow were we glad we stayed here! Absolutely stunning campsite run by the nicest man! He greeted us at the door holding it open for us in a welcoming bow 😂 the campsite not only had stunning views of the mountains and the ocean, but also very clean and warm bathrooms, kitchen, and hangout area where you can also by pastries, coffee, wine, etc. We bought a little bottle of wine and drank it while relaxing in the hot pools! The showers were open showers down by the hot pools. Very basic, but gets the job done. The kitchen has a new stove as well. This was our favorite campsite we stayed at during our 2 week trip around Ring Road. I cannot recommend it enough. We wished we could have stayed more than one night!

Stunning hot springs, well maintained, clean and not crowded. We saw whales on the way there in the adjacent fjord. Little dirt road to get there, about 20 minutes from town, easily accessible with a small car. There is a campground on site and a little shack run by a lively man, where you can have tea, coffee or eat sweet treats!

Amazing Place to stay within nature, all basic facilities are there, warm cottages with a simple kitchen, toilets and two hot tubs. The two guys also drive a tiny cafe. Very cosy and cute. 100% recommendation!!!

Showed up around 10pm; owner was awake and very welcoming. Wonferful person. We slept in our camper van but first spent 3 hours in the hot pools. Peaceful, quiet except the sound of ocean waves breaking; snow falling, the snowy moutain in view.. wow!

Great spot at the end of the road on a northern fjord. We visited in mid August and it wasn't too busy. There are two pools, one smaller and slightly cooler than the other - but both very relaxing and comfortable. Around 37 and 40 degrees celcius. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. Change room facilities leave a little to be desired but there's several showers and ample space.

We happened to be there thr same day the first woman to swim from the island offshore had attempted her third go at it, unfortunately she had to stop due to the water temp bring much colder than expected. However she was a very interesting person to chat with. Only 15 people have ever completed the swim! Best of luck to her completing it a third time!

Simply the best! 2000 ISK pp entry and you can buy a drink at front desk too. Toilets located next to reception before walking towards the changing rooms and showers next to the hot pools. There are two pools to choose from. We soaked in the hot water for 2 hours enjoying our beers and the gentle falling snow. If you are brave you could dip into the ocean before returning to the pools. We could have stayed all night especially when we heard last night there was an Aurora! Highly recommend.

Best outdoor hot pool of all. We've tried a lot of hot pools in Iceland, from fancy to rustic, and this is easily the best. Two large pools, quite warm and well maintained. Warm showers and enclosed changing area, nearby WC. It's at the end of a 16km dirt road but it's easily drivable by any vehicle, even the smallest rental car, and well worth it. Beautiful setting in a meadow by the ocean, you can take a dip in the sea if you need to cool off.

Loved it.

So cool. Find someone to tell you the story of the outlaw!
Camping and the hotspring are 1000isk each/person.
Secluded, hot water, heat, cafe, and PUFFIN TOURS (12,500isk) - so fun!

On the tour you ride a boat ~30min to an island... And there the real adventure begins! Be prepared to climb!!

A beautiful campsite and probably the best thermal baths we visited in Iceland:)
A lovely man managing the property who will be happy to explain more :)
Thank you so much, it was a pleasure.

These are two hot pots: One is larger and a little deeper (Jarlslaug) and the other is smaller and a little bit more shallow (Grettislaug). Both are about 35–38° and a perfect spot for rainy weather.

Also on the premises is a toilet and a shower / changing room container with soap and hot water. We left our clothes in there while we were swimming.

In the small café the entrance fee of 1.000 ISK per person can be paid and cakes and hot coffee can be bought. The people looking after the hot pools were very kind and forthcoming!

The road towards the pools is gravel and has a lot of potholes, but if you drive slow enough, it‘s even managable with a regular, none 4-wheel drive verhicle (ours was a Hyundai i10).

Amazing hot baths down a dirt road. Was 2000Kr a person, two very hot baths and a hot shower area as well. So clean and well kept. Definitely worth the drive out!

Incredible! Such a remote and quiet place, quite far from road no. 1, which gives this place its magic and wonder. Two hot (and I mean HOT) pools, right next to the fjords beach, with 4 heated bathrooms and 2 showers (that at the time of our visit, didn't work), a café, and all for the price of 1000 kr. On winter the café is closed and you pay for the pools in an honesty box. Lovely place and worth the drive. Mind you, it's not an F road, but the road isn't paved completely, and the drive is a bumpy one, but it will all pay off the moment you arrive.

This place is fantastic, the kind man running it too. The place is very clean and well-cared for, but I was angry to find some trashes left in the little shower room by the pools in the early morning and picked it up to throw it away. I'm ashamed Icelandic people sharing their culture and heritage with us could think we have no regard for giving access to this beautiful and secluded area. If you drive all the way to this place, please show some respect.

Well worth the slight detour. The soak was wonderful and the entire area was beautiful.
The changing room was convenient and the toilets were clean.

Unique experience, it‘s very calm, beautifully lonesome, and the sanitary facilities as well as the hot tubs are excellent. One of the best camping places on Iceland. 100% recommend!

Loved this place!! Really reasonable price for camping and entrance to the pools which are very hot! Okay the facilities aren't the cleanest but you're camping so who cares watched the most beautiful sunset and the stars where unbelievable as there is no light pollution around here. Honestly the best night sky i have seen in my life. The owner is lovely I chatted to him for a while, we visited in September 2018 and happened to be Iceland's hottest day of the year.

Amazing spot with a small and a big natural hot pool. Water was really hot in the beginning of May (105-110F). It's also a little hidden so it wasn't very crowded (less than 10 people in the afternoon).

We stayed one night at this gem in northern Iceland. We had one room with a double-bed in the guesthouse with a kitchen, toilet and shower in the building. By the water is two geothermal natural hot pots which were really nice and felt genuin Icelandic. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The price, at the time, for one night with access to everything was 14 000 ISK. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

About Hofsós
Village in Iceland

Hofsós is one of the oldest trading ports in northern Iceland dating back to the 16th century. The tiny village Hofsós in the Northern Region in Iceland was a rather busy trading post in the 17th and 18th century, but despite the merchant activities this small village did not develop into a larger village or a town in the 20th century. source
