Nice spot, recommended. You can either walk from the parking spot which takes about 45 minutes each way (the sign says it takes 3-4 hours but they take into account both ways and at least 45 minutes to one hour there) or you can pay for a shuttle (takes about 7 minutes to shuttle to get you)

A shuttle bus is available on site now. It charges 2500ISK per pax. for round trip and takes 10 minutes to the plane wreck. The snow and wind was pretty strong on the day we visited, so we hopped on the shuttle end enjoyed a comfy journey. We are allowed to roam around for approximately an hour before getting back on the shuttle. A good alternative to the plane wreck during adverse weather and for those who preferred not to do the 8km walk.

We came here to watch northern lights, aus the „hello Aurora“ app predicted good sight.

Due to remote location, there is nearly no light pollution and it is a perfect place to grab some pictures.

On the plane wreck i cannot comment

Nice photospot. Bus transfer to Douglas wreck is quite expensive. The price in 2023 is 2900ISK both way ticket

This is about the parking and not about the planewreck. It’s a parking, what more to say? It was free anyways.
