It's a breathtaking view. You can't drive around it because very near is a penitenciary (where the Stop sign appear). Entering after this sign means violating the prison area and is prohibited.

Beautiful mountain climbable only in summer. Doable both on foot and climbing with the right tour guide. Some non-trivial passages therefore recommended with the right confidence. About 2h 30min total to get on and off.

One of my husband and I’s favorite hikes to date! Please though do not do this hike if you are not comfortable with scrambling or if it is very windy or raining!

Note that there are three rope climb sections near the top of the trail!

This is not an average sunday morning hike. To reach the summit you need to know what you are doing. This includes scrambling and climbing ropes. It's steep and slippery when wet.
Sooo... great fun for every experienced moutaineer :)).

This is such an iconic view. Located on the northern part of snaefellsnes peninsula, it is hard to miss as it is visible from the main road.

Enjoyable as part of your visit around the peninsula.

One of the truly iconic places in Iceland. There are two parking spots, one to also access the waterfall, which costs ISK 1000. The other is in the direction of Grundaefjördur. Both give you great views, the one with the waterfall is the truly iconic view. Be aware that if there is snow, there is also ice, and the path can be very treacherous and is not cleared! Absolutely worth the visit, but plan on time as the weather can close up and you won't be able to see much! Don't forget your tripod!

Absolutely stunning mountain. Reminded us of the most scenic mountains on the Farroe Islands. Combine with Kirkjufellfoss waterfall one of the most rewarding photo ops in the region. Of course one that has been seen by thousands of tourists. But not as crowded as tourist spots in the South and well worth a stop.

Most people are coming to see walk around waterfall, make picture of mountain but they don't give a try to climb this magnificent piece od rock. Without any prior preparation you can go quite high, but reaching top requires some basic climbing experience as there are ropes there to support going up and exposition can be overwhelming.
I personally skipped summit, as did not fell confident, but I've seen people who made it with a bit of help of experienced people.

A mountain that’s amazing to look at, you can also climb out, but it’s not an easy climb. At least 3 tourists have died trying the ascent, so be careful especially when it’s wet and slippery or icy. Use your common sense and turn around when in doubt.

Really beautiful mountain. Despite the height it is a good challenge, specially if icy... is quite slippery. 3 sections with ropes and on the top is super wide.

Amazing little mountain.

Looks great from the bottom and if you have the experience and stamina to climb it's amazing on top too.

Most books advise a guide but if you are sure footed, experienced at scrambling, and not afraid of heights it's doable.

There are ropes on three near vertical sections....but would you trust to ropes put there by who knows who...and when?

I wouldn't and didn't...If you can't manage the scrambles without then maybe you should just admire from the bottom.

A piece of heaven ❤🇮🇸 I really enjoyed the place during the winter and I am planning to be back in summer. The village is really nice and small, probably you can walk around in less than an hour. At night you can see the northern lights just wish for a nice weather

One of the most beautiful mountains in the world and respectfully hard to climb. If you decide to climb it, make sure to contact local farmer and ask for permission. It is not a hard climb and there are fix robs up there. But it is really easy to fall so be very careful.

It's one of the "Must See" places in Iceland for a good reason. The waterfalls and the mountain make a very good "couple" and offer interesting photographing opportunities. The spot is easily accessible and not far from Reykjavik, suitable for a one day trip.

This area is probably one of the most beautiful areas in Iceland and this little mountain here adds to the beauty! There is just some great scenery around Kirkjufell! Highly recommend coming to this area if you are going to be visiting Iceland!
