Love this place..
Best place to see seals. We saw a lots in the afternoon.
Need to walk a little bit on the slip rocks and the slip plants for a while but it worths to do it.
Friendly price of parking but does not have WC there.

PS. I met 1 old guy telephone infront of the big seal. This guy really annoying and not even respect the panel warning, wild animals or the people around him..

Absolutely loved our visit to Ytri Tunga. After 2 weeks of black sand beaches, the golden sand was definitely a site to be seen. However, it was the seal colonies that we were really there to see. We came first thing in the morning and the seals were everywhere - swimming around in groups, and lounging on the rocks. They were incredible. There are signs indicating that in summer you need to stay 100 meters (not feet) away. Many tourists struggled estimating this distance. I recommend a good telephoto if you want to photograph the seals. It’s also a quiet zone - signs everywhere. Almost everyone was very respectful of this. One tourist showed up talking loudly on his cell phone and was quickly shushed by a dozen different people. Highly worth the visit!

One of the main reasons I wanted to go up north was to see the seals.

We went at the end of March but arrived there a bit late (almost sunset) and it was cloudy. We were told the seals go on top of the rocks when the sun is out, and we were almost leaving the place after checking the left side of the beach (as we only saw ducks on the water).

Then a couple weeks later met called us after they spotted them at shore. I believe depending on seasons they are at different places or doing different things.

We loved to see the way they were beaving, and stayed there for like 15-20 mins.

They charge you for parking.

A very popular stop to observe seal colony, around 2 h drive from Reykjavik. Parking 750 ISK, paid with QR code. No toilets, any infra. Better bring something special for seal watching as they are still quite in a distance, or we were not as lucky. One also needs to climb quite an amount of rocks to come closer to water, so take care of proper shoes. Add on - some whale remains right nearby.

Great place to stop for 30-60 minutes, even in the winter (we came in December). We did see seals, and it was pretty!

A popular viewpoint for seal watching.
Wet sand on the beach: take suitable shoes. And if you have one, you might want to bring binoculars: the seals are not too far away, but they blend in with their surroundings.

This is one of my favourites spots to visit in Iceland. It's close enough to the capital for a roundtrip and both the destination as the drive never disappoint. Just be sure to check when the tide is low so you get a close look at the cute seals!

If you want to see the seals up close you have to walk about 150-200 meters on stones and seaweeds. Actually you walk along the ocean floor at low-tide. It is very slippery and you should be extremely careful. If it rains it is not very pleasant.
Overall it was interesting and thrilling experience.

So beautiful to watch seals so close...
Parking : 650kr for small car.

But please guys, respect the 100 meter distance from animals... There s a reason!!!

Lovely stop to see seals bathing in the sun on a sunny day. No toilets here and it's a paid parking. A camera captures the vehicle entry.

Great place, we cane on the morning and there were a lot of seals on the stones and few of them were swimming. We stopped there on our way back aroud 10pm and we didn't see much seals, only few.
Free entrance. Fee for parking (650 ISK).

Best place to see seals from peninsula. A nice tip would be to go a bit left, walk along the beach and the walk on the rocks in order to be far away from people and be able to see a lot of seals

Nice place for walk next to the ocean and see beautiful rocks, landscape and of course many sail sleeping on the rocks.

Really fun beach! Rocky and yellow sand (which was the first I've seen in Iceland!). Very kelpy, but with my boots, I didn't mind. We were so happy to see seals out in the water! They were definitely further than some of the pictures imply, but still so cool!
We also got to see whale vertebrae on the beach which was pretty cool!
Parking wasn't too expensive and was easy to access. Definitely glad we came! It was a really fun spot!

Beautiful tidal basin which on the day I visited had about a dozen harbor seals lounging at water’s edge on the sometimes slippery kelp. If you have boots, bring them.

Climbing on rocks, beautiful beach and seals! Be prepared for wind and some rocky terrain. Parking cost around 650 ISK for a normal family car. Seeing the seals was awesome and I would totally do it again!

This beach is famous about seals. I did see a few seals, but they were pretty afar. Aside from seals, I found the surroundings very nice.

Seals are my favorite so this beach was an absolute must on my list of places to see! It did not disappoint, the seals where sunbathing everywhere. The views here were so cool. Looking one direction was the beach/ocean, and once you turn around it was the breathtaking mountains! (See panoramic photo) I visited in the winter and it was super windy, I'm not sure if it's as windy in the summer months or not.
